Actually, the black bows in Millicents hair would be in style now.  Has anyone notices "young women" tend to put small bows, butterflies, and other such things in their hair.  Maybe because I have a daughter who is 13 and have had several of these things left all over the house I thought wow Millicent is way ahead of the times.lol.  A real fashion setter.

I enjoyed both your Luciaphil's comments and Nancy's. Great points.

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Things not in 1795 i would miss most!

I am with everyone who would miss in door pumbing. I don't camp don't ask me.  This from a former Girl Scout leader.
I would miss my jeans, T-shirts,
My stero { I need music}
My computer,
Like Jennifer said give me drugs when giving birth
What about birth control--that would be major.  I have four children already, if something had not been done I would most likely have had more and be dead.
Advil--man how did they deal with headaches.
my sneakers
cold drinks--remember no refrigeration
telephone--I would miss gabbing with friends

The list goes on and on.
Let's see one more thing the grocery store, which I have to visit now.

10.  David Selby--be still my heart
 9.  Don Brisco--sexy way about him
 8.  Joel Crothers-- a very nice looking man
 7.  John Karlen---something appealing about him
 6.  Jon Frid--something hypnotic about him. LOL

Current Talk '02 I / Make up madness....
« on: April 04, 2002, 06:29:07 AM »
Wow, did they pile the make up on Barnabas for todays first episode.  He looked like a racoon.  I started humming Rocky Racoon while watching.  His face was so white it looked like they had used plaster of paris on him.  Why did he still have the kane in his had while trying to grab Josette.  Most people would hav dropped it.  I guess I am tired and picky tonight,

Birdie--time to take this picky pain to bed.

The secret staircase in the House of the Seven Gables is next to the fireplace.  I don't remember how it opened, it has been a few years.  We might do it again this spring or early fall.  My daughter goes to Salem State and we venture up there very often.   I can relate I always wanted a secret passage way or  secret room.  The nearest thing we had was the eves.  I use to go and play in them, we gained access to them throuh my closet in the house I grow up in.  There was a storage area under the backstairs that was fun to hide it also.  My parents sold that house a year after I got married.  I wonder if the new owners children had as much fun as I did in those special places.

Too bad Vicki didn't carry her purse with her.  Just think she could have brought asprin, might have helped Sarah or at least Naomi's handover.  Just think what fun she could have had explaining what she would have kept in her purse.

Has anyone ever read the book "A Knight in Shinning Armor"?   It is a romance novel.  Very funny about a woman who goes back in time.  A nice light read.  I do like the time travel thing.

I never dreamed that I would be hooked again on DS in my 40's.  If someone ten years ago told me I would have gone to a fest I would have thought they were on crack. Than again two years ago was the first time I had seen DS since the late 60's early 70's.  It has been so much fun.  Just never saw this side of my personality before.lol

Darren,
I know I have told this story before so please accept my apologies to those who have read it.  To be truthful I don't remember promo's for the movie.  My two best friends and I were big DS fans and would race home everyday to watch.  Somehow we knew about House of Dark Shadows the movie coming out.  Maybe in 16 magazine.  That was a must for us to buy.  Our parents were not upset in the least about our going.  I remember sitting in the theater and it being packed.  We never expected it to be a scary as it was.  In fact my clearest memory was my best friend getting so scaried she screamed and reach over and bit my hand.  We still laugh about this along with our many adventures we have shared through the years.  Being friends for over 35 years we have a ton.  We know things about each other that we would never tell our husbands.  Sorry I digress.  I think the version we saw had the David hanging scene, but to be truthful I am not sure, I might have just read it in the book that came out afterward.

Tonight Butch Cassidy is on and I do remember getting grounded for going to see that alone at the movies one Sat. afternoon.  The punishment was no Dark Shadows fora week or more.

My parents were never phased by Dark Shadows.  They understood it was just a show and it would not influence me to turn to devil worship.  Actually, it was my mom who made those desisions.  She had and has a very level head.  She let us hold crazy seances at the dinning room table.  Most likely she was laughing her head off in the other room while she braided a rug.

Sorry rambling.

Wish I had the calendar.  My daughter had the one from 200l, but we didn't get one for this year.  Somehow it didn't fit in the country kitchen, early poverty, mix in my kitchen, plus I need big boxes to write all the daily cr** that I need to keep track of.  What a gorgeous thing to have to great you as a sign of spring.

Hope you are feeling well.
