For me it would be the 1968 set of General Hospital.

Yes, the sixties were great for a lot of things. I just wanted to throw in Simon and Garfunkel as one of the things I loved at the time, not to mention Herb Albert, Al Hirt, Doris Day and Barbra Streisand. There was a feel and a fashion about the time that the 80's and 90's just didn't seem to have.

Actually, VAM, it's suspension of DISbelief....and much has been required of us already....and we're only 2 days into 1968!!!

Now, I'm old enough to remember 1968, and while I didn't spend much time in hospitals, I'd bet this month's mortgage payment that they never had sheets in those colors in any hospital around here!!!

Obviously the same demented set decorator that picked acid green and day-glo orange candles for the 18th century has been wandering around the Domestic Linens department in the same Kresge's from whence came Barnabas' PJ's.  The only thing that hasn't shown up yet (I'm almost afraid......) is the gawd-awful afghan!!

On the other hand, that little white dresser in Vicky's hospital room is currently for sale on page 53 of the latest Pottery Barn catalog....$849!!......I swear on a stack of scripts!!!

Rainey

In fact I just saw that dresser in the latest Pottery Barn catalogue and gagged when I saw the price. I have to admit though, that it now makes sense why Barnabas could have been awake at 4 in the afternoon. I guess the blood-curdling scream after seeing the sun was just a knee-jerk reaction.

::) I thought Barnabas wasn't capable of consciousness during the day, and yet he wakes up in the hospital at 4 in the afternoon? Does this seem incongruous to anyone else?

It would be Naomi Collins for me!! That woman deserves a medal for all the crap she had to go through. Here she was, a very loving & caring woman, who had to deal with a fanatic & cruel sister in law like Abigail,[vryevl] and a husband who was insensitive to her emotional needs. You could see how very nuturing she was to her children and also anyone else who needed her help. She treated Vicky as one of her own while everyone else was against her. And hey, she was even kind to Angelique!! :o It's too bad that those around her didn't give her the credit she deserved. She could have probably run that household very nicely had she been given the chance.

I second the motion!

Current Talk '02 I / Where was Abigail?

As I re-watch these episodes, I wonder about certain things that didn't occur to me at the time. Where was Abigail when Barnabas was having his choking fit? It would have been a good time for her to ferret out witches. The fact that Vicki was present and Angelique wasn't should have been enough to shift suspicion away from her. But I guess Vicki Winters was just destined to be accused of witchcraft. It really is tragic that Abigail's paranoia couldn't have worked to save Vicki.

You, Gerard of all people should know there were no bicycles in 1795! Abigail would not have been amused to be compared to the Wicked Witch of the West!

Abigail must be pretty clueless not to "percieve" the evil in Angelique! The one person upon whom she could practice her witch-hunting justifiably! What a shame it had to be poor Vicki. Why didn't Abigail zero in on Angelique when Vicki wasn't around to persecute?

What a disappointment that Angelique's grand entrance had to be on B&W Kinescope! Not to mention the Countess Dupree! I remember that episode in color and it was like a Hollywood Technicolor entrance! Maybe tomorrow we'll see them all in color again!

Current Talk '02 I / Sarah's Appearance to Barnabas.

This morning's episode where Sarah confronts Barnabas was a classic! I've been waiting months for that poignant reunion of Sarah and Barnabas that left Barnabas totally humbled and bereft. To me, that was one of the great moments in television! What show has ever thought to have the ghost of a 9-year-old chastise a 200 year old vampire? You felt Barnabas' longing to be with his sister again, and his intense sorrow at knowing she would never appear to him again. I think the first time I saw it made such an impression on me that I didn't even notice that Sarah didn't do the best job delivering those lines! It just goes to show...

Reminds me of something she said to a fan who spotted her at the time of her DS stint when asked, "Aren't you Joan Bennett?" She simply replied, "I used to be."
