Barnabas seemed particularly monstrous when he started strangling Maude.  [santa_shocked]

Trask is getting awfully suspicious, demanding to know who Ben was talking to, and then saying he hopes he wasn't communicating with the witch.

Trask deserves to get a taste of his own medicine, and I applaud Barnabas for taking the opportunity to give it to him!  [santa_cool]

Vicki told Peter she used to have a lot of nightmares when she was a child, which I suppose might be natural, given the fact she lived in an orphanage without the security of family or parents. Poor thing!

I think Peter did a great job when he was cross-examining Nathan, but I think he would have been more convincing if he would have brought up the possibility that Nathan, feeling rejected by Vicki the first day they met, decided to get his revenge on her by testifying against her.

All I can say about trask, is that I'm very disappointed in him.

Peter and Vicki seem to think when Angelique appeared in the courtroom, that she looked like a living breathing person. Obviously, she was a ghost, which makes me wonder, aren't the ghosts on DS usually transparent?  [santa_undecided]

I always enjoy the scenes and sounds at the dock.

Why is Nathan so interested in Barnabas's whereabouts? Why would he go to the trouble of investigating ships that sailed around the time Barnabas was supposed to have gone to England? I guess he always likes to have information to blackmail some unsuspecting person with.

Why did Barnabas say that his father would be grateful to Ben for testifying at Vicki's trial? Obviously, Joshua wouldn't have been grateful, since he believes Vicki to be the witch. I suppose Barnabas is simply trying to convince Ben to testify.

Poor Ben, made to look like he's crazy. Terrible!  [santa_shocked]

Naomi says it isn't like Joshua to stay home so long from the yards, and he says something to the effect that, anything I do is like me. Excellent line!

Later in the episode, Joshua comes home and announces he doesn't want to be interrupted, and Naomi says she'll see to it he isn't. Then uncertainly she says that she isn't sure if she is considered to be an interruption. That made me so sad for her. He could really make her miserable.  [santa_sad]

Nathan Forbes, what a traitor!  [hall2_angry]

Trask is able to deceive the court without any discomfort from his conscience. Where he started this entire witch hunt believing that what he was doing was right, now he'll stop at nothing to make certain vicki is condemned of witchcraft and punished for it.

Nathan's dishonesty is not only effecting Vicki, but he's also making Barnabas out to be manipulative where his and Barnabas's friendship was concerned.

I enjoyed the talk between Daniel and Naomi. Naomi is trying so hard to be optimistic about the future, I don't blame her for wanting Daniel to stay at Collinwood.

For some reason I can't pinpoint, I liked the discussion Daniel and Trask had, at least up until Trask started ranting about a devil's mark upon Naomi's arrival.

All I can say first off, is that I absolutely love Ben in this episode!  [hall2_cool]

I loved seeing Abigail so perplexed by Daniel's list! And the way he backtalked Abigail was excellent!  [hall2_grin]

I couldn't picture Kate Jackson as Victoria.

I felt sorry for Barnabas, he so desperately wants Josette to come back, but this is the wrong way for that to happen. As he continued to command Josette to return to him I kept thinking, what part of no does he not understand? She didn't want to come back and he shouldn't have forced her to. He knows what it's like to come back to life, he shouldn't have placed her in that horrible position either.

I really enjoyed JF's and Thayer David's scene together. Barnabas, devastated and in shock over Josette's death seems to be lashing out at the nearest person, and that person just happens to be Ben. Since he can't blame Angelique, he's going to place blame on the person who is laying her to rest. At least he came to his senses and stopped throttling Ben, although it seems as though much of his humanity is slipping away.

So is Trask now a building inspector? The way he's scrutinizing Peter's lifestyle and his living quarters and lack of amenities, that's what it felt like to me. I love it how Trask has to constantly remind people of his title of reverend, when they purposefully neglect to use it.  [hall2_grin]

Nathan reminds me a great deal of Quentin. Good for Joshua for denying Nathan access to the shipyards. Serves him right for how terribly he treated Millicent!

How much can a servant's testimony count for during this period in time? Surely it wouldn't hold as much weight as someone more respected, so why is Peter trying so hard to persuade him to testify? I suppose it's because they don't have many people willing to dispute  Trask, so they need all the help they can get.

Because of the continuing attacks in the village, Barnabas is unintentionally effecting Vicki's trial and innocence.

Boy, Abigail is sure enjoying herself during the trial. It's like her fifteen minutes of fame.

Ben was quite at a loss as how to deal with the half-mad Millicent, and I don't blame him.

Joshua sounded quite panicked when he insisted to Millicent that Barnabas was in England.

Why couldn't Joshua defend Millicent's honor? Why did it have to be Barnabas?

The storm, Barnabas's voice, and the melody from Josette's music box, all combine to make a very erie atmosphere.

After Josette has fallen over Widow's Hill, Barnabas crying Josette's name and Angelique's delighted laughter create a very tragic scene.

A very sad episode.
