Also, the complete first season of KOJAK is being released on DVD in March.  Grayson appeared in an episode from, I believe, the second season, so if sales of the first season are strong enough, then the second season should be released.

DS fans have plenty of reason to be interested in the first season set. John Karlen, Michael McGuire, Lara Parker, and Dennis Patrick all made appearances in the first season of Kojak. (David Selby appears in the fourth season.)

editorial content should have no connection whatever with advertising.

Sadly, though, it does, and one of the more obvious examples involves magazines geared toward women. Steinem wrote an article about it in 1990 for Ms., though, in this case, it was the advertisers who were demanding "complementary copy" rather than the other way round. It's available online here. This article is widely anthologized in freshman composition texts with a pop culture emphasis.

Just like to state publicly, MsCriseyde should get $$$$ for posting about "Larva".

Ok. When can I expect a check?  ;D

Seriously, though, it's nice to see Selby in a role that's not simply defined by being someone's rich daddy, which is what a lot of his post-FC film roles have been. Fletcher Odermatt was another example of Selby doing what he seems to get a kick out of with villains -- making them undeniably bad guys that are also capable of a certain degree of tenderness. You see that in Quentin and even more so in Richard Channing, particularly during the final seasons of FC.

I'm not particularly into this genre of film, mainly because it is so very predictable and so very gross, but I think the film accomplished what it set out to do, and it was a far sight better than the last made-for-tv movie I watched which, unfortunately, was 3 on ESPN.  :P

That was to be expected - particularly when the movie was supposedly a throwback to the '70s B-movie horror genre.  ;)

Well, yeah, but I saw the opportunity for a lame reference to South Park:P

I've posted some screen grabs from the movie on my David Selby site. If you haven't seen the film yet and plan to at some point, the grabs do give away the ending.
Oh my God! They killed Selby!
How interesting! I wonder if Don knew then that he had some sort of "emotional?" problems even then? ???

Maybe he was just ahead of his time. Some of today's blog templates include a section to record your mood with your entry.  ;)

So, I'm assuming one of two things: either you're all still on a Selby high and you haven't come down to earth yet, or the thing was so bad that you can't even bring yourselves to discuss it...

The answer is A.  ;D

SCI FI prides itself on basing these Saturday night films on B-horror-movie formulas, but this was interesting in that, as the villain, Selby's character was actually much more fully developed than Vincent Ventresca's, and Ventresca was supposed to be the hero. By the end of the film, you know much more about where he's coming from and what motivates him than you do with any of the other characters.

I'm actually keeping quiet and not posting any grabs until after they rebroadcast the movie on Thursday night. After that, they won't show it again until March.

Just a couple of tidbits about the film . . .

There is an R-rated cut scheduled to be released to DVD in April, and there's a blurb about that on my Selby site.

A little bit of a warning . . . I've heard from someone who's seen it that the film is quite gross, so, if your stomach turns easily, you may find yourself turning away from the screen.  [puke]

I noticed that this show is on Early Monday mornings from 1-4 AM. Poor David I'll bet this was way past his bed time. ;D

The interview was done via telephone, and it was taped.  ;)

The car pool from hell. The driver is William Daniels.

Makes you understand why he didn't think voicing a car for Knight Rider was too "out there."  ;D

Captures, anyone? ...

LOL. I was going to be a smart [bootyshake] and post some earlier today because it was airing on the East Coast when you posted your notice. Unfortunately, my video capture software was on the fritz because some other piece of software I installed hijacked it. It was a shame too because I had grand plans for a shot of RD with a Cylon and the caption: "Even next to a Cylon, he's stiff."  >:D

I still don't get that leviathan storyline... what exactly happened during that time? ~DJ

That's precisely what those of us who've actually seen it wonder.  ;D

I couldn't summarize it if my life depended on it.

While he was in St. Louis at the end of 2004 to film Black Hole for the Sci-Fi Channel, David was interviewed by Playback St. Louis. I've added a link to the article to my Selby site. I've also added a screen grab from the Larva commercial.
