Current Talk '02 II / Re: Poor Adam ~
« on: July 30, 2002, 01:56:49 PM »
He is played believably as a child who is growing up without the benefit of loving parents (Barn. and Julia really screwed up).  No wonder he is so easily manipulated...it would have been interesting to see what happened to the character when he "grew up".

Too bad, another missed opportunity.

David seems to be the bravest of the entire family.  However, most of the time - nobody believes the kid.  He sees everything & everyone for who/what they are.

David is not only the bravest, he is also the smartest!!

If Liz wasn't under that curse - she'd be stronger & Roger was probably devastated over Cassandra.  Barnabas?  I'm not sure.   ?!?

Oh, I'm sure, lol.  He was a much stronger character when he had an "edge".  I'm afraid that they sacrificed character continuity and development in favor of the supernatural plot lines   :(

He seems quite at ease with many modern amenities...but I want to know who taught him to drive.

I think there might be a spoiler somewhere...

I watched the original run between the ages of 9 and 12, and remember picking up on Julia's unrequited feelings, even though I didn't really understand it fully.  I just wanted Barn. to be nicer to Julia and get rid of all the other girls he was chasing, lol.
Watching it now as an adult has been a real treat, as I've been able to pick up on the nuances of the performances, and gain an appreciation for the talents of many cast members I'd overlooked as a kid.
I don't remember being scared by the show in general, except on a couple occasions...seeing the "popeye" Josette and Quentin's ghost when he was menacing David.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: The Reason There Have Been Access Problems
« on: July 26, 2002, 08:20:57 PM »
Well I'm glad to see it wasn't due to the AOL incompatability issue, which was my first thought.

I suppose I will just have to post more often to get access to those archives...  ;D

Hey, I know you all know by now about Dan Curtis looking into a new DS movie, (Yay if they do it right!) but I wanted to throw out an interview I found with the very handsome Mr. Depp from 1999, when Sleepy Hollow first came out. In it he mentions his undying fandom for Barnabas Collins as a kid.

(And Lon Chaney! Sweet!!)

Depp would certainly be a good choice to play Barnabas, much better than Ben Cross IMO.  Let's hope, as you say, that if it happens they do it right!

Alright. . .on the two occassions Julia is attacked by a vampire. . once that vampire is destroyed she miraculously returns to health. . .now, if the poor girl's been drained of her blood. . shouldn't she still be a bit under the weather?  Doesn't she need time to make some "new" replacement blood?  Who else gets drained of blood and then jumps up and is ready to kick *ss once the vampire is destroyed?

I think she had blood delivered to her from Wyndcliffe, compliments of any unsuspecting electric shock patients
who had the right type.

?!?Angelique's reflection appeared in a mirror today. This must have been a huge goof---unless the rules have changed!! Did anyone else see this??? :o :o

Didn't watch today, but remember the scene.  I don't think the "rules" changed either, lol.   Just another inadvertent blooper that makes DS so endearing.   ;D

It really is great fun watching who will get the upper hand...the Nicholas Blair character adds so much to the show during this time.  Ok, I'll admit he is a bit over the top, but in a refreshing sort of way.  ;)
As for Maggie...she just seems to keep getting dumber and dumber, lol.  She should have up and left with Joe when he offered, and alas, now it is too late.
Maybe they are priming Maggie to be as clueless as Vicky,

Yes, I've seen the article also...quite a grand house indeed.  I have an audio taped interview of GH in which she mentions the house being featured in the article.
Love what they named the place...wonder if it was coincidental   ;)

Current Talk '02 II / Re: A Hard One - Best Actor(ess) on DS????
« on: July 22, 2002, 02:50:37 PM »
For me, the best actor on the series was Thayer David,
hands down.  Of course he did get to play a wide variety of characters, which allowed him to showcase his range as an actor.  Other cast members weren't so fortunate, lol.
Nancy Barrett would be my second choice.

And why not? Julia hasn't gotten any action in years. She's pining away after that creep Barnabas who won't give her the time of day, and finally some young, hunky vamp pays a little attention to her . . . why should she resist? Clearly she's enjoying her new boyfriend!

Ha!  I agree, lol.  And really, Jennings treats her better than Barnabas ever did.  Even now, when B. should be concerned with her welfare, he's still pushing her to work on "the experiment" for Vicki's sake, of course.
You notice how willing (and anxious) she was for Tom to bite her today?  Got rid of that old scarf in no time, exposed her neck, and fell right into his embrace...woo hoo!

What the hell is Davis doing?....drooling on her like a toothless old man?  And what's wrong with Moltke? If he's slobbering on her, why didn't she slap his face the first time and threaten to kick his ass if he did it again?  Why does it keep happening?  ?!?

Rainey

Marie Wallace recounted an incident where she and Davis were having some heated exchange...and Davis was suppose to kind of push past her and exit.  All went well during the rehearsals, but when the scene was taped he got a little carried away and almost knocked her off her feet!
Perhaps he got a little carried away with his kissing scenes as well...poor Alexandra...

Megan Todd.  Marie Wallace was the most willing and sensual victim I can remember during the run of the show.  The scenes between her and Frid were hot  ;)
