I still think Betsy Durkin looks like Monica Lewinsky.

I'm assuming she's the one that Alexandra Moltke met in recent years, as stated in one of the DS DVD interviews.

Just about a year.

Barnabas kidnapped her shortly after his arrival in 1967. Nicky Blair nearly made her his bride-of-Satan in '68--forcing her to wear an ugly dress that didn't match her shoes!

Evil!!  >:D

For me, the most disappointing part of 1840 is Gerard Stiles. We come back from PT into 1995 and 1970 to see the devastation his ghost has brought down upon Collinwood. There's the mystery of Rose Cottage, the merry-go-round, Daphne's ghost, etc.

So 1840 gets underway and we find that Stiles was actually possessed by Judan Zachary, whom, I believe, is the son of the Devil. Well, besides gaining a minion in Charles Dawson and Edith Collins, what else does he do? Take Quentin's trial: shouldn't the son of the Devil be able to have more of an effect on the outcome?

What exactly are the fringe benefits of being the Devil's spawn?

 ??? >:D

Wouldn't be much of a change from the original VW...  ;D

Okay, so VW can be even more vapid and one-dimensional--but with a groovy WB sensibility!

The WB screwed up Batman, The Lone Ranger & Tarzan. I doubt ol' Barnabas has much of a chance--if the pilot even goes to series...

Great.

Maybe Victoria Winters can be as vapid and one-dimensional as Lana Lang!

I think I like Collins Ghouls. And maybe there could be crossover episodes where Barnabas and Company visit that other WB small New England town, Stars Hollow. There are enough eccentrics there as it is so someone like Barnabas wouldn't stand out in the slightest.  [lghy]
Ooh! Barnabas could take a bite out of Lorelai Gilmore!

TV Guide is reporting today on its website that The WB is developing a new DS for Fall 2004.

So what will it be like on The Frog? Barnabas' Creek? Collinwood? The Julia Hoffman Experiment?

If they tinker with DS the way they have with Angel this year, then expect this DS to go the way of Tarzan.

As for daytime soaps, their ratings are eroding constantly, and I doubt they will all be on the air in 10 -15 years from now.
Industry insiders say that the demise of the soap is actually probably less than five years away. That's why shows like Days of Our Lives are killing off major characters--to get the high-dollar people off the payroll as a means of survival.

But the real reason the form is dying is because the writing generally sucks and is totally manipulative, unnatural and silly. And casting directors tend to cast genetic masterpieces as opposed to people who are pretty much good looking, but who can actually act--like DS did all those years ago.

Port Charles probably also failed because it was against--in most markets--The Young & The Restless, TV's top-rated soap.

Passions--Spike's favorite soap--is also big with the supernatural storylines--but, oddly enough, now that PC is canceled, it is TV's lowest rated soap.

If soaps do go the wayside, the producers and writers have no one to blame but themselves, for they are the ones killing off the audience.

Clarice Blackburn rocks--and is one of my favorites for the opening narration.

I liked it when Tad finally gave Barnabas the what-are-you-gonna-do-about-it speech.

Good Barnabas is just so clueless at times...
