Did David Henesy or Denise Nickerson ever do a voiceover?

SPOILER
At the end of the Adam story, Professor Stokes told Adam he was sending him to a clinic for plastic surgery.  Perhaps this was their way of getting a new actor to play the role down the road if they did decide to bring him back later on.

Adam is not ever mentioned again until Parallel Time 1970 when Barnabas and Julia see Roxanne on Tim Stoke's table and comment on the similarities to Adam.
I am not that familiar with Joel Fabiani, who played Paul Stoddard for one episode where Liz talks about his death, except for his brief run on Dynasty.  What if DC hired him to play Paul instead of Dennis Patrick?  How do any you think he would have done in the part?

Don McKeown, who played Larry Chase in Parallel Time 1970, provided the voiceover in several episodes where he didn't make an appareance at all.

Current Talk '04 II / Using Footage of Joan Bennett's Movies on DS
« on: September 28, 2004, 04:35:12 PM »
On an episode of Falcon Crest, where Angela learns that richard Channing is her son, whom she thought died at childbirth, we are shown a flashback sequence to Angela being informed by the doctor that she lost the baby.

The producers cleverly use footage from an old film of Jane Wyman's for the flashback.

I was wondering if any footage of Joan Bennett's old movies could have been used, for say, the 1949 flashbacks?

The episode synopsis' I was referring to was written by the DS writers themselves prior to writing scripts for those episodes.  I got copies of them from some fan who copied them from microfilm I believe.

Those synopsis can be found on any DS script on the first page.  They were not written by the fans at all.  It was one or all of the DS writers who used "young Collins" or "the young man" instead of a name for the character of Barnabas.

Quote from: mscbryk"
the first time i remember hearing "the part of....will be played by...." on d.s. was with the burke devlin re-casting.did they do it with sam evans, matthew morgan or willie loomis in earlier re-casts?i forget.did they do it when betsy durkin took over as v.?

They didn't annouce the Matthew Morgan recast, probably because the first actor only appeared three times in the first 2 weeks and then the character didn't appear for a couple of months.

Sam Evans' recast was announced.

One recast character that oddly didn't get any announcement was Lt. Riley from the 1967 Laura story.  They changed actors after the character appeared twice and in the next episode.  The actors couldn't have been more different as the first had a New York look and accent and the second (Vince O'Brien) was more New England.

They did announce the recasting of Dr. Woodard the first time (from Richard Woods to Robert Gerringher) as well as the second (Robert Gerringher to Peter Turgeon).

Burke Devlins' recast from Mitchell Ryan to Anthony George was announced in about five episodes.

Sheriff Patterson's one episode recast from Dana Elcar to Vince O'Brien did get an announcement.  Elcar appeared only once more after that, in the next episode.  There was no announcement when Angus Cairns took over the role two weeks later.

No announcement was made when the Cemetary Caretaker was recast from Daniel Keyes to Peter Murphy.

The next recast occurs when Vince O'Brien returned as Sheriff Patterson in 1968, probably because so much time had passed since the character last appeared and he was not as relevant as he used to be.  The same thing when Alfred Sandor temporarily played him in one episode.

Victoria Winters got an announcement from Alexandra Moltke to Betsy Durkin over three episodes and from Betsey Durkin to Carolyn Groves.  That was the last announced recast.

Strangely though, no announcement was made when Edward Marshall replaced Craig Slocum as Harry Johnson, even though the character appeared quite a lot prior to that. EM was in one episode and the character disappeared.

No recasts were made after that.

Current Talk '04 II / Writers naming of Barnabas?
« on: August 27, 2004, 03:10:38 PM »
I have copies of the Dark Shadows writers episode synopsis' from the 1966-1967 year up to the episode prior to Barnabas being released from his coffin by Willie.  I got these from one of the fan clubs in the 80's and these synopsis' have the character/actors, video/air dates and the scene breakdowns.

Looking over them I see that they did not come up with a name for Barnabas, even up to the episode before his release.  I am not sure how far in advance  they were written prior to being scripted.    Barnabas is never named in any of these summaries.  He is either referred to as "young Collins" or "the young man" in the descriptions.

I never saw any of the summaries for the week after the last episode I have. I wonder when the name "Barnabas" was first thought out.  The episode Summary Book "History of Dark Shadows: 1966-1967" (a different guide written
by the DS fans) states the writers were  onsidering "Jered" or "Jeremiah" originally for Barnabas.

At least this year, we could put our names on the tag, last year no one seemed to have their names on their tags.

I wear glasses, so its hard for me to read nametags anyway.  We all should have arranged a meeting place.

I've always considered Willie a major character as well.
I certainly hope I'm not detecting some sort of prejudice against abused handymen.  lol  (just kidding)

Willie's character can be interpeted as major and minor depending on the story:

Willie as a major character: Maggies Kidnapping, Julia tries to cure Barnabas, dream curse, The Adam Story, Parallel Time 1970 (though a different Willie).

Willie as a minor character: Quentin's haunting, Leviathan,
Summer 1970.

I was actually there to get a photo and autograph from her but they couldn't change a $20.  So I said I'd come back later and, when I did, I heard her tell someone in line that she was only going to sign her books. This seemed odd to me since she was also selling 8X10 glossies.  Who knows, I may not have heard what I thought I did.

I was there when she told a guy in line that she wouldn't sign an autograph unless he bought something and he started to make an issue of it by informing us on the line that she would not sign the fest books.  She mentioned out that this was not an autograph line but a sales line.

I did buy her Halloween book, but I haven't read it yet.

I wonder that if KLS was Samantha, they would have Barnabas swooning over her for her resemblence to Josette as with Rachael and Kitty in 1897.

During the Q & A with Darren Gross on the NODS restoration, DM basically just sat there while JK, DS, & LP took part in the discussion.

I wish I was able to meet some of you, I still haven't after all this time,  though I did meet Stuart and Guy Haines in passing a couple of years ago.

Perhaps because Diana was on DS for a short period of time during both storylines, it is basically all a blur to her.
