Yes, the Greystone trip was quite something. After waiting a LONG time for the bus, I got to Greystone probably a couple hours after the scheduled trip start time. But it turns out that I had plenty of time* to tour the house and enjoy the grounds. The park staff were very nice and helpful.

*Although, had I spent any more time I likely would have missed the bus trip back to the hotel. At the time I'd been told the buses would be returning, I went up to the parking lot where we'd been dropped off. No bus(es), and no lines of people. After wandering around a bit, I saw someone waving their arms, and I went over and was told the bus was on the street at the bottom of the hill.

I took part on the Greystone trip at the 25th anniversary fest in 1991,  and don't recall any problems with buses getting up the hill to the parking lot. Maybe these were the same buses and in bad need of repair. 😄

The article says "this is the first-ever television adaptation." I can't believe how many times sites like that get simple facts wrong.

The only thing by Mike Flanagan that I've seen is The Haunting of Hill House, and I was so appalled by that desecration of Shirley Jackson's work that I have not been able to bring myself to watch anything else he's done.

When this was first announced, I contemplated attending. I went to the 25th anniversary festival in 1991, which was great, but I haven't been to one since. Eventually I decided not to go, but recently I began rethinking that decision. This is supposedly the final one. I would regret never having gone to another one. So, today I bit the bullet and bought my tickets and committed to a hotel reservation (non-refundable).

I'm hoping this will be a chance to rectify one major error from 35 years ago. Back then I was a very timid young man, not really sure yet who I was. While I was immensely enjoying all of the scheduled events (including the trip to Greystone), I don't think I interacted much--if at all!--with anyone. (I was very starstruck, but I do think I did manage to respond to a casual "hello" or some such from Robert Rodan in the elevator. But my inevitably timid response wasn't due solely to my general shyness. During the DS run, I was too young to really appreciate how attractive the actors were, and of course Robert had been covered with Adam makeup on TV. But there, close up in the elevator ... my goodness ... 😍)

Anyway, now I will be attending as an arguably less timid old man, and I am really looking forward to meeting other attendees and sharing our love of DS and DS-adjacent things. Hopefully I'll have the honor of meeting the cousins on this board who have been such a pleasure to read and interact with.

She is fully justified in being proud of that movie. She was amazing in it.

I love the line in the TV Dawn to Dusk article, when they said the cast could be seen "lurking around the studios of M-G-M". Not the Culver City lot, mind you, but the Tarrytown lot, which they seemed to have divested themselves of immediately after NODS was made.

I watched Strange Paradise back during its original run--that is, until it was no longer shown in my area, I think. I enjoyed it a lot, even though not nearly as much as DS. I liked the eerie "other-worldly" Caribbean setting, and the ways that the supernatural phenomena differed from those on DS. Paperback Library published a series of three novels, like the Marilyn Ross DS novels, and I bought all of them. (I had always wondered if Dorothy Daniels was really Marilyn (Dan) Ross, but nope, Dorothy Daniels was her real name--even though she also wrote under pseudonyms.)
