Current Talk '12 I / What band does the various Blue Whale songs?
« on: May 13, 2012, 09:07:57 PM »
I rather like some of those songs, although it is odd to me that the customers there don't get annoyed that a total of MAYBE 5 songs have ever played in their bar. Anyways, it kinds of sounds like The Tornados but I'm pretty sure it's not them - anybody know?

Current Talk '10 II / Lamar Trask's motivation?
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:48:30 PM »
I was watching the episode from 1840 where Daphne and Gerard got married and noticed something strange about the scene where Quentin arrives right after they married and Trask holds him at gunpoint to return him to the police. During that scene, Daphne clearly comes out of a trance and doesn't remember what happened to her and Gerard doesn't even bother to deny it when Quentin states that she was obviously under a spell, cast by Gerard. Trask hears all of this and is completely unphased and seems to have no problem with the fact that Quentin is innocent and he's been helping the true warlock all along. I thought Trask was only persecuting Quentin because he truly believed he was a warlock-- apparently not. So, what was his motivation? Is he part of the whole underground warlock conspiracy??? haha

If you locked all of the following villains in a room together and didn't let them out until one of them came out victorious, who would it be? Since some of these people are probably immortal, the winner didn't necessarily kill everyone, but just made them submit in one way or another. Some of these people would obviously get destroyed very early in the fight but I wanted to include every villain-- add on if any were forgotten.
Judah Zachary
Nicholas Blair
Angelique
Garth Blackwood
Count Petofi
Aristede
Laura Collins
Jeb Hawkes
All of the Trasks
Adam
Eve/Danielle Roget
Quentin Collins' Ghost
Evil Barnabas
Parallel Time Angelique
Haza and/or Oberon
Parallel Time Brutus Collins
Parallel Time Morgan Collins
Bruno
Chris Jennings/Quentin as a werewolf
I haven't quite decided but I think either Judah, Count Petofi, or Nicholas Blair would come out the winner, since there are various pairs of people who would probably go directly for each other and end up destroying each other early on in the fight. But never count out Garth Blackwood-- he's scrappy! LOL...

Calendar Events / Announcements '09 I / Dark Shadows Wiki
« on: February 15, 2009, 09:12:48 PM »
Hey, I'm sure many of you already know about this but there's a DS wiki on the internet

http://darkshadows.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Shadows

Some things are covered in great detail, but it's still very sparse in most areas. For example, there's very little info about basically everything after 1970PT (especially 1840/1692), except for a very extensive page about Roxanne. There's not even a page about Judah Zachary if that tells you anything... It would be really cool if that site became a rich reference for all things DS at some point... So if you have some free time then it would be awesome if you'd contribute!

I've recently made some major upgrades to the pages about Garth Blackwood, Evan Hanley, and Carl Collins, but there's so much more to do...  By the way the site is one gigantic spoiler so go at your own risk.

Current Talk '08 II / Count Petofi's glasses
« on: July 05, 2008, 06:28:32 AM »
I was watching some dark shadows with a friend of mine and we had a discussion about Petofi's glasses I found interesting. These glasses were THICK, as Thayer David's eyes look enormous when he wears them. I'm not sure if anyone has ever put glasses like these on, when you don't need them, but they are very uncomfortable. Your vision is really blurry, it makes you feel dizzy, and gives you a headache. Not to mention, it causes long term damage to your eyes.

So did Thayer David need such thick glasses, or did he walk around barely able to see anything just for the sake of the character? That is devotion, lol.. I suppose it's also possible that the glasses were fake, but they do appear to magnify his eyes considerably, so I thought they were real.

Current Talk '08 I / Has anyone ever mentioned that ...
« on: June 14, 2008, 03:31:26 AM »
Technically speaking, Roger Collins married his grandmother? Obviously the writers didn't seem to care, but I think it would've been slightly more sensible to have a son of Quentin/Carl/Judith be the father of Roger and Elizabeth. This need not be featured prominently in the plot, he could be away at boarding school during 1897 much the way Gabriel and Edith's kids are in 1840.
Current Talk '08 I / Ironic fact about 1897 storyline
« on: June 14, 2008, 12:02:53 AM »
Remember when Quentin was killed by Jenny early in maybe the 3rd week of the storyline? At this point Barnabas went to great lengths, including begging Angelique, to have Quentin brought back to life. But the fact is, if Quentin had died right then, then the cause of his haunting Collinwood would not have happened yet. Most likely, this would have changed history so that Quentin was not a ghost in the future, since he was still on good terms with Jamison when he died. Instead Barnabas chose a far more complicated route which involved Quentin becoming immortal, and therefore unable to be a ghost, lol...
Of course, Barnabas had no way of knowing that though ...  [ghost_smiley]

Current Talk '08 I / What happened to Willie's "fiance"?
« on: May 04, 2008, 01:08:29 AM »
Remember around episode #955 or so when Willie comes back to town announcing that he's engaged to a woman
named Roxanne. He decided to stay in town to help Barnabas fight the Leviathans, and says that "Roxanne will have to adjust, that's all". Guess what? We never heard from her again. I guess, either a) She left him when he said they were going to live in Collinsport, b) They continued to see each other and we just never heard about it, or c) She was lonely Willie's imaginary friend. :P

Current Talk '08 I / Question about Tom Jennings
« on: May 03, 2008, 04:06:00 PM »
It was revealed at one point that the werewolf curse is inherited by all male descendents of a werewolf. Chris Jenning's was shown to
actually be Quentin's (great?) grandson, which explained why he suffered from the curse. But he and Tom were twin brothers, so obviously Tom was a descendent of Q's as well, so ... Was Tom also a werewolf and we just never heard about it, or is there some reason that he didn't suffer from the curse. One can't really argue that its a recessive trait or something like that, because indentical twins have the same exact genetic makeup, so if one of them had it, the other surely should have as well.

The only way to make the DS story consistent on this point is to have Tom be a werewolf as well. Thats pretty hard to believe though, considering no one heard/saw anything about a werewolf until after Chris arrived, and Tom had clearly been around town for a while, as he was known around as many people's handyman ... Also Joe Haskell remarked about how Chris underwent a change a while back which changed him to an iintrovert and a man who moved around all the time and was hard to reach, but Tom was not like that at all, further indicating Tom wasn't a werewolf.
Any thoughts?

Current Talk '08 I / Cassandra and Tony Peterson
« on: April 30, 2008, 03:34:06 AM »
I guess this whole topic is a spoiler, so ...
I have two remarks about Angelique and Tony. The first is regarding a contradictory occurrence in their interaction. When Angelique is trying to obtain the talisman from Dr Lang which protects against witches, she bewitches Tony and forces him to go to Dr Lang's house and steal the talisman. But, wouldn't he be freed from her spell as soon as he touches the talisman? I mean, it is supposed to protect against witches right?? Seems a little strange, LOL ...

Second, why was she sexually molesting Tony while he was under her spell? (I'm referring to the forced make-out sessions they had) Angelique is evil and everything, but that just ain't right. I guess she just always had a thing for Trask? Ironic I guess ...
Current Talk '08 I / Count Petofi
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:43:21 PM »
***SPOILERS***

Before Petofi re-attached his hand, he said that when it was removed he was given 100 years to get it back. He also made a reference indicating that if he were successful, he would be granted immortality. So there is no way Petofi died in the fire with Garth Blackwood right? His eyeglasses were out there, but he must have gotten away without them or something ...

If DS had gone on they should've re-included him in the plot. Maybe show some scenes outside of Collinsport where Chris Jennings is wandering the earth looking for Petofi and eventually finds him in Alexandria (LOL!) or something, and then ends up making a terrible deal with him in exchange for a cure.

Current Talk '08 I / Questions about Jeb Hawkes and Peter Bradford
« on: April 02, 2008, 05:45:11 AM »
***Possible spoilers below***

I was recently watching a later Leviathan episode, set at a time shortly after Jeb has destroyed the box and alter and turned on the Leviathans. He's being tormented by an unseen force which he thinks is Paul Stoddard's ghost, and turns out to be Peter Bradford's ghost. In this scene they talk about how, in 1797, Jeb killed Vicki by throwing her from Widow's Hill. They also mention that Peter killed him in 1797 by throwing him from the same cliff (one of the only ways Jeb could die?). A few questions--

Was this the first time these events were referred to on the show? They sort of vaguely described the situation, so I thought maybe it was on before.

Why did Peter come back to haunt Jeb after all this time? Didn't he already kill Jeb in 1797? Why did he pop up, out of nowhere,
in 1970 on a mission to kill Jeb at all costs?

A more basic question: if Jeb died in 1797 what was he doing alive in 1970?

I feel like I missed a quick 1797 flashback or something that would explain the answers to all three of these questions, but I've glanced at the episode guide and can't find anything like that ... Any insights here would be great :)

Current Talk '08 I / Needlessly harsh behavior by 1897 Barnabas
« on: March 26, 2008, 03:52:11 AM »
SPOILER ALERT

I was watching episode 827 where King Johnny and Istvan hold Magda at widow's hill about to kill her, and Barnabas arrives. Just to show King Johnny that he meant business, he put Istvan in a trance and makes him walk off widow's hill!! He ended up striking up a deal with King Johnny shortly after anyhow, so this murder seemed totally unnecessary. By the way, Johnny didn't seem to care one bit that his tribesman/traveling companion had just died, LOL..

Current Talk '08 I / Jeff Clark = Ned Stuart?
« on: March 22, 2008, 05:04:54 AM »
SPOILERS (as if the title wasn't already one)

After Jeff Clark/Peter Bradford returns to the past, Prof Stokes hypothesizes that Peter Bradford had actually been possessing the body of a living person, and now that Peter has returned where he came from, the body was released from the possession (I believe this discussion takes place somewhere in DVD collection 12). Not too long after that, Ned Stuart arrives in town ... Since his past was never really discussed, this is plausible. It's not like Sabrina would have wondered where he went!!

This would also explain why they are identical (although in DS universe this seems like a common occurrence  [easter_grin])

Current Talk '08 I / Greg Trask and Rachel
« on: March 22, 2008, 04:05:35 AM »
I was recently watching the episode where Greg Trask finds Rachel living at Collinwood after an apparent falling out they had some years before that. The way they interacted seemed to subtlely imply that possibly Trask abused her as a child (and not just emotionally). Was this intended or am I imagining this?
