Current Talk '11 II / Re: Depp/Burton DARK SHADOWS Spoilers
« on: April 09, 2012, 01:25:04 PM »
Just heard bits and peices of the soundtrack. I love it! Now thats my DS!

I am sure I will enjoy it for what it is. Just a little upset that I had to wait forty years for this. When they cancelled the show it was a void. I was 12. As a kid I was all about Dark Shadows. Fond memories of playing Dark Shadows with my late sister. I was always Angelique...she was either Maggie or Daphnie. This movie as a stand alone might be just fine but it does not fill the void I rememeber feeling when the show  ceased production. Guess you can never go back. Sigh. I miss them both.

I hate what they did to my Dark Shadows. Burton, you ruined it. It should be creepy not goofy.

btw, Grayson was away for a couple of weeks in the autumn of '68 because I believe that that was when the "End of the Road" shoot took place out in Great Barrington, Mass.

I never knew that about Great Barrington. I live 5 miles away. I would love to find that movie. I thought I knew a lot about DS trivia. Guess I was wrong.

By that time I already  caught on to the formula. I knew he would be back. Just a matter of how they will do it. Although I kept waiting for Maggie to come back. I knew we would never see Alexandra as Vicky because my mother read it some soap magazine.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: New Default Theme
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:02:15 PM »
If I am understanding this correctly I can change the default profile on my end? I am having trouble with the new blue theme. I personally find it too bright and I have very bad eyesight. I am not spending as much time reading the boards because it bothers my eyes. If I can change it on my end how do I do it?

I am in too. Just bought a new copy for $16.00 on Amazon.com. Should be fun. I only saw ione or two epsiodes of the 91 series...if I recall there was some cute English guy I was hanging  around with in  91 who kept me away from the tv but in the "pubs"   [ghost_smiley]

When I was working on DREAMS OF THE DARK, Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from TITANIC was playing everywhere, all the time.

OMG   I did not know that you wrote that book. I just picked it up used...sorry no royalties...off amazon.  I just started it I am only at the beginning but it got me hooked from the first page. Can't wait to finish it.

But that was also fairly close to the debacle with the footage that was used on MPI's 25th Anniversary tape, so there may have still been a bad taste in his mouth over that.

So what happened on that tape that "left a bad taste in his mouth?"

I remember seeing HODS at the Levittown Theater on Long Isaland. Yes the good old days here too, the matinees we also 50 cents. I went with a group of my friends.  We usually walked to the theater from the neighboring town of East Meadow. I was about 11. My twin daughters are now 12. I can't imagine giving them that much freedom now days.  ( As a sideline one of my daughters loves watching the DVDs with me. !)

The hysterically funny thing would be if he'd visited here while the whole touching his hair tally was displayed right on the BoardIndex page.

I can't tell you how sorry I am that I missed that!
I believe it was the oldest son. Tom nd Chris were twins.  Chris was born first ...so he was the child that was cursed.
(I hope I used the spoiler button correctly)

Ok I'm back. I justed watched the  DVD Set Disk 3 Scene 1:

There he is again...this time his victim is poor little Nora. I know he wnted to get her back in the house but did he have to be so rough. I mean she is only a kid!

I think I will have to just keep a tally sheet. He is three for three on this set. Three appearances in a row, three different females. Three acts of pushing and shoving

OK usually I am more of a lurker than a poster.  Over the years I have read  many comments about how Roger Davis manhandles his co- stars. I could never understand what everyone was tallking about. I was an "original" viewer and missed the sci- fi re-broadcastings. I am now rediscovering my childhood obsession.  I always thought RD was kinda of cute. (Please know that I was a pre teen and gratefully my tastes have changed)

I have been watching DVD set 13. It starts right before Barn's trip to 1897.

Disc 1: Roger Davis as the protective older brother Ned Stuart. He is practically mauling the actress that was playing his sister. Poor Sabrina is in a catatonic state and she has this  idiot brother pawing all over her. I thought her grey wig would fall off her head.

Disc 2: There he is again grabbing and shaking Beth...not because of anger but out of caring.

What a weird way to play those scenes. I am sure it was not the director's instructions.

Ewwww!  It's hard to believe I thought of him as a heartthrob!
