Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / New Premiere Date for Selby Movie
« on: November 19, 2004, 05:20:13 AM »
The Sci-Fi Channel is now indicating that Larva will premiere on Jan. 15 at 9:00 PM ET, not Jan. 8 as they had previously posted.

How very shocking that they would change their posted schedule!  ;)

David's official web site is reporting that Larva, which was filmed around this time last year in Springfield, Missouri, will make its Sci-Fi Channel debut on Saturday, January 8, at 9:00 PM Eastern. Co-stars include Vincent Ventresca, William Forsythe, and Rachel Hunter. David plays a bad guy.  ;)

More info is on David's official web site.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Clips from 2004 DS Weekend
« on: November 02, 2004, 03:50:11 AM »
I've posted 4 clips from Richard Blanco's video of the recent Dark Shadows Weekend at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown on his web site:

http://drksone.0catch.com

The annoying freebie web service is slapping some garbage characters at the top of the page where their ad should appear, and I'm too doped up on pain meds right now to know or care how to fix it, so please disregard it.  :o The new material is on the Festival Videos page.

The clips are in RealPlayer format and feature Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, ProfStokes at the costume gala, and Marie Wallace. The video/sound quality has been downgraded in order to make the files smaller. Obviously, the original quality is much better.

If you're interested in the videos, you can contact the site owner at drksone@aol.com

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Selby Film to be Released on DVD
« on: November 01, 2004, 02:59:37 AM »
Shadow of Fear, starring James Spader, Matthew Davis, and Peter Coyote with David Selby, will be released on DVD in January 2005.

The plot centers around a man (Davis) who accidentally kills someone and enlists the aid of a lawyer (Spader) who involves him in a deadly game of blackmail.

Filming on this project was completed over a year ago. Though it made the rounds on the film festival circuit, it never had a wide theatrical release.

This title can be preordered through Amazon. Click here for details.

Current Talk '04 II / DVD Set 14 Question
« on: October 01, 2004, 04:52:55 PM »
I got a copy of DVD Set 14 this week. Haven't noticed any issues with the episodes themselves, but, on my copy, the audio on the Selby interview at the end of the first disc seems to have really uneven volume, fading out almost completely at times. Was wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Release Date Set for Selby Film
« on: September 15, 2004, 07:55:33 PM »
Dreamworks SKG has announced that Surviving Christmas, starring Ben Affleck, Christina Applegate, and James Gandolfini with David Selby in a small role, will be released on October 22, 2004.

Originally, the film was slated for a November release, but apparently it has been moved up to open opposite the remake of Alfie.

Portions of this movie were filmed around the Chicago area in early 2003, but the release of the film was delayed to allow studios with Affleck films to stagger their release dates so that they would not compete with one another. (And no one was eager to release the first Affleck film following Gigli.)

Various versions of the films trailers and teasers are available online here:

My understanding is that David doesn't appear in any of these, but I've not actually looked at them.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / New Cover for Selby Poetry Book
« on: September 13, 2004, 06:21:43 AM »
A new cover for David Selby's poetry volume, My Mother's Autumn, made its debut at the recent Dark Shadows Weekend in Tarrytown.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, the cover art is now featured on David's official web site:

http://www.davidselby.com

The book is also in the process of being added to Barnes & Noble's web site. The cover art is featured there, but they do not have copies in stock at the moment. That should change fairly soon.  :)

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Interesting DVD Set 13 Review
« on: September 09, 2004, 08:00:47 AM »
This review of DS DVD Collection 13 popped onto the Internet radar just a few hours ago:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=12214

Have to confess that I'm partial to the paragraph on David Selby's portrayal of Quentin, but I also was intrigued by the remarks about Lara Parker's commentary at the end of disc 2. While I think the reviewer might be a tad bit harsh, I do admit to staring at the screen and saying, "Umm . . . ok" while watching her interview.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Selby News

The Official David Selby Web Site now includes a link to the trailer for the upcoming film Surviving Christmas (which was wrongly listed in the DS Weekend program as Saving Christmas). David isn't in the trailer.  :(

The site also has a few photos from this past weekend. More could be on the way since David's publicist snapped some shots that don't appear on the site, unless they're saving those for something else . . .
