David Selby has a small role in the upcoming film Topanga, which had been noted on my site, in Shadowgram, and elsewhere, under its working title of Topanga Canyon.

Here's a brief synopsis courtesy of the film's producer:

Jean (Kelsey Oldershaw) abandons her bourgeois husband Paul (Horatio Ledon) and surroundings for the unemployed layabout Viggo (Andy Mackenzie). His charms include focusing his energy into sex and street wise philosophy. Jean becomes pregnant. Being unclear who the father is, both men eagerly are offering advice and help which she rejects until she finds clarity for herself.

At this point, that's all the information I have. David's role is very brief. He only shot for a day.

If/when I get any more information, I'll pass it along.

My sister's friend who works at a Barnes & Noble didn't get home until after 3am due to the Potter madness, and he said they weren't even allowed to open the boxes the books were shipped in until midnight. Apparently, they made a big production out of this at the store.

Meanwhile, her copy, which she pre-ordered from Amazon, was delivered by Fed-Ex at close to 6pm. The email she received said it would be delivered by 8pm. We were beginning to think it was being delivered by the Weasleys' wayward owl.

I would hate to work for a bookstore or for Fed-Ex this weekend.  ;)

Actually, I believe Mr. Karlen was on another soap:
"Hidden Faces". 1968-69.
(Also had Tony LoBianco AND Conrad Fowkes).

Based on that title and your post on another thread about Cyrus and Sabrina needing my bag, maybe they should've been on this soap.   ;D

For those interested, DRKS ONE's Dark Shadows Site has been updated to include clips from the 2002 Dark Shadows Festival in Anaheim, California. Clips feature Kathryn Leigh Scott, Jeanne Avery (David Henesy's mother), and David Selby.

The site URL is:

If you have comments or questions for DRKS ONE, please contact him using the Contact form on his page.

Thanks,

Oh, you're good - you even faithfully recreated the bizarre dyslexic syntax rather than fix it.

Watched Star Wars: Episode 2 earlier tonight, so it just sounded like Yoda to me.  ;)

Actually, I was more taken by the writer's assertion that the only thing Grayson Hall apparently did following DS that was worthy of mention was dying. I figured the Julia fans would be all over this.  :o

Today, my local paper included a syndicated Q&A column called "Ask Holly Wood" featuring a question about DS. I found an online version on another newspaper web site:

Not sure how long this link will work. Here's the relevant portion:

Reader haunted by 'Dark Shadows'

Q: I have been watching the TV series "Dark Shadows," from the 1960s. When did it first air, and what happened to the actors? -- C.T., Gallipolis, Ohio

A: The gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows" first aired in 1966, and ran until 1971. It spawned a 1970 movie called "House of Dark Shadows."

Numerous actors starred in the series (some more playing than one character), so I'll give you an update on the main ones. Joan Bennett, who, among other characters, played Elizabeth Collins, appeared in a few TV movies before her death in 1990. Alexandra Isles, who played Victoria Winters, acts occasionally and does some behind-the-scenes work. Jonathan Frid, who portrayed the vampire Barnabas Collins, is retired from acting and is producing his own Web site; you can check it out at jonathanfrid.com. Grayson Hall (Julia Hoffman) died in 1985.

What else has she done (say in last 5 years)?

This is really vague, but, at any rate. I know she was Goneril in a production of King Lear in Pittsburgh within the last couple of years. Before the play mentioned in the article, she was at Arkansas Rep for the premiere of Friends Like These, and here's a link to details and photos. She also did a production of Death of a Salesman at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas and costarred with the actor who plays the father on The Waltons, Ralph Waite.

She also played Ethel Dean in the a TNT movie about James Dean.

And she was an understudy for the recent Broadway production of Our Town that got a lot of press because Paul Newman played the stage manager. That production actually began in Westport, CT.

Can I make a non-Julia fashion observation?  ;)

I just want to give a big shout out for Alexis' houndstooth checked scarf. I am a houndstooth check junkie.  [nut]

I'm not sure what settings you might be using, but based on my own experience I wouldn't say so because I run Norton AntiVirus whenever I use Windows and I've never had a problem.

However, people have had problems with Norton Firewall. Do you use that as well?

MB, I forgot to mention this until I saw this post. I can't remember the thread where we originally got into the discussion about Norton Personal Firewall 2003 creating login problems and the workaround, but, either because of something different about the board or something different about the NPF software via an update, that issue of having to create an exception so that dsboards.com can access info about previously visited sites has ceased to be an issue.

I had to redo my whole system in March, and I didn't have to change the NPF configuration to access the board then. So the NPF "problem" seems to be nonexistent at present.

I just stumbled across it by accident, and it really had to do with an argument over whether or not Paul Benedict, whom I remember most vividly as "The Number Painter" from Sesame Street, is alive or dead.

I win. ;)

For those who don't know, Lisa Richards (aka Sabrina) has been quite active on the stage since her DS days. Her most recent role was at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre in Cape Cod in The Unexpected Man alongside Paul Benedict, whom you may remember as the neighbor on The Jeffersons.

Here's a link to a review that includes a photo:

The entire point is to embrace your bad self

I think I remember the nuns telling us not to do this, which, of course, is all the more reason to do it with a vengeance.

Actually, it appears the site is only down via the www.darkshadows.co.uk URL.

It's still accessible via www.collinwood.net  :)

Oh, good. This thread is about timestamps on posts. I was afraid MB was going to start his own version of Match.com right here on the boards.
