Gerard, what you said is true, but remember that 1897 incident with a family memeber that was totally unnecessary and backtracked the character.

What I didnt like was the changing of the origin of the Leviathan's
Oberson was the original leader and the Leviathan's were from an otherwroldy dimension.  Then because of fan reaction, they decide to "retcon" the roigin so that Nicholas Blair was always the leader and the Leviathan's were in league with the devil.
I read in The Introduction of Barnabas episode guide that the first episode Dr. Hoffman was to appear, the outline describes Dr. Hoffman as a man in his 60's.
They may have used the attempt to cure Barnabas story but then Julian Hoffman would probably have been killed by Barnabas when it backfired & then Burke & Dr. Woodard would have staked Barnabas.

I was surprised they used filmed images of real bats for Mrs. Johnson's dream instead of the bat on a string.

They probably had to mention the Sebastion/Jeb resemblence as Jeb was carolyn's husband and she was still in mourning.

On One Life to Live Roy Thinnes (from the 1991 DS) played Alex Crown and then Sloan Carpenter.  Both characters were in love with Victoria Buchanan!

On GH, Kevin Bernhardt temporarily played Frisco Jones in December 1984 and returned a few months later as Kevin O'Connor.  John Ingle was the NY state police commissioner in  the late 80's and is now Edward Quartermaine.

By the way, everyone thought Sebastion Shaw looked like Jeb.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: History of Collinwood
« on: December 07, 2006, 12:32:37 AM »
Yes,
there were only three Collinses living at Collinwood after 1795.
Perhaps Joshua hired a new governess for Daniel and a nurse to care for Millicent.  There were the other servants like Riggs, maids, and the cook still in the house.
Ben was probably also there from time to time when he wasn't at his own house/land.

Joshua & Millicent still may have been alive when Daniel married Harriet.  The supernatural seems to be dormant for a few decades before acting up at Collinwood again.  Perhaps there was a pleasant athmosphere when Quentin & Gabriel were children.

What I meant to say in my post was that there wasnt any need to explain Angelique looking like Cassandra to Professor Stokes.  They should have just let him believe that Angelique resembled Cassandra.

The only other characters who got noticed as a lookalike was the Trasks of 1897 & 1840.

Amy had a "Black Beauty" book in one episode.   When Willie is sick in the early Barnabas episodes, Roger thinks he is pretending and says something like "Sarah Bernhard" would be envious of your act".

Phillip Todd mentions the Moon landing in another episode.  Carl talks about his trip to Atlantic City and salt water taffy he bought there in 1897.

What I found odd...
When Professor Stokes arrived in 1840, Julia and Barnabas felt it necessary to explain the presence of Angelique, whom Stokes knew as Cassandra.  They told him that Cassandra was still obsessed over Barnabas and followed him down the staircase!   I am sure that they could have said nothing and pretend she was a lookalike of a present day character like the others were.
in the 1840 Concordance, the late Authur Warren Oddson had some great ideas regarding the 1840 inconsistencies.

In KLS Memories Book, she states the second actor (don't remember his name) to play HJ was on DS for "quite some time".   He only appeared in one episode.

I wonder if viewers at the time thought Diana Walker would be a permanent replacement as Carolyn Stoddard.

This substitution was similar to Vince O'Brien playing Sheriff Patterson for an episode and Dana Elcar re-appearing the next day.  Though O'Brien filmed that episode after Dana Elcar filmed the next one.  Too bad Elcar didn't stay, he was the best sheriff.  Though post 1795, the character hardly ever appeared.

I did like the second Harry Johnson better then the first.  I couldn't take Craig Slocum's acting, it was terrible.

DS isn't the only show to recast a character so soon before hie is killed off.

I remember in 1989, Geoffrey Scott played the role of David McAllistar on General Hospital for several months.  About two weeks before the character is murdered, Patrick Strong takes over the role.
