Imagine it, Gerard ... having Willie as your tutor to bring you current on 175 years of history and culture? PLUS all the nuances? It's a wonder Barnabas was able to present himself as credibly as he did.

I do like time travel stories. Some people who wrote to a DS newsletter I used to read commented how (in a later episode) did Barnabas learn to drive? Maybe Willie or Julia showed him this skill, and each could have found a birth certificate for him, but he did have a lot to learn about modern times, when DS did Quentin's story, they had already invented the telephone, so they wouldn't be strange to him. Although planes would be. It would make an interesting pieces of DS fiction about how Barnabas adjusted to the present, and how Vicki had to adjust to the past. Time travel stories are commonplace now, but at the time of DS, there was only Star Trek and Time Tunnel doing stories about journeys into the past.

Yeah, she really has that zinger-look with her eyes down cold. And I never tire watching her mouth and jaw tremble with rage. You're both right.

I do get a kick out of how Angelique can give a look, and that satisfied smirk she gives after creating some revenge is a sight to behold too. About clothes, In the 91 series, they had Vicki borrow some gowns from Angelique, which struck me funny because the actress playing Vicki in that series was shorter than the actress playing Angelique. I wonder if Lara Paker's novel is still out there. I would love to read it. I often think the whole 1795 story is kind of a dark humour at anyone who thinks the past was romantic dances and pretty gowns. I did see all of the series and someone who wrote a concordance about it, often felt there were gaps in telling Angelique's story. I guess that's for the viewers to supply those missing pieces. I recall how in the early days of the series they had a different picture of Josette in the Collins family history book.
Yeah, the portrait does arrive later and Angelique gets creative with it!
/quote]

I did get a kick out of how Angelique does strange things to the portrait, I think Barnabas
got a letter from Josette saying she had her portrait done and wanted him to have it before her arrival.
I always wanted to yell at Vicki "Don't say that!" Knowing how suspicious people will be about someone "seeing" events and people. I do love how Angelique fools a lot of people in this story. You just wonder if everyone at the big house was taking a stupid pill.
I could watch anything with Barnabas, Quentin, Angelique, and Julia in it a dozen times.

No . .she wasn't at Collinwood yet or Barnabas' attrociously boring party where she appeared . . .and Julia was 'telling' them how to do it although they've **all** done it before.

Vicki was in an earlier seance where they did contact Josette, and Julia wasn't on the scene yet. Neither was Barnabas, that one had a happier fate than this one. I did enjoy all of this when I first saw it. Although Julia does believe in science, the most skeptical person might change their mind after a week (or a couple of months) at Collinwoood.

Set your VCR, you don't want to miss that one. I won't even tell you, it would spoil it since you haven't seen it yet. It's great.

Maybe Barnabas powers worked better on women, and maybe Willie felt more guilt than Carolyn. I did get a kick out of these scenes when I first saw them. Maybe barnabas didn't believe Carolyn should do anything awful (like Willie had to do) because she's a woman. He did tell her their relationship would be different because Willie was only a servant, and she was his cousin.

I don't mind wavy hair, I get so tired of straight hair on women. I wish it would go out of style for a month on TV.But, I got a kick out of Julia's different hairdos throughout DS.

Priceless M, priceless!

I would love it if Julia did say such things. I could never understand Barnabas idolizing Josette anyway. I always thought she was a wimp and a crybaby. Many's the time I wondered why either Julia (or Angelique) didn't tell him to get a grip. As for the family, his family does seem a little bit out there.

It would be a shame if someone had told me of all the plot outcomes, I didn't much care for the new Dr. Woddard either, I think the writers decided he and Burke didn't have anywhere else to go plotwise, after all Vicki had to remain at Collinwood for a while, and Dave would naturally tell what he had learned. I didn't think Sarah was much of a sister telling(or hinting) at Barnabas secret. Maybe she saw the future and that's why she kept Willie, Julia, Maggie and David from being done away with.

LOL, Gerard!! Sounds like a DS spoof on "The Carol Burnett Show." You know, with Harvey Korman playing Roger, and so on ...
I would love to see another DS story (even with new actors as long as Lysette Anthony returned as Angelique) where other stories were played out, I know the originals now, and wouldn't mind if some new ones were tried.
