David locks Mrs. Johnson in the cottage, the lights go out, and the ghost of Quentin appears, giving Mrs. Johnson quite a fright! Maggie rescues her.

Samantha and Quentin

Would have like to have seen them truly together as a couple on the show. On another interesting note, at a couple of Dark Shadows Festivals I attended, David Selby spoke very highly of the late Virginia Vestoff, and paid her a big compliment by saying she had the prettiest red hair he had ever seen.

I saw both presentations at The Vista and the NY festival last year. I agree it was a definite highlight. I'm looking forward to seeing what was not shown at those presentations. I have both movies on video, have to say House Of Dark Shadows is my favorite of the 2 films. It would be nice to see these films restored.

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Unwanted Charactor Question
« on: April 24, 2002, 01:01:14 AM »
I agree with Cassandra, I think Jeremy Grimes was a pointless character. He was the one I was going to mention, but couldn't remember his name. Dark Shadows could have gone without him for sure. As for Harry Johnson, my favorite, who has also been mentioned, like it or not he's there, and on my avatar. In reply to Mike S, who said they never really did anything with the character, and that the opportunity was there, I think the character should have been more developed and that we should have seen more of him. There are some great scenes. I think the show's writers got so involved with other things that they just didn't give enough thought to Harry Johnson. He was a minor character that should have had more depth and air time. In reply to Joeytrom, obviously you do not like Craig Slocum, but I do wish you would not be disrespectful to the deceased here. Unlike you, I did not like the one episode with Edward Marshall as Harry Johnson. Maybe that's why they did away with the character, because he didn't make the grade? He just plain wasn't Craig Slocum. I for one have a problem with that! Craig should have stayed on Dark Shadows. If it weren't for him and my enthusiasm over him, I may not be here. He is what really got me back into Dark Shadows the last few years, so I am glad that he was and always will be a part of it.

Carolyn and Julia are walking from the drawing room into the foyer. While Julia is talking to Carolyn, somebody moves in front of the camera and another man hurries through a door, and is still holding the door and peeking back in the room.

Current Talk '02 I / Funny Excuses
« on: April 22, 2002, 03:14:06 AM »
There were some of the funniest excuses given on Dark Shadows for strange behavior, similar to the excuse "My dog ate my homework." What classic excuses can you recall, and who was involved? A scene that comes to my mind is when Harry Johnson goes upstairs at Collinwood to look for Carolyn Stoddard, to tell her that Barnabas Collins is downstairs waiting for her, and he catches her coming out of the closed off west wing with a tray full of dishes. She looks at Harry with a terrified look and her mouth drops open. To cover up her wrong doing of hiding Adam in the west wing, she excuses herself by snapping at him and saying, "What are you doing up here?!" He could have very well asked her the same thing, she was the guilty one!

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Tower Room
« on: April 21, 2002, 11:57:27 PM »
There are still many episodes of Dark Shadows that I haven't watched since its first run in the 60's, and caught a few when it aired again in the late 70's, early 80's. I recall a similiar situation involving the tower room where a woman, don't remember the character, but think it was KLS, kept seeing a light in the tower room, and was told by someone that there could not have been a light on because nobody had been using that room for 100 years. Does anyone else remember that? Vlad, when I was in the 4th grade, I was friends with some kids I went to school with who came from a large family and lived in a good size  Victorian home. It also had a tower room which was really neat. I went up there to see it and it would have been my first choice of the bedrooms. One of the older kids in the family had it of course. Being the youngest of 3, I know how that goes. The house reminded me of a mini Collinwood. Needless to say it was my favorite house in the neighborhood. Here in Las Vegas, NV I have seen a couple of homes that had an Old House look to it. One in particular. My house looks like neither, but it's big enough and has everything I need. For all this back in the day talk, I was too little to remember much of the 60's. I was born in 1964. The late 70's and early 80's, for me those were the days!

I will choose Carolyn Stoddard and Harry Johnson as most unlikely couple. Nobody suspects anything about their secret romance. Harry made a good chauffeur and beau hunk too!

Can I go to the room of Harry Johnson? Wherever his room was, I would be there too!

I think on my memorial brick for Trask I will state this matter of fact:

He gave warning to the powers of darkness and they did not listen to him!

Carol, you are right. Craig was 38 when he died. I will be 38 next month. It is sad that he passed away so young. He is missed. I will never forget him. I fell in love with him. Cupid really shot his arrow straight to my heart! I do not know how old Craig Slocum was when he was diagnosed with diabetes. The kind he had strikes in childhood, known as type 1 or juvenile diabetes. Insulin is a life support but not a cure. He had the most complex and challenging form of diabetes. The research frontiers that are constantly being advanced are equally complex and challenging. Jennifer, I too like Craig Slocum best as Harry Johnson. I think he looked pretty sharp. You mentioned that diabetes is always hard to control. Long term survival has improved in Type 1 Diabetics, a direct result of medical research and improved technology. More and better drugs are also available. People like Craig are now strongly encouraged to take up intense therapy aimed at tight control, which is very time consuming and a bother, but neglect can result in death. I share your hope for a cure. My prayer along with yours and others is that one day the cure will come and unravel the mysteries of diabetes and eliminate all of its deadly complications. Steve, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your online friend. How sad! Last year, my Mom's best friend lost her husband right before Christmas. He was having insulin reactions and died in his sleep. I am so glad that Craig is back on Dark Shadows. I certainly hope so too that he will have some new fans at the Dark Shadows Festival this year. There just might be a treat for Craig Slocum fans. Wait and see. I would love to meet anybody who was in his fan club!

I remember Harry Johnson coming down the staircase at the Old House and quickly heading out the back way.

My favorite props are the Barnabas cane and the black onyx ring he wore. I have replicas of both of these items. They are proudly displayed in my mega Dark Shadows collection!

People on this board have quite an imagination. Since I am coming from a totally different viewpoint here, I will mention that Craig Slocum had diabetes and also died from it. Sometimes diabetics get frequent thirst. That may explain the "licking his lips so much today" thing. I was in seventh heaven today watching Craig as Noah Gifford, he is one hunk of a pirate. BABE ALERT!
