In the past, it has been shown in the evening during at least one Dark Shadows Festival (and, frankly, I prefer when they devote the evening film screenings to hard to find movies and tv show episodes featuring the actors rather than the classic horror films they have opted for lately).

On very rare occasions, the film will be aired by television stations in local markets. The same holds true for some of his other films that never made it to video, such as Telethon and Love for Rent.

I've updated my David Selby site with some screen grabs from David's appearance in the 1995 film Headless Body in Topless Bar.

Although the film is not rated and one of the actresses remains topless for the majority of the film, the grabs on the site do not feature any nudity. Sorry to disappoint.  ;)

New material is accessible via the main page. Click the link below or the link banner under this message:

And oh, by the way.....is anyone keeping track of any OTHER new scripts/pilots the WB may be looking at?

Other pilots? There are NO OTHER PILOTS! Well, none of consequence.

Actually, I think it's kind of interesting to keep an eye on the types of shows the other networks are eyeing, since you'll often see competing networks launch shows in the same basic genre at around the same time. For example, NBC's E.R. and CBS's defunct Chicago Hope debuted during the same season.

NBC is supposedly looking into a supernatural-based pilot with Patricia Arquette called Medium, and Kelsey Grammer is lined up to executive produce.

UPN has ordered a pilot for a supernatural series from Aaron Spelling called Silver Lake.

Fox has ordered a pilot for the supernatural drama Point Pleasant from former Buffy executive producer Marti Noxon. It involves a quiet beachside community that is turned upside down when the body of a mysterious young girl washes up on the shore, and it's also been described as Peyton Place meets The Omen.

So at the very least it looks like there's a lot of interest in the genre for next season.

The film was originally titled Mainline, and David Selby mentioned it at the recent Dark Shadows Festival. Information about the film has appeared on the News page of my Selby site since September and on David's official site at least since Christmas, probably earlier. The film is supposed to be released in July.

Though technically this is from last week, there's also been a security flaw discovered in various versions of the Real Player. There's more information on the Real Networks web site.

TV Land has apparently started showing reruns of Shazam!. You know -- that 70s show that taught young kids that they have to turn into an adult superhero to accomplish anything meaningful.  ;D

Anyway, last night I happen to turn by and catch an episode featuring John Karlen. Sporting a cowboy hat and a pronounced limp (think Selby in NODS), Karlen played a real jerk who was hell-bent on destroying a horse that this young girl was equally as hell-bent on saving.

The episode's title is "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Since there aren't too many episodes of the show, it probably won't take too terribly long for it to be shown again. Karlen fans might want to be on the lookout for it.

TV Land shows Shazam! at 1:30am ET on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

No, I'm in Pensacola, FL.  They have a daily listing of celebrity birthdays.  Ususally its "mainstream" actors & musicians, but every now & then they suprise you.   This was one of those suprises.

They probably use the same Associated Press birthday list that a lot of news outlets publish. Newspapers often shorten the list to suit their needs.

Interestingly enough, David's birthday was edited out of the listing published in his hometown newspaper, the Dominion Post in Morgantown, WV. Ingrates!  >:(

For the easily amused, my David Selby site features a bit of frivolity on the opening page to mark the occasion:

Headless Body in Topless Bar with David Selby. It's a little different from any other role he's played on film. His character is dubbed the "kinkmeister" in the movie. Need I say more?  :o

Seriously, though, the reviews of the film aren't too good, but it's worth watching. It was shot more or less in order on a single set, much like a play. It's definitely different, and the director's commentary on the DVD includes a few comments about how David approached the role.

That would be my signed and numbered limited edition self-portrait of Diana Millay who apparently believes that she resembles a Barbie doll.

Oops. Sorry. I thought you were asking about my most laughable DS item.  >:D

Not that I have any interest in this site for any personal reasons.  ;D

« on: January 26, 2004, 10:57:10 PM »
The Northwest Indiana Times featured an article on Dark Shadows today with quotes from Kathryn Leigh Scott and Jim Pierson as well as Jonathan Frid. The paper interviewed Frid several years ago when he was in town for a performance of his Fools and Fiends.

Click here for the article. It was in the Seniors section of the paper.  :o

The writer's interview with KLS will be broadcast at 9:30 am tomorrow morning on WLJE 105.5 FM, a Northwest Indiana radio station.

A couple of additions to report from the past week or so:
  • screen grabs from David's appearance in D3: The Mighty Ducks
  • new screen grabs from David's appearance in White Squall. The site originally featured grabs taken from a VHS copy of the film in a pan and scan format. The new grabs are taken from the DVD and are in widescreen format. The picture quality is also much better.
New material is accessible from the main page of the site:

qu'est ce c'est 'uberproducer'??

Well, that's a word form that's ripped from German, so you shouldn't ask in French.  ;)

Uber means over, above, etc. One of the more famous uses of it is Nietzsche's idea of the ubermensch. Mensch means man, so ubermensch is someone who rises above the normal limits of a man, like a superman. When you see uber plugged in front of a word, you can substitute the word super and get the same basic meaning, though this is all a bit of an oversimplification and not really a suitable topic for this forum.

I'll send you my bill.  :-*
