Current Talk '04 I / Re:Favorite Character
« on: February 07, 2004, 04:00:32 AM »
My number one favorite DS character always was, always is, and will always be Maggie Evans. Beautifully played by Kathryn Leigh Scott from 1966 to 1970, she had a certain love that made one just want to be her significant other.

First off, grayson would slap you silly for suggesting she was 49 in 1967. . .she was actually 44 trying to slide by as 41 . . .But I do agree, Frances Fisher would be a very good Julia. . i liked her years back when she was on Guiding Light as some sorta record producer who was interested in Lujak or something. .then as the tough whore in Forgiven and for anyone who's seen Female Perversions.  .oh well, nuff said. . I think that even Grayson would say, 'yep she's the gal'. . . ;)

LOL! Well SOMEBODY was born in 1918 then!

Current Talk '03 II / What did you think of the interviews?
« on: December 22, 2003, 03:01:36 PM »
What did you all think of the interviews that accompanied the Lara Parker-narrated episode today? I loved both of them, especially Lela Swift's. I liked what she said about Joan Bennett. Dan Curtis seemed to be.....a jolly man. I liked what he had to say too. I really enjoyed the clips from the B/W days too, because I've only seen 1967-1971. It was a great job well done, if you consider the situation they were in. I'd panic if I owned a show who had an episode lost...

I thought it was strange that the young Ms. Stokes was associating with the adults such as Quentin and Gabriel. *sheds tear* It was just a month a two or ago when she playing with Tad...

All My Shadows, ur from the SON board, right?

Yep, that's me. Now that I think about it, Marj Dusay would be good as Liz. She played such an evil woman on AMC and is such a female dog on GL, it'd be nice to see her be moral...

Mark, I saw the movie you're thinking of too. It was called "Lucy and Desi: Before the Laughter." I didn't really like it either, but Frances was very convincing as Lucy! Maurice Benard on the other hand as Desi......let's just say he was as good back then as he is currently on GH...

I love Eden Reigel but she is WAAAAAAAAAY too young for Julia. Grayson was (I think) 49 in 1967, and Eden will be 23 in fall 2004. What was this Terry Morrow guy on when he wrote that?! Here is my insight...

ELIZABETH COLLINS STODDARD
I consider Liz to be the main female role. She was the 60s matriarch of the Collins clan and Joan also played the matriarchs of the past Collins too, so we must get a type like that. I know she has an English accent, but what the hell I say Joan Collins makes a great Liz. And the name irony is there...

BARNABAS COLLINS
Barnabas must be played by a handsome man who is clever in his acting. Someone like "All My Children"'s Vincent Irizarry. I would suggest AMC's Michael E Knight but I'd just crack up seeing him as a vampire.

VICTORIA WINTERS
Vicki must be played by a raven-haired beauty and for this role, I'd suggest Eden Reigel. Eden has the beauty and is a great actress. She would be able to pull of Vicki very well.

CAROLYN STODDARD
Now this one I'm stumped on. Heck, I'll just say Paris Hilton as a joke.

DR. JULIA HOFFMAN
A Julia actress should be slightly beautiful but modestly so. I think Frances Fisher is a good choice. Some might know her has Rose's mother from "Titanic."

MAGGIE EVANS
One name comes to mine: Rebecca Budig of AMC. Great actress and is almost as beautiful as KLS. I think she'd be great.

1) Best Edge of Your Seat Moment
I too say 1995.

2) Most Boring Time of the Show
The John Yaeger/Cyrus Longworth episodes. Except when Yaeger humps Maggie. That was hilarious!

3) Most Surprising "Change"
Barnabas realizes his love for Angelique.

4) Best Actress
Nancy Barrett. I don't care if you consider her leading or supporting, I think she was fabulous the whole year. I especially loved her as Carolyn Loomis in 1970PT.

5) Best Supporting Actress
Hard to choose. I liked Elizabeth Eis a lot.

6) Best Actor
I say Selbs too. He was great this year.

7) Best Supporting Actor
Big Lou was pretty entertaining.

8) Saddest Moment
I was crying when Angelique died in 1840 too...

9) Theme stuck in Your Head
Without a doubt: "Ode to Angelique" Except for when Bruno played it on piano.

10) Most annoying kid
That tall lanky Leviathan. Forgot his name...

11) Storyline with the Most Class
The "Rebecca" Remake of 1970PT.

12) Scariest Moment
Collinwood in ruins in 1995.

13) Funniest Moment
Charity is possesed by Pansy Faye and performs "I Wanna Dance with You."

14) Most Ridiculous Storyline
Leviathan. The Shadow didn't help much either.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:My Favorite Thing about 1841PT
« on: December 20, 2003, 06:06:30 PM »
My favorite thing about 1841PT is definatly the character of Melanie Collins. Nancy played all of her characters with the same charm and somewhat spunk and I really enjoy her work on the show.

My LEAST favorite thing, and perhaps my least favorite character of all of DS's history, is WITHOUT A DOUBT the character Morgan Collins. Ugh I hate him. Did you see the part where he asked Catherine where Daph was and she said that she was at Bramwell's and he's like "But she knows Bramwell is my enemy!" SO WHAT?! Daphne is not your slave Morgan! She can see whomever she wants! She's a grown woman! Just because you hate Bramwell doesn't mean that your in-laws must hate him too! The nerve of him! And another thing, Morggie: BACK OFF THE MELANIE

Ya know what else is astounding?  They didn't even mess up the bed.  (Could they have done it on the floor?)   :o

Perhaps the kitchen table?

Current Talk '03 II / Re:There's a KITCHEN in that house!!!!

The Collins' kitchen reminds me way too much of Cyrus' lab.

BTW: There was a dinner scene in HODS after Carolyn died. Remember when Stokes was trying to convince everyone that Carolyn was murdered by a vampire and Liz didn't want to here it so she stormed away.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Will DS come back???
« on: August 07, 2003, 07:58:41 PM »
I hope it stays on Sci-Fi. I started watching in Feb. 2002, and I don't have any videos or DVD. I have been writing my cable company for over a year to get SoapNet, so I can enjoy the classic shows thye have, and now if DS goes there, I'll have more reason to pester them for it!

Current Talk '03 II / Angelique Trying to Get Bruno Drunk?
« on: August 01, 2003, 12:38:39 AM »
In one of the best performances I've ever seen on DS, Angelique fought off Bruno and took charge of him with Lara Parker's fierce acting leading the way. The little "check talk" she had with Bruno was such great acting. The line was: "Don't touch me! I'm in charge now, and you sold me the right to be! Now go over there and get yourself a drink to calm your rather TATTERED nerves!" Had the line been said by anyone else, it wouldn't have clicked. But I do have something that's been bugging me....was Angelique secretly trying to rekindle her affair with Bruno by getting him drunk? I mean, she's going to offer a hostile person something drink, and doesn't expect him to keep on drinking? She had better be lucky he left for Maggie instead of staying at the cottage, because he probably would have mistaked "Alexis" for Angelique and would have made a play for her.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Having Troubles with Changing Profiles
« on: July 11, 2003, 09:48:55 PM »
I wanted to change my avatar today to a great picture of my beloved KLS, and when I went to do so, I changed my password also, from something that was sent to me (I had forgotten it recently) to something more rememorable. When I clicked "Change Profile," it said that The Name field was blank and that it was required. I clicked back, and I'm 100% positive that there is NO field onside the word "Name:" or for the thing above it......help me out Bitch or Bastard.... ;D

1970PT's Julia is much more fun that the regular 1967-1971 Julia! Didn't you just love it when Barnabas was looking into the PT room during Leviathans and Julia would be telling Liz off? And the things she did to poor Maggie....if I were Maggie I'd give her the hardest slap I could give her. Then I'd get Quentin to fire her and send her away! But still, she was fun.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Maggie Collins, as seen by Grandma Moses
« on: July 11, 2003, 07:56:27 PM »
As much as I love my Maggie, and I really truly do, that "portrait" was just.....AWFUL. I was folding laundry while watching the episodes, and I was on a big huge towel, and I only caught a glance of the portrait. I dropped that towel so fast and pressed Rewind, and gawd......I just about died laughing! Is it just me or did Maggie look as if she was hangin' with Laura and Nellie in Walnut Grove?
