KPFA 94.1 FM in Berkeley, CA will broadcast the L.A. Theatre Works performance of Horton Foote's The Young Man from Atlanta starring Shirley Knight and David Selby on Sunday, April 11 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm local time.

This station also offers online broadcasts. Click here.

The Young Man from Atlanta is also available on cassette and compact disc from the L.A. Theatre Works web site.

Amazon offers it on audio cassette and compact disc as well as in a downloadable format. This link will take you to the compact disc, but the page has links to the other formats as well.

And, dom, I don't have a slideshow, but, if you click on the Amazon link and then follow the link to the downloadable version, they have clips in Windows Media Player and Real Player format. It's about 6 minutes from the opening scene. You get to hear David do his Texas accent.  :)

David Selby's episode of Ally McBeal, entitled "I Want Love," will air on FX on Saturday, April 17, at 8:00am ET. David reunites with Rich and Famous co-star Jacqueline Bisset, and the episode also features Elton John. It originally aired in 2001 and was one of the highest rated episodes of that season.

Thanks to the kindness of an anonymous donor, I now have a copy of the New York Times review of The Perfectionist at the McCarter Theatre in 1993. David Selby played the role of Tobias Harte and went on to reprise the role for an L.A. Theatre Works audio performance. The review includes a photo of David with co-star Betty Buckley.

I've uploaded a copy of the photo along with the review to my David Selby site. New material is accessible by following the links from the main page:

For anyone who's not checked out Craig Hamrick's Dark Shadows Online site lately, there are a couple of new items of interest.

He's posted an image of the forthcoming Angelique bobble head, and he has photos taken this month of Nancy Barrett and Sally Struthers as they performed at a New York home for the elderly. He also mentions that Barrett is preparing a new musical show for the upcoming Festival.

"The Romance," David's episode of The Waltons, will air on the Hallmark Channel on Tuesday, March 30, at 10:00am ET. Thanks to PatrickM of the Central Florida Dark Shadows Fan Club for posting this information on another forum.

David's character is noteworthy among fans of The Waltons because he is the only man other than Olivia Walton's husband who kisses her during the course of the entire series. Waltons creator Earl Hamner was also behind Falcon Crest, which featured David as Richard Channing.

Screen grabs of this episode are available on my David Selby site by visiting the TV Schedule page and clicking on The Waltons link.

The Official David Selby Web Site reports that David Selby will deliver the commencement address and receive an honorary doctorate during spring graduation ceremonies at West Virginia University.

David already holds BS and MA degrees from WVU and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University. (These are all earned degrees, not honorary degrees.)

The official site includes a link to the commencement section of the WVU web site with specific details about the time and location of the event as well as information about ordering a videotape of the event.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 I / Donna Wandrey on Ryan's Hope
« on: March 04, 2004, 08:06:16 PM »
Donna Wandrey is on SoapNet as I type this appearing in an episode of Ryan's Hope as a doctor. I snagged a few screen grabs of the first few minutes. I'll post them later.

In the new movie Secret Window, Johnny Depp plays horror writer Mort Rainey, but every time I've seen the trailer over the past week or so, it sounds like the announcer is saying Mark Rainey. The first time I saw it, I thought Mark had done pretty good for himself to have Depp portraying him on screen.  [clap]

Then I find out that I just heard it wrong.   [crazy]

I've updated my David Selby site with some screen grabs from David's appearance in the 1995 film Headless Body in Topless Bar.

Although the film is not rated and one of the actresses remains topless for the majority of the film, the grabs on the site do not feature any nudity. Sorry to disappoint.  ;)

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 I / John Karlen Sighting
« on: February 08, 2004, 04:35:50 PM »
TV Land has apparently started showing reruns of Shazam!. You know -- that 70s show that taught young kids that they have to turn into an adult superhero to accomplish anything meaningful.  ;D

Anyway, last night I happen to turn by and catch an episode featuring John Karlen. Sporting a cowboy hat and a pronounced limp (think Selby in NODS), Karlen played a real jerk who was hell-bent on destroying a horse that this young girl was equally as hell-bent on saving.

The episode's title is "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Since there aren't too many episodes of the show, it probably won't take too terribly long for it to be shown again. Karlen fans might want to be on the lookout for it.

TV Land shows Shazam! at 1:30am ET on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

« on: January 26, 2004, 10:57:10 PM »
The Northwest Indiana Times featured an article on Dark Shadows today with quotes from Kathryn Leigh Scott and Jim Pierson as well as Jonathan Frid. The paper interviewed Frid several years ago when he was in town for a performance of his Fools and Fiends.

Click here for the article. It was in the Seniors section of the paper.  :o

The writer's interview with KLS will be broadcast at 9:30 am tomorrow morning on WLJE 105.5 FM, a Northwest Indiana radio station.

A couple of additions to report from the past week or so:
  • screen grabs from David's appearance in D3: The Mighty Ducks
  • new screen grabs from David's appearance in White Squall. The site originally featured grabs taken from a VHS copy of the film in a pan and scan format. The new grabs are taken from the DVD and are in widescreen format. The picture quality is also much better.
New material is accessible from the main page of the site:
