Current Talk '06 I / Barnabas' restoration of the Old House...
« on: May 03, 2006, 07:11:57 AM »
You know it was always interesting to me that when Barnabas had Willie to restore the Old House. They repaired the stairs and, what would be called, the drawing room/living room area was also restored. They definately restored Josette's room, but...

Sarah was suppose to mean as much to Barnabas as Josette did. So it would seem that once Sarah was brought into the story. We would have seen her room also at the Old House also. But they never showed Barnabas in a room that could have been his sister's room and I don't ever remember seeing Sarah in a room at the Old House that could have been her room. I think when Sarah found her party dress. It was in the trunk in Josette's room. If I remember correctly.

It was just abit odd that Barnabas would fail to restore his sister Sarah's room as he had Josette's room.

Which actor or actress on the show do you think did very well at conveying or had trouble conveying the following emotions in a storyline on the show.

Anger
Jealousy
Fear
Love
Hate
Annoyed
Boredom

Example: Grayson Hall always gets accused of over acting. Well the only time I ever see that is when she was in a scene where she had to show fear. She just didn't pull that off well. She seem to try to hard to convey that emotion and it just didn't work exactly the way she intended it to.

Now Grayson Hall had no problem with Love. As Julia everytime she looked at Barnabas it was clear she was in love with him and everytime Barnabas talked about some other woman. She conveyed Jealousy, Anger and Annoyed very well. Those emotions came across very loud and clear.

Current Talk '05 II / Writer's Block
« on: July 09, 2005, 02:47:53 AM »
This thought came to me... How did the writer's on DS deal with writer's block?
I know that all writer's experience it at one time or another.
But when a book writer experiences it... They have a bit of time to deal with it...
On a soap opera the stories are expected to be coming in quickly since they need material everyday.
So I kind of wondered if that was what happened to the stories that just seem to disappear with no plausible wrap up.
I know that DS had quite a few writer's, but I wonder if they all drew blanks at the same time sometimes?

My friend from art class did this and she said I could share it with you.

We all kind of thought Nicholas Blair was The Devil. Well my friend decided to make it so.

I wonder what Mr. Humbert Allen Astredo would say if he saw himself as this?

Current Talk '05 I / Favorite Dark Shadows special effect
« on: June 15, 2005, 11:00:05 PM »
My favorite special effect done on DS is the mirror at Nicholas Blair' s that he used to spy on everyone with.

That was a really cool effect.

I wonder how difficult that was to pull off for the special effects people?

When Julia is under Gerard's control and Barnabas has to use his hypnotic power on Julia. How did that work when Julia had her back to Barnabas and Julia has never been bitten by Barnabas?

I always thought that for Barnabas to control someone like that he had to bite them first? That they would already have to be under his power like Carolyn and Willie were for him to get them to respond to him like that.

I know that Barnabas could hypnotize people, but for some reason I have always been under the impression that he had to make eye contact with them first. Well Julia had her back to him when Barnabas ordered her to look at him.

Since Julia knows what Barnabas is. For some strange reason. I've always kind of thought that somehow that she'd be better at resisting him. The element of surprise wasn't there since Julia knows that Barnabas is a vampire.

That particular scene kind of made me wonder if perhaps Julia  was more under Barnabas's power than they revealed on the show.

Just a thought I had.

Current Talk '05 I / The final Dark Shadows episode. Spoiler Alert.
« on: April 29, 2005, 07:19:34 AM »
I was looking at the final episode and I don't know about anyone else, but to me that episode looked like a cliff hanger that never finished.

Yes Catherine and Bramwell survived the room and Melanie was cured, but when Melanie was bitten by what Ben said looked like a vampire.  Did everyone notice how the camera panned to the portrait of Barnabas. Yes...  I heard the voice over of Ben saying it was an animal attack, but while he was saying that the camera pans to the window like something more is suppose to happen. As if there is something more sinister to come.

The way that scene felt to me was that what Ben was saying, about it being an animal attack, didn't quite go with the atmosphere in the room. Like it was thrown in because that was going to be the end of the show and they had to resolve it somehow. It was, more or less, as if it ended in the middle of the script and there was another twist to come. We just didn't get to see it.

The fact it ended in the past and not the present was just strange. Maybe that was what makes the way it ended seem like there was something else suppose to happen. It just didn't feel resolved.

I know that I Dream of Jeanie got busted for showing Jeanie's belly button, but did any of the Dark Shadow storylines ever fall victim to the censor police?

Here is a art class project we had to do.

We had to take a photograph and using Photoshop do something creative with the photo so it looked more like a painting instead of a photo.

Well I decided to do Quentin. Hope you all like it.

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 I / My painting of Nicholas Blair
« on: February 26, 2005, 10:59:09 PM »
Here's a painting I did of Nicholas Blair. Now it was a first attempt... So I don't really like the way I did the eyes and the mustache. I need to pratice abit more with that.

This subject may have been already done before and if it has sorry about over looking it.

I was watching some of the DS episodes that involved Nicholas Blair and Julia Hoffman and I thought they would have made an interesting couple.

Not to say I wanted the Julia/Barnabas storyline to end now...

But it would have been kind of interesting to see Barnabas' reaction to someone luring her away from him.

In the scenes I saw Grayson Hall and Humbert Allen Astredo in... To me they had some interesting on screen chemistry.

I think they would have been interesting to watch together in a complex story that revolved around them.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / AOL 9.0 Security Edition
« on: February 13, 2005, 08:06:15 AM »
Any one else use AOL?

Word of advice. If you decide to upgrade your AOL software to the AOL 9.0  Security Edition. Do it with caution. Better yet don't do it at all.

I installed that version and my computer went crazy... Then when I tried to revert back to the earlier version of the AOL software my computer started crashing. There are no viruses on my computer either because I have several safe guards installed besides what AOL supplies and I scanned before I installed the software.

I had to do a system restore to undo what ever happened due to the 9.0 Security Edition installation.

It is obvious that AOL released that software before they resolved some problems with it... At least that was my computer's opinion.

P.S. If anyone has installed it and had no problems you were very fortunate.

Current Talk '05 I / Doing scenes in the coffins.
« on: February 08, 2005, 11:36:49 PM »
I wonder what it was like for the actors to get into the coffins and close the lid.

I could not have done it.

I don't care for dark closed in places.
