Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / New Premiere Date for Selby Movie
« on: November 19, 2004, 05:20:13 AM »
The Sci-Fi Channel is now indicating that Larva will premiere on Jan. 15 at 9:00 PM ET, not Jan. 8 as they had previously posted.

How very shocking that they would change their posted schedule!  ;)

I'm surprised you haven't commented on the absence of one of your favorite people from the list, MB.  ;)

Ah, Geoffrey Scott. Now I can finally ask what it was like to be the Gorton's Fisherman.  ;D

Apparently in an effort to salvage what $ they can from the film, Dreamworks is releasing it on DVD on December 21, 2004.

Don't set the timer just yet.  ;)

I'm now hearing that the film was submitted for the Sundance Film Festival. If that's true, then Sci Fi would be unable to air it prior to the Festival at the end of January.

Nevertheless, it does show up in the SciFi schedulebot for January.

David's official web site is reporting that Larva, which was filmed around this time last year in Springfield, Missouri, will make its Sci-Fi Channel debut on Saturday, January 8, at 9:00 PM Eastern. Co-stars include Vincent Ventresca, William Forsythe, and Rachel Hunter. David plays a bad guy.  ;)

More info is on David's official web site.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Re: Don Briscoe Passes Away
« on: November 04, 2004, 01:53:50 AM »
Was talking with someone who noted that Don's parents were not listed in the newspaper death notice and wondered why since it has often been reported that he lived with his parents.

Don's mother passed away about five years ago. His father passed away just this summer. That is why they are not mentioned.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Clips from 2004 DS Weekend
« on: November 02, 2004, 03:50:11 AM »
I've posted 4 clips from Richard Blanco's video of the recent Dark Shadows Weekend at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown on his web site:

http://drksone.0catch.com

The annoying freebie web service is slapping some garbage characters at the top of the page where their ad should appear, and I'm too doped up on pain meds right now to know or care how to fix it, so please disregard it.  :o The new material is on the Festival Videos page.

The clips are in RealPlayer format and feature Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, ProfStokes at the costume gala, and Marie Wallace. The video/sound quality has been downgraded in order to make the files smaller. Obviously, the original quality is much better.

If you're interested in the videos, you can contact the site owner at drksone@aol.com

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Selby Film to be Released on DVD
« on: November 01, 2004, 02:59:37 AM »
Shadow of Fear, starring James Spader, Matthew Davis, and Peter Coyote with David Selby, will be released on DVD in January 2005.

The plot centers around a man (Davis) who accidentally kills someone and enlists the aid of a lawyer (Spader) who involves him in a deadly game of blackmail.

Filming on this project was completed over a year ago. Though it made the rounds on the film festival circuit, it never had a wide theatrical release.

This title can be preordered through Amazon. Click here for details.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Re: The House

I received a copy of the Fest DVDs from Rich this week, and they do contain the performance of The House.

When I get a chance, I'll try to post some clips and grabs from his video on his web site.

Below are just a few photos I thought I would share.

For a second there, I thought you were going to post some Magda shots, leaving me with no choice but to pound you.  ;)

Dean was one of the first Dark Shadows fans I ever met online, and, while I'm not big on posting personal stuff, I can say that he will be missed.

Now I have to find someone else who can explain to me what the hell "Hoosier Values" are.  ;D

**** TV GUIDE's upcoming Halloween issue, available either this week or next, will include DS in a feature on spooky TV programs

The online version of TV Guide features a "Which Witch is Which?" quiz that includes a familiar face.

The URL for his website is listed below, but it has yet to be updated to include this years event.

His no count webmaster updated the site this afternoon so that it includes details about DVDs and VHS tapes of this year's event.

As to whether or not it includes footage of The House, I can't say because that information was not provided to me.

Current Talk '04 II / Re: DS mentioned in EW article on SciFI channel
« on: October 16, 2004, 09:44:56 PM »
Not this female.  I cruise by that channel on a regular basis...and I can't remember the last time I found anything worth watching on it.

The perpetual reruns of Buck Rogers have allowed me to confirm two things:

(1) that Gil Gerard is nowhere near the hunk I thought he was when I watched the show as a kid

(2) that spandex is not for everyone

Now that I'm secure in the knowledge of these two things, I don't need to see the show ever again.  ::)

Seriously, though, I have to be nice because I want them to hurry up and air Larva, which, despite its unfortunate name, is supposed to feature David Selby in what he described at the DS Fest as a good role.

Regardless of the ridiculous titles and premises, their Saturday night monster movies have been ratings successes for the network. There was a recent article about them in Wired Magazine.

There are promotional photos from the film featuring Horace and his lovely wife Letitia and daughter Missy on DavidSelby.com.
