At a Dark Shadows Festival I attended, during a Q & A, a woman at the mike stated that she named her son Barnabas, never heard of anyone naming their dog Barnabas, that is funny!

When the Dark Shadows eps with Craig Slocum are put on DVD, then I will buy them. Until then, it's MPI tapes. I've had them for 4 years and so far only had to replace one tape.

Nathan Forbes was missing his long sideburns too, but I never liked those anyway.  ;)

« on: June 12, 2002, 08:44:44 AM »
What constitutes good horror for me? Whatever is left in my video collection after all these years. When I was in my teens and early twenties, I was a confirmed horror film addict. I had every movie you could think of, and some of the grossest ever. I got rid of most of them. I now have a small collection. Some of them are Halloween I, 3, and H20, Friday The 13th Pt. 1, The Shining, The Thing (1982), Prom Night, Nightmare on Elm St. Pt. 1 and 3, Ghost Story, and a few more. I remember when Halloween came out in 1979, I saw that movie over and over at drive-ins and movie theaters, at the drive-in whenever I was paying attention to the screen, and not my date!  :-*

I enjoyed reading the articles, they were good. I used to buy Fangoria and Cinescape a lot when I was a teenager. The first issue I bought of Fangoria in 1980 had Jack Nicholson from "The Shining" on the cover. I noticed a picture of him from "The Shining" too when I clicked on the linked. What a trip!  :)

I remember the album very well, my brother had it. We played it to death in the late 60's and early 70's. I too didn't know about Grayson Hall, that's neat that there's a Dark Shadows connection to it. I remember taking the album to school in the second grade for a Halloween party, also hearing it blasting from houses on Halloween nights. I think my favorite was the cat fight. Raineypark, on the issue of CD format, it has taken me 20 years to find a lot of the albums I listened to in high school. Some of them have only come out on CD within the last year. I haven't been to Disneyland since the 80's. A late friend of mine worked at the Haunted Mansion. He was one of the guys you saw standing out front dressed as an undertaker. I have a brother who really is an undertaker and mortician. He's the one that watched Dark Shadows with me when we were kids! Did anyone else ever get stuck in the Haunted Mansion?

It happened to me 3 times. The ride broke down. It was fun though, I was with my then boyfriend at the time. It always happened in the graveyard, with all the spooks popping out, and a shadow of a big hand coming out from behind a grandfather clock. Ah memories!  :o

Are you going to the Dark Shadows Festival Jennifer? When it was here in July of 1998, it was 117 every day. That was REALLY hot! The temp in my pool is 83, I keep the jacuzzi set at 103. I am really looking forward to the soon coming fest in Anaheim, CA. It's going to be fun! I'm sure a big temp change too from Las Vegas.

Jerry Lacy is a handsome man, I like him in all of his Dark Shadows roles. He did a great job on the show. I also had the pleasure of meeting him at the House Of Dark Shadows 30th Anniversary screening in L.A, CA a couple of years ago. If you go to my Cheryl's Dark Shadows Website...

On pages 2 and 3, are some photos of Jerry Lacy. He is really nice. I hope he goes to a Dark Shadows Festival. It would be great to see him again.

Now, getting to the "HOT" question, the only man that affects me that way is Craig Slocum. Soon we will see more of him in the storyline. That's when the screen really gets HOT!!!

How do you spell relief?

There were other handsome men on Dark Shadows, but Craig tops them all! :-*

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Favorite Storyline
« on: June 07, 2002, 11:16:04 PM »
My favorite storylines are the 1795 Flashback and the Adam storyline because my fave actor (Craig Slocum) is in them. I also like the costumes, romance and suspense in 1795, and learning about how the vampire curse was put on Barnabas by the witch. In the Adam storyline, I like the scenes the most with Harry Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, Carolyn Stoddard, and Nicholas Blair. Other scenes are really good too. I liked today's eps especially. My least favorite storyline is the Leviathans, just couldn't get into that!

I feel sorry for you Jennifer, can you feel the heat yet? We're having record high temps of 107 here in Las Vegas, as soon as I bring my daughter home from school, we head out to the pool for the rest of the day. We've been going out since April, and we are already nice and tanned.

My Mom was really into Dark Shadows in the 60's, and she let me and my brothers watch it. If Barnabas was on, my Mom was glued to the screen. He's still her fave. Our next door neighbors watched it, they had a son who was my age. We went to their house and watched it sometimes. A friend of mine who lived down the street who was younger than me used to come to our house and watch it. I still remember her talking about Quentin to this day. My daughter who is almost 6, watches it with me and my Mom. She doesn't watch it as much as I did though because it comes on when she's at school. She mostly watches the tapes when I put one on. It doesn't have any bad effects on her, she knows it's not real, and that Mommy will be going to a Dark Shadows Festival to see some of the stars again, and one of these years she will too. The only thing I remember that frightened me really bad when I was a child, was this movie called, "Earth Vs. The Fying Saucers". My brother dragged me out of bed late at night, our parents were asleep, and we watched part of this movie until it started scaring me to death. I remember these men in space suits, and at one point they pulled off their helmets and they all had ugly green and black faces. I guess they were martians. They were blowing up buildings and all these terrible things were happening. One guy raised his arm out and fire shot out of his arm and blew up a building, that's when I couldn't take anymore, I went back to bed and was scared to death.

My favorite has to be the one where somebody goofed and left off everyone's name except for Craig Slocum, and the copyright date was 1966 instead of 1968. It also had an exterior shot of the Old House that was really nice. What little music they managed to get in there was good too.  :)
