Hi everyone, coming out of lurkdom to say I heard about this series the other day, and while I know nothing is certain until it happens, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that this series will be made and will be a good one! I look forward to reading more news and updates about it here.  Hope everyone's been well!!

Current Talk '24 I / Re: Depp/Burton DARK SHADOWS Is In Release!!
« on: September 23, 2015, 02:16:31 AM »
I think that Black Mass is doing pretty well for the type of film it is.  It had a relatively small budget, and like many films this time of year it is more of an "awards consideration" film than a "big box office" film.  Plus, it's rated R, which also cuts down on the box office.  It actually did better yesterday (Monday) than that Maze Runner film that beat it over the weekend, because it was a school day and more of the kids that see Maze Runner will go on the weekend than a weekday, whereas adults will still be going on school days.

I agree about the title being a little misleading, but it is part of the title of the book.  And in a way, after seeing it, I'd argue that in a way, it's a bit of a horror film, anyway  [ghost_shocked]

I'm so glad Sleepy Hollow has been renewed!  Even though I thought season 2 was a little more uneven than season 1, I love the two lead characters so much, and the chemistry between them.  I love Jenny and Hawley, too.  I can't wait for next year!

Current Talk '14 II / Bob Dylan mentions DS! (Showtime documentary)
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:39:43 PM »
Hey folks, I was watching a Showtime documentary last night, Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued.  It's a film about how several musicians recently wrote music to some long-lost Bob Dylan lyrics and recorded an album that just came out called Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes.  The film features some voiceovers by Dylan, who described recording his famous Basement Tapes in the late 60's.  He was talking about how he just wrote songs about whatever he happened to hear about, whether on the news or on TV, and said something like, "If there was something on TV, like As The World Turns, or Dark Shadows, we might write a song about it."   [hall2_smiley]

I don't know enough about The Basement Tapes to know which song(s) might've been influenced by DS, but I was tickled that he considered it a source of inspiration!

Thanks Gerard, that was sweet.  RIP Karen, one of the most distinctive voices of her generation.  I was one of the households with a black and white TV, and I used to try to get invited to my friend Patty's house to watch DS in color!  [ghost_wink]

Awesome!   [ghost_wink]  Tom Mison is also nominated for a Best Actor "EWWY" award (which Entertainment Weekly gives out to shows and actors/actresses who were snubbed for an Emmy nomination).  You can see Tom and the other nominees here at Entertainment Weekly:

(if the link doesn't take you to the exact page, just scroll through their gallery- Tom is #11)

I'm trying not to read most of these gloomy articles, lol  [easter_grin]  But here is a somewhat related take from Lucas Shaw from The Wrap that I found interesting, via YouTube:

I can't decide whether I believe this story or not.  TMZ is just a tabloid, but it seems to actually get things right more than some other tabloids.  But I'll tell ya, there are a lot of crazy fans out there ;)
