Hi Robin,

I don't usually read your Robservations since I have all of the MPI Dark Shadows videos, but I have been reading about the eps that Noah Gifford (Craig Slocum) is in. I am enjoying the pics of him too. These are some of my favorite eps. I agree, wonderful perfomances all around on today's shows. Thanks Robin, your Robservations are great!

I am replying to the request that everyone mention every actor's various quirks. Craig Slocum has one that I just love. He moves his hips in a certain way that is sexy. I've seen him do it in both of his roles. A definite enhancement for my viewing experience!

Hi Donna,

I hope your son has a great birthday, and I hope you and your family have a great weekend too. On Saturday, my daughter and I are going to a pool party and BBQ. A boy in her class is turning 6. We were invited to play and eat along. Anyone else going to any celebrations on Saturday?

Hi Rainey,

It's nice to be in the one percent of all women who are stay at home Moms. We are privileged! I worked in a corporate office for 11 years. Been there, done that. It's nice to have a choice and to be able to do what you want. I certainly do not envy the women of 1795, especially their clothing. I would die here in Las Vegas in the summer time wearing all that!

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Tapes Or DVD?
« on: April 12, 2002, 12:50:20 AM »
I bought all of the MPI Dark Shadows videos 4 years ago. I store each tape in a plastic storage case. It protects the tape and its cover. I'm in no rush to buy a DVD player. As long as my VCRs still work, they're all I need for now. I also figure it will be a few years until the whole Dark Shadows series is put on DVD. As far as whatever "extras" are included, that's no big concern for me. I know there won't be an interview of Craig Slocum.

I think horseback riding and walking were popular things to do. If one had artisitic talent, drawing would be another one.  I'm a modern day Mom who doesn't have to work, a luxury in this day, a regular thing back then. With all the Collins's hired servants, I can picture a lady getting quite bored unless she had some kind of a schedule. I think planning things to do would be at the top of my list!

Is the exchanging of money relating to the Collins family only, or does anybody on the show count? Nicholas Blair gave Harry Johnson a $100 dollar bill in a scene, and in one of today's eps, Nathan Forbes gave Ben Stokes money which he refused, in exchange for information.

Happy Birthday Mfmdpt! That's quite a name you have there. All these birthdays keep reminding me that mine is fast approaching. It's so funny, from the time I was 12 years old, I wanted to be 18, then when I turned 18 I wanted to be 21. When I turn 38 next month, I'll be looking for 40, so I can have one of those Over The Hill parties with black balloons, streamers and all. Maybe someone will hang Barnabas's cane on my rocking chair. Have a good one!

Happy Birthday again ProfStokes! I know it was yesterday. Isn't this birthday number 18? I could've swore that came up when we all went out to dinner a few weeks ago. That's a fun time, brings back lots of memories. I hope you had a great birthday! My daughter and I just came inside for a little break, now we are going back out to the pool and spa. I enjoy your well written posts too, Prof Stokes. Looking forward to seeing you again at the Dark Shadows Festival in June!

I agree there are some pretty good scenes with Mrs. Johnson and Harry, also with Adam, Carolyn, and Nicholas Blair. As to why Harry disappeared, I was told by a most reliable source that it was because the Adam Story was coming to a close. Adam himself just disappeared too as I recall. So my theory is that Mr. Slocum left to do something on his own. He was on Broadway too, and went back and forth from the east and west coasts, also did a tour. He started acting when he was 17 years old, and passed away at 38. He did a lot in that 21 year period. On Dark Shadows, wasn't  "Mrs. Johnson's daughter", only mentioned once by Mrs. Johnson, very early on in the series? I have thought this was another one of the writers blunders and they forgot what was said, so it turned out instead Mrs. Johnson had a son. As I recall also in the show, the character of Dr. Hoffman was to have been a man. Harry Johnson did not know who he was dealing with, the Collins family notorious for supernatural goings on, Nicholas Blair a warlock, and don't forget Monster Man Adam, there was also a witch, vampire, and ghosts on the premise besides that. Not exactly a good place for even a good con man to single out his victims. Harry had all odds against him. This group would be a challenge for anyone! We all have different opinions about the actors on Dark Shadows, and we all have our fave. Craig Slocum is mine!

So many of the Dark Shadows actors got to be very dramatic and have romantic scenes which kind've established them as the top characters. Craig Slocum wasn't given a chance to reach his full potential. I have seen him in other roles, including romantic scenes, and I thought he was great. The Dark Shadows writers could have done a lot more with the character of Harry Johnson. There were some good opportunities for some dramatic scenes, there might have also been good stuff for him and Mrs. Johnson. It would have been nice to know more about her too. The Adam storyline wasn't about them, but still they could have done lots with those characters, given Harry Johnson more to do, and especially a love interest, if only they had let Carolyn and Harry have a real romance. It's too bad that Craig wasn't there that one day when Edward Marshall took over the role. It would have been fun if Harry had met up with Quentin's ghost! Carol, I'm glad you enjoyed my Craig Slocum Website, http://members.tripod.com/~MrJuggins/cheryl/slocum.htm

Craig may be gone, but he is not forgotten. He did also have a fanclub when he was on Dark Shadows. I wish more people would get enthusiastic about him. Yes, it is such a shame that Mr. Slocum passed away at such a young age from diabetes. How unfortunate that he was stricken with this disease. He lives on in my heart, and I adore him.

I will just mention that someone used a drawstring off of some draperies to try and strangle somebody.
