Not sure where to put this since it is off topic. My mother passed away today from ALS. She was diagnosed in late February 2012 and already in the late stages of Bulbar onset. She had lost about 90 % of her ability to speak and swallow as well as most of her ability to walk in the past week. She was ready to go and asked me yesterday to pray she passed soon. My mother was the reason I became interested in Dark Shadows and I regret she never came to one of the fest with me. During the time period Dark Shadows was on TV we talked about Barnabas Collins like he was a member of our family. She loved hearing about the cast when I would return from a festival and what they were all up to. It was a blessing she passed in peace surrounded by her four children and in her own bed.

I bought 2 weekend ( Fri-Sun) fest tickets ( no banquet) and my friend cannot go so I want to know if anyone is interested in purchasing the extra ticket from me. The ticket was $30 and I will sell it for $25. If you are interested just private message me here and we can arrange a meet up at the hotel. Cash only please~First come first serve!

Highlight of my day: Renee, Selena and I chatted with Jonathan Frid in the lobby of the Marriott about 30 minutes ago. No one was around so we said hello. Selena, who is 9 yrs old is frightened of Barnabas Collins so we asked Mr. Frid to assure her he was not as bad as she thinks. He laughed and told Selena to "sleep tight" in a menacing but joking way! He seems to be very relaxed and enjoying himself as are we!

I purchased the music cd for HODS and NODS and am just now looking through the little booklet inside. It has some interesting facts about where scenes were filmed and some that were deleted. One photo from HODS shows Maggie finding David hanging in her bedroom closet by rope (pretending to be dead) which was a deleted scene. Another piece of trivia I did not know was the HODS was originally rated X in England due to the bloody vampire scenes. Is that amazing or what

I know a few of you knew I missed last years fest in California for a family wedding. My dear friend Emmily who was just like a sister to me got married during the fest so I opted to go to that. Last night we received a call that she was in a serious car accident and had suffered cardiac arrest,brain damage and was on life support. Tonight I received a call that they will remove her from life support tomorrow. She has no brain activity and cannot breath on her own. I am devestated by this and cannot imagine life without her. She and her husband had just bought their first home together a few weeks ago. Please pray for her family and friends and please tell the people in your life how much you love them. I emailed her the night before I left for the fest and told her about my trip and signed off "Love Ya" I wish I had the chance to hug and and tell her to her face.

I was looking at the Sephora website today and saw that the cosmetic brand "philosophy" has an eye cream called Dark Shadows! I almost bought it for the name but it is kind of pricey. Isn't that a hoot!

I just was flipping through the guide and saw a movie that is scheduled for 10:00 am Eastern time today (Sunday November 20th) on TCM. The movie is called Vogues of 1938 with Joan Bennet listed as one of the stars.
