I wonder if anyone else has ever noticed how nervous and off-key Joan Bennett seems to act whenever Dan Curtis is directing? [easter_huh]

Every mischievous child in Collinwood seems to know Josette and where her room is just by stories being circled around the family over and over again. I wouldn't be surprised if Quentin and David have a connection there.

On Marie's hair, I think it's her own. Besides the interviews that she's given mentioning that her hair was teased to the ends,
[spoiler]the one episode in the Leviathan period where MW plays Jenny and Megan, Megan's hair seems a bit more poofier than normal.[/spoiler]

Yes, you can, because Jenny was mad when [spoiler]she killed Quentin[/spoiler]
whereas Quentin should've known better.

Current Talk '09 I / Actors' reaction to different directors
« on: April 04, 2009, 05:36:34 PM »
I was recently watching a 1968 episode and noticed that Barnabas acts differently depending if Lela Swift is directing and when Sean Dhu Sullivan is directing. For instance, when Sullivan is directing an episode, Barnabas seems to rush through his lines, and acts like he never read the script, whereas when Swift is directing, Barnabas seems more relaxed and simply acts better.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this drastic change in acting with any other actors?

Wow, what a great episode! I LOVE early 1897! [cheers]

I hate to say this, but Quentin really did deserve Magda's curse. I can hardly believe that he still has a conscience after his little rendevouz with Laura and his dabbling in the black arts. Is it just me, or does Beth seem wiser and stronger in the first few weeks of this storyline than later on? It makes me wonder why she was at all surprised when [spoiler] Angelique told her that Quentin wasn't going to marry her[/spoiler]

Sandor finally showed some backbone in this episode. He doesn't really stand up to Magda, let alone Edward. You can really feel the family grief in this episode.  [easter_cry]

The dream sequence was very well-done. I'm glad they brought back Jenny for one last episode, just to have her torment Quentin. [easter_grin]

Barnabas never learns, does he? All through the show, relatives and strangers keep peering through the Old House windows, finding out secrets. You'd think that Barnabas would've drawn the drapes after David and Jason McGuire started peeping.  [easter_cheesy]

This episode is a perfect example of what a perfect show should look like. The beginning of the Quentin and Beth love story has such chemistry and charisma that later becomes watered down, IMO. If Beth can see the truth about Quentin now, then [spoiler]why did she act so shocked when she learned that Quentin was going to marry Angelique?[/spoiler]

I can remember being frightened of Magda as a child, especially when she recited incantations such as the one featured in this particular episode. She just had such a powerful aura that scared the living heck out of me. [eek]

I have always felt that the zombie period of 1897 was one of the most well-thought out pieces of the storyline. Everyone was given great lines, and the acting was (almost!) infallible.
Is it me, or is the robe Carl wears in the beginning the same one we've seen on Barnabas a number of times?
I haven't thought of that before, but I do believe you're right, Pansity. Clothing was often interchanged between actors in certain periods.

I agree that Don Briscoe was an amazing actor. I'm very sad that he could only stay with the show for two years, but I guess I should be glad that he graced the sets of Dark Shadows.

I wish that Don had not left Dark Shadows. The Chris Collins character never had time to bloom into a fullfledged, three-dimensional character, which we all know would have been another spectacular addition to the stroyline.  [easter_sad]

Thank you for your kind welcome. I've been a fan for many, many years, ever since I can remember.

Back to the topic, would Evil Barnabas even stay in the room with all the other evil villains when he could just as easily disappear to some safe haven?

Although the first PT storyline is, IMO, the weakest because of the loss of important characters for so long, I do appreciate the murder mystery and all involved with Angelique/Alexis. The "yelling Quentin" did get a bit boring, though. [sleepingy]

Wait a minute, wasn't it written in the Collins Family History that Josette died in the Winter of the same year of 1795/6/7? If that's so, then the dates of the past and the present could never have coincided. [easter_undecided]

I think that Jeremy was supposed to sort of fill in for David as Carrie's romantic interest. They hinted in the previous storyline that David was to be Carrie's boyfriend or something in 1840, and since Henesy left the series, someone had to pick up the slack. Incidently, I've always wondered if the new expectations for Henesy was one of the reason that he left the show and acting altogether.

I always thought that Vicki seemed "into it" with both of her fiancees, but that's just me.

I never bought into the entire Vicki and Peter/Jeff affair. I thought that Vicki and Burke were much more believable, especially with Anthony George portraying Burke.

I think it would narrow down to Judah Zachery and Nicholas Blair. I would put my money on Zachery, but Nicholas can certainly hold his own!  [easter_wink]
