Now that I have youtube on my new smart tv, I have have been binging on tons of stuff. One of the shows I discovered is Supertrain. There are mediocre copies of each episode.
I would say he best of the lot is the 2 hour pilot directed by Dan Curtis. He put a lot of effort to make it appear as an actual train. The ratings sank quickly but NBC invested a lot and didn't want to give up. After the 5th episode, it was pulled for a quick reboot. Curtis was removed as producer but the reboot made it even worse. They even resorted to a laugh track on the last episode. Cobert was kept on as music composer but his new theme sounded like Casey Jones meets Studio 54. I think the show attempted to be as realistic as possible to an actual train but had loads of technical problems and was rushed on the air way too quickly. They were hoping to have a show with guest stars patterned after The Love Boat but ended up with The Titanic instead. After just watching all the episodes, I can't really disagree with the author. P.S. Curtis did use Karlen in a small role in an early episode.
