Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: Logged & IP Adds

So, just now, Norton told me 'yada yada' tried to access me, from IP 0.00.00 (all zeroes).

I've seen Norton do this when certain software was being installed and/or drivers were being upgraded, particularly with ATI video cards. On that particular machine, we wound up having to yank out the network cable and disable Norton Personal Firewall in order to get the ATI drivers to install properly. So that message doesn't necessarily mean an intruder has accessed your machine.

Sally, and anyone else who has already paid for their banquet ticket--

Note that the banquet rate was incorrectly listed on the form as $50; it should have read $55.  ::)  The total for the bus trip, 2-for-1 Fest admission, and banquet is $100.

Let me see if I can save everyone some trouble.  :)

The $50 banquet price was previously listed on the membership form that was posted on the Fest site. Based on an email exchange with pansyfaye involving someone who offered to send a check to pay the difference, it appears that anyone who submitted that erroneous form with payment has nothing to be concerned about. No additional payment is necessary. However, from here on out, they will only be accepting the newest version of the registration form that lists the $55 price. So anyone who registered early got a little discount.  ;)

The ad itself is probably on the site somewhere, but, in the meantime, when this page first loads, you can see images of KLS from the ad.

Without a doubt, the best episode is the one in which Amanda Harris finally kicks it, never to be heard from again.  >:D

Why is wanting to be involved in a fandom any more bizarre than that kind of fan activity?

The typical answer offered in published work on media fandom is that those events are perceived as being "real" as opposed to fictional. I've had students in class discussions insist on the same thing.

The problem with that argument is that sporting events are a tightly regulated form of "reality. The rules that dictate a sport are somewhat analagous to the conventions that govern a piece of fiction, and, ultimately, though we set aside time to find out whether or not Boston will end "the Curse" or to discover who shot J.R., neither of those events has much impact outside the realm of pop culture.

Switching reels, a dear friend gifted me with an MPI Quentin bobblehead a couple of days ago.  It is pretty darn cute.

In general, I find bobbleheads to be utterly creepy. I might have to make an exception in this case.  ;D

Has anyone been able to find any reviews for "War Games"?  I've searched with no luck.

Just guessing here, but this is also based on tracking down reviews of recent plays featuring a certain actor.  ;D

Since this is a weekend production, and this past weekend marked the first performances, any reviews are likely to hit local papers around Thurs/Fri when they typically post sections and features about weekend entertainment options.

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 I / David Selby in Unknown
« on: April 04, 2005, 01:30:35 AM »
DavidSelby.com is reporting that David Selby will appear in the upcoming indie thriller Unknown starring Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Joe Pantoliano, Bridget Moynahan, and Jeremy Sisto. (Sisto portrayed Selby's son in White Squall.)

Variety ran a blurb about the film in early March, stating that the "plot is being kept under wraps, but the drama is likened to Memento in that participants and viewers don't know until the end who the bad guy is." The only other information they give is that Caviezel plays "a dark mystery man."

The Center's web site organization leaves something to be desired. If you visit the home page and scroll down the page and click on the News link (I'll include a direct link here, but this page will leave you stranded if you enter the site through it), you can read the media release for War Games, in which Sam Hall is credited with "creating Dark Shadows."

Don't tell Dan.  :-X
