So...is it too much to hope for, that the people responsible for the gawd-awful choices made by the WB will be shown the door? [90d1]

Actually the person who was in charge at the time that nixed the DS pilot and staked Angel was replaced a while ago... and there's already been a lot of talk that they know they made a mistake getting rid of Angel so I'd be very surprised if they weren't having similar feelings about DS04 (not to mention Lost In Space).

Hmmm...I forwarded your info to my friend with the Mac and asked her to double-check the specifics of her system and browser. She said that she's using the exact same setup as you - and she redid the tests - yet the exploit continues to show up whether she has pop-up blocking set up in Safari or not. I wonder what it is that you seem to be doing differently?

Hmm, that really is odd because I tested it several times, clearing caches etc..., (and just tested it again this very minute) and consistently found no exploit with pop-up blocking activated. Weird.

It does not matter what roles he gets, or how many oscars the guy ends up winning, Sean Penn will always be Jeff Spicoli from" Fast times at Ridgemont High"  His performance was Gnarly.  ;)

LOL  That's funny... Whenever someone mentions Sean Penn to me, I don't even think of his acting -  the only thing that runs through my head is "That's the guy that slapped Madonna around."

7.54 and Linux Gnome's Epiphany 1.2.8 and Galeon 1.3 (which are both based on Mozilla) all have it - and I had a friend check IE 6 and Safari 1.2.4 on her Mac and they all have it! The only browser that I

Just for the record, I just tested this on my Mac OS X 10.3.7 system with Safari 1.2.4 (v125.12) and it "appears" that if you have Pop-Up Blocking enabled then the exploit does not work. Once I turned off the Pop-Up blocking then the exploit showed up so some mac users might be able to safe-guard against this.

Hi jtfolden,

I see you are still a llama. I finally took that off my profile.

Ha ha!  Would you believe I didn't notice that until now. I must be as blind as a vampire bat.

Can some of you who have read Dracula, and Camilla tell me if you enjoyed reading them?

I found Dracula to be a very good book. It's fairly richly written and I think it's actually sort of refreshing to go back and read the original text after decades of movies and copycat stories.

Carmilla is actually older than Dracula and, imo, a much more interesting read. The story itself is actually semi-short and is often found these days in books along with other vampire related short stories. As luck would have it, you can read this book online. I haven't checked it entirely to see if it's unabridged but I think that it is. It's not quite the same as having a nice hardback book to cuddle up in bed with but at least it's free! :)

i've never seen any of the 1991 series. :P

You're not alone....neither have I.   ;)

...and MPI Home Video is going to cease selling the 91 series VHS tapes too!  [santa_angry]

You would think they might actually get a DVD collection out before doing that but laster time I wrote them they weren't planning on it until they were finished with the OS releases. It's not like they couldn't do both.  [santa_thumb]

You know... I'd almost recommend sending it to just about any and every outlet that might be appropriate. You really never know where it might stick or who might read it and pass it on.

« on: December 23, 2004, 07:21:38 AM »
(The WB deals would certainly seem to put a stake ([wink2]) in those rumors following the failure of the pilot to be picked up which claimed that the WB thought the pilot had been terribly cast. But then, it's often wise not to believe at least half of what you read - particularly when said rumors are unsubstantiated and sources "who choose to remain anonymous" are cited...  ::))

I don't think the quality of the 2004 pilot or it's actors really had much to do with it not being picked up, honestly. If you look at what happened during that time period last Spring, not only did the WB not pick up the new DS but they also dropped the planned Lost in Space remake (which they paid big $$$$$ to do) and canceled Angel for no good reason (It's audience had GROWN since the previous year and was getting ratings higher than Buffy had been getting it's last season). They, also, went against tradition and did not preview any of their new pilots for test audiences, instead making decisions internally - the decisions being to approve a slate of teeny bopper soap operas and reality shows.

The effects of that decision making are being felt this season, as most of the new shows are tanking.

What got me thinking about this, the other day on "Buffy", Spike (heretothough called 'Huba Huba') was wasted because Drew (heretothough called 'Skank') had left him.

Well, in the whole Buffy/Angel verse it's been established that there is no heart beat BUT that doesn't mean the circulatory system is inactive. Indeed, I've always imagined it to be a rather fast but "constant flow" system of some sort. This would explain how Spike (the BIG hubba hubba) could get drunk and, also, how vampire poisons might infect the whole body.

Btw, concerning coffins and dirt... I wonder if that wasn't mainly an idea that gained popularity with Dracula. If you read "Carmilla" which was, also, published in the late 1800's you'll find that she DID go out in daylight (with her parasol) and I do seem to recall that she could sleep in a normal bed.
