Annie, while I respect your opinion, I most definitely disagree that this was a wonderful post. Did you actually see the comments within his post. I thought we had this all talked out last time but Im going to rehash one more time.

I orginally sided with you and even Bob on the basic points he raised. Health issues, budget issues ,travel issues are all valid. I totally get it as I said before. But why harangue on insults related to the various ticket prices. The ones he seemed to have the biggest bitch about were the brunch and the tintype photos. Let me say it again... Those options were Al A Carte. Do you know what Al A Carte means? They were totally separate from the admission charge and fans had the option of purchasing them or NOT and in no way be denied access to the event. Why should anybody have a problem giving fans additional choices that they were totally free to decline on. Let the fans actually attending decide if it is worth it or not rather than a poster who had no intentions of attending this or future fan events for everybody else. Besides, I think the brunch sold out..so whats your problem .

Next, he lumped in a comment did KLS need to offer these options because she needed to pay for her property taxes on her estate. Thats an incredible low blow on top of his previous ageist insults and questioning her marriage. Wow...

His final comment though really got my blood boiling. He called individuals who dont agree with his views "Lemmings"  and  basically comparing them to mindless rodents. Ive run a DS fan club in Orlando for 34 years and have a lot of passion for DS. First time around accusing fans attending DS events not having a life..now being compared to a rodent...I find both remarks to be highly insulting.

Bob seems totally intent on being a complete huge wet blanket for fans wanting to attend and enjoy DS fan events he himself has no intention of attending now or in the future. Also, Im puzzled why rehash the same complaint about Fests again when the Fests have basically announced this will be the final large Fest type event. You got what you wanted.. Why relitigate  the same grievances like a dog playing tug of war with a sock who wont let it go. Why not post I have health or budget or travel issues ..I wont be attending but hope everyone who does has a great time. Just leave it at that...Posting with snark or insults
towards the celebs or fans who strongly disagree with you is totally uncalled for.

I appreciate KMR's posting putting the Lyndhurst fundraiser in proper perspective. Yes, at first glance seeing 60th anniversary party celebration and KLS as only person mentioned as honoree does make it appear misleading as a very expensive Dark Shadows fundraiser for sure. However, a deeper dive shows its actually the 60th anniversary of Lyndhurst being put in registry for historical landmarks. In fact 1966 was an impressive year being also 60th anniversary of Batman and The Monkees. Who knows, perhaps they can get Burt Ward or Micky Dolenz to swing by. LOL. Lyndhurst is a huge property with huge overhead.. the grounds, utilities, maintenence and refurbishing. Plus Lyndhurst is closed during the 3 month winters with no visitor income. Government cutbacks on funding for the arts and humanities are forcing non profits into coming up with creative ways to make up for budget shortfalls. I certainly don't take offense that Dark Shadows fans are not the target audience for this particular fundraiser. Our club members had no problems donating to have 2 commemorative bricks placed in the greenhouse courtyard... we are actually pretty proud of that. The ticket monies are going directly to Lyndhurst and whatever monies are raised after overhead goes toward their budget which is a good thing for DS fans to better enjoy the property at their leisure. BTW, the top $10,000 figure is for 8 people and when you consider what influence seekers are forking over for Mir a Lago fundraisers, $500 is really peanuts actually.
