interesting about seaview.

it and the subsequent plan for vicki and burke to move into the west wing were given alot of buildup for plot developments that never actually went anywhere.

and burke's plane crash in brazil seems like a rather abrupt and random way to kill-off a major character.

they obviously decided to go for bigger fish with 1795.

I don't think at that time they planned on getting rid of Burke altogether.  It seems they removed him from the story so they could concentrate on Barnabas without Burke's interference.  They probably were going to bring him back after 1795 but Anthony George decided to leave the show.

On the DS Usenet group someone once said that she interviewed Peter Turgeon about his appearances on DS and it seems he wasn't told he was replacing another actor until the day of filming and that he was upset when he learned about it.

That will be answered in a few weeks.

Or was it even Barnabas didn't he  have the skill to turn himself into a bat?  That is what I thought when i saw it.

In 1840, could Judah Zachary have placed a spell on the court making them believe a witchcraft trial was legal to ensure Quentin would be hanged?

The reason for this was that the ghost was to have been Paul Stoddard's ghost,

out to avenge his death caused by Jeb.  Dennis Patrick was doing the movie "Joe" at this time and was unavailable.  So the writers came up with the idea to use Peter Bradford's ghost instead and Jeb killing Vicky in 1796.

Current Talk '07 I / Sarah's powers / was Re: Discuss - Ep #0314

Actually going by what happened in 1967, Sarah's spirit should have materialized once Barnabas is released from his coffin in 1897.  They didnt want to go that route again as there was already a ghost story going on in the present time.

They did use a film of real bats for Mrs. Johnson's dream, they could have found film footage of a wolf for Willies.

Barbara Steele was briefly at the 1995 NY convention.

Roy Thinnes also played Alex Crown on One Life to Life, who also was interested in Vicky.

Current Talk '07 I / Crossovers with other ABC soaps
« on: May 24, 2007, 01:11:06 AM »
Too bad ABC in 1968 didnt think to use DS to introduce new soap One Life to Live by having OLTL characters appear in cameos on DS.  Victor Lord could have been an old friend/boyfriend of Liz's who made a call to her to update her on his life.

The same for when All My Children appeared in 1970, Phoebe Tyler could have been a college roommate/friend of Liz's  who also makes a call to Liz.

Or Liz could have visited either one.  I doubt they would use Barnabas or other supernatural characters to cross over so as the audience would not think they also were supernatural soap operas.

Current Talk '07 I / Kittys fate

They never really went into detail as to what happened with her & I am still confused on some points.

Did she really go to 1796 with Barnabas or did Barnabas just believe that Kitty was inhabiting Jostte's body?   It seems the Leviathan's may have led Barnabas to think she was really in 1796 with him.   They could have had him imagine she was entering Josette's portrait at the end of 1897.  Another thing is that if Josette dies again by suicide (poison), where does Kitty go?  Are they both killed at the same time?  I tend to think Kitty never really left 1897 and after her confusion passed, she went back to Edward and ended up marrying him.

Current Talk '07 I / Re: Who did the best voiceovers?
« on: May 01, 2007, 12:30:24 AM »
Did David Henesy or Denise Nickerson ever do voiceovers?

I remember the first time I heard the voiceover done by a man- Thayer David in the next to last 1795 episode.  It was strange at the time to hear a male voice as I was so adjusted to hearing a female do the opening.

This past that interests Vicky is around 1830 at this time.

Barnabas here is a 19th century man playing off Burke, a 20th century man.  Not sure if anything happened around that time period, Cival War is thirty years away and the War of 1812 twenty years in the past.  A very peaceful time in the US I gather.  I could see Vicky being interested in it.

Was Jeremiah's grave shown in this episode?  What dates were on it?

This Ross novel is unique in that it is the only one written in the third person (all knowing) where all his other DS novels were written in the first person from the view of the herione.  The House of Dark Shadows novelization is also in the third person, but that is different as it is based on the movie.
