David briefly mentioned his role in the Sci-Fi Channel film Larva this past weekend. The airdate for this film still hasn't been announced. The official Selby site is now encouraging fans to contact Sci-Fi to ask them to get the movie on the air. Email and snail mail addresses appear on the site, though I'm sure many of us have them committed to memory by now.  ::)

My comment on the radio drama--I really wish a video were being offered of the performance.  I would find that more interesting than the audio CD.

It was never intended to be anything but a radio drama along the lines of what David has done with LA Theatre Works. They perform in front of a live audience and eventually release material to radio and then to compact disc.

Video is typically not part of the mix, and part of that has to do with LATW trying to create an environment that allows actors to experiment with new material with minimal rehearsal time without dealing with the pressures involved with television and film productions.

I'm not sure how well a video would sell anyway, since there was grousing aplenty by some fans following the original staging because the actors were "just reading." Some actors were "just reading" on the original series, so I don't see the big deal.  :P

Does Barnes & Noble also have an Associates-type program that benefits the sites if you buy using one of their B&N links?

Yes, they refer to theirs as an Affiliates program, but I'm not aware of any DS-related sites that participate.

The Official David Selby Web Site now includes a link to the trailer for the upcoming film Surviving Christmas (which was wrongly listed in the DS Weekend program as Saving Christmas). David isn't in the trailer.  :(

The site also has a few photos from this past weekend. More could be on the way since David's publicist snapped some shots that don't appear on the site, unless they're saving those for something else . . .

Donna Wandrey played Dr. Myers for two episodes in March and April 1977. Dr. Myers helped Delia Ryan with the miscarriage she was having at the time.

There are some screen grabs on my Dark Shadows Alumni site.

Lisa Richards starts performances of a play called Immoral Imperatives in early September at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre (WHAT) on Cape Cod. This is purely speculation, but rehearsals for that and/or involvement in another production could explain the absence of her name from the schedule. Richards stays very busy as a stage actress. Right now, probably more so than any of the actors who appear at the Fests or Weekends or whatever we're calling them now.

David Selby plans to attend the DS Weekend in Tarrytown. This information is now posted on his official site, www.davidselby.com

Now maybe people will stop emailing me about rumors that are being spread to the contrary.  ;D

Please note that David will not be performing, though he should be in attendance.

The official site now states that he will not be performing or appearing.

Current Talk '04 II / Re: DS SET 13 disc 3
« on: July 18, 2004, 07:35:19 AM »
I was wondering about this. I rent the episode DVDs through Netflix, and, no kidding, I had to return three different copies of the second disc of set 12 because of this same problem. I blamed it on Netflix's flimsy packaging for sending single discs through the mail, but it sounds like the problem is with MPI. The discs all have the same sort of stress marks from center to edge with an actual crack in the clear center piece. My DVD player kicks them out as being too dirty to play.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Staged reading of Selby play
« on: July 17, 2004, 05:13:58 PM »
For any Selby enthusiasts in the northeast Tennessee or southwest Virginia area, his play, Final Assault will be one of the staged readings during the first two weeks of August at the Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. David did some of his early stage work at this theatre. Additional information can be found on the News page of DavidSelby.com.

Please note that David will not be performing, though he should be in attendance.

i can't see the link has it been removed?

I noticed the same problem this morning and traced it to my Norton Internet Security Ad Blocking feature. For whatever reason, if the banner ad blocking option is selected, the URL will not appear in the post.

I have no idea whether the disappearance of the link has to do with this week's updates from Norton or whether it has to do with having my browser and NIS settings adjusted differently when I first read the post. I've had just about every browsing option checked and unchecked a half dozen times this week while I tried out a web site I'm working on.

At any rate, if I leave the popup blocker turned on but turn off the ad blocker, the URL will appear in the post. Maybe you're having a similar problem.  :-

Current Talk '04 II / Re: If Alexandra hadn't left the series
« on: July 14, 2004, 08:16:28 PM »
It was called Certain Honorable Men and the date stamp on it is 1968, so perhaps she did it during a break from DS.   It had a distinguished cast--Peter Fonda, Will Geer, and Pat Hingle, amongst others.

Somewhere on one of the DS DVDs or videos, Alexandra Isles briefly refers to working on this. She talks about being out and about with Peter Fonda and people recognizing her as Victoria Winters and not seeming to notice him.

Patti,

It's sort of like Dead Poets Society on a boat, and Selby gets to play the a-hole father who manages to make life a living hell for everyone around him. If you want to see him play a character that has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, this would be the film to watch. Some of the reviews actually singled Selby out for playing the part with too much relish. He's not in a lot of it, but his character does tend to drive along portions of the plot. An earlier draft of the script floating around on the Internet had his character playing a much more prominent role in the proceedings at the end of the film (trying not to give anything away here), but the film doesn't include any of that. No idea whether the scenes were shot and scrapped or dropped prior to filming. I doubt Mr. Evil Parent himself would even remember.  ;D

Which 'tongue' scene would that be? I think I know the one, but want to be sure.

Angelique and Charles in the tower room.  :)

Sheenasma says she originally saw a version in the theater that included that scene, and she had mentioned it a few times, noting "the tongue," so, when you showed it (I think in Anaheim), we were finally convinced that it wasn't just her vivid imagination making the scene a tad steamier than it was.  ;D

And she is going to kill me for posting this.

Neglected to mention that, in addition to the online simulcast, it is also supposed to be archived online for a week following the broadcast. Go to DavidSelby.com and check out the Airdates page for the listening links.
