Personally I vote for light jazz.  Sounds like a topic to post for discussion J99.  Dawn

Thanks for posting it here for conversational purposes J99.  I laughed so hard when I listened to it on the other list last night.  (I think Annie posted it.) Anyway,  I still can't believe I've heard this before and NOT realized it was Grayson!!!   :-[  Such flair.   :o  The woman had an incredible voice.  Too bad she didn't do characters for Disney.  She would have been a natural.   8)  Dawn

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Dark Shadows makes you insane?
« on: June 01, 2002, 11:53:57 PM »
Phew!  I'm glad I read this post!  Now I feel like I'm normal.  Obsessed?  Oh yeah.  Since the beginning.  Insane?  Naw.  Just a little compulsive and eccentric perhaps.    ::)

Personally, I have enough candles around the place to light a small city (however they are NOT blue...except those two in the dining room.)  I have a major collection of DS tapes (that's normal.)  Yes, I can recite dialogue and know the words to all the songs and remember them thirty years later.  SO?!  I too do the Julia faces...she's one of my fav characters.   I'm on a FEW DS lists and write fanfiction.  Again...SO?  You have a problem with that?

Look, some people fixate on Nascar, some on WWF, some on X-files, some on Star Trek.  It's not hurting anyone.  I look at it as a mental release or mental exercise.  But, I'm with J99...are my cronies laughing AT or WITH me?   :D

Some of my personal picks..
1. The second Dr. Woodard
2. Eric Lang
3. Roxanne
4. Hallie
5. Early David

The #2 Woodard was a bore, Lang was over the top, I just disliked the airheaded Roxanne and Hallie.  (I think I resented Hallie when I was a teen too because she was set up to portray the perfect ideal of a teen beauty in that day.)  :P   Personally, I don't think she could act her way out of a box.  The early David was a real BRAT.  Wanted to smack him upside the head the way he acted toward adults and pouted.  Yuck.  Ok, my 2 cents worth.  Dawn   :-*

She better stick to the anti SYT serum!  If Barnabas found out she betrayed him with an anti Viagra pill he'd be at her throat again.  :o Dawn

Good analogy RJ.  It's true.  Kind of like the mama bear protecting her cub.  Dawn

OK, dream surse sequencing appears to be predetermined.  Angie always knows who is getting the dream next.

Next: Angie's powers.  Not being a specialist in voodoo or black magic, I really have never given this a lot of thought.  However, I wonder if the severity or duration of an intended curse could have something to do with the methods she employs.  Sometimes a potion, sometimes a voodoo doll, sometimes the power of suggestion...rendering mute must be pretty easy because it appears to always be a simple incantation.  Wish I knew that secret for some people I work with...... :o

Lastly: an observation.  I really don't think Ang is that great of a sorceress.  IMHO.  She seems reckless to me.  I think her longest curse was poor old Barnabas and she even tried to reverse that with no luck. :-/

Julia's dream...ah yes.  Loved the slow motion bit!  Dear Grayson could really affect a scream too.  The part I particularly like is afterward when she is talking to Barnabas and is trying to avoid Mrs. J.   :-X   She's a wreck!  Great GH moment with the nervousness and fidgits.  Then after telling the dream she's so calm and placid.

There have been a miriad of wonderful comments concerning the show in this discussion and I have to agree that many of us 'old timers' who watched the show in the beginning were caught up in the stories and the drama of such an original piece of work.  Our affections originated then and have persisted to today.  We were more tolerant of the flubs and flaws because it was an occurance that was well known from live tv.  As for bad acting...well...some such as our dear Dr. Lang were classic 1950's style horror impersonations.   :o I often wonder if Dan Curtis didn't actually request that kind of persona.  No matter what, we are all devoted to keeping DS alive.  If you are a nerd, welcome to the club.  ;D  Dawn

My reoccuring dream (not frequent) always revolves around tornados in some fashion.  I won't call it a nightmare, I've lived through two of them and THAT'S the nightmare.  The dreams always take a different format, but the outcome is always a positive one.  Thank heavens.  Still, I could live without the dreams or the reality.  Dawn
