Other ABC soaps like All My Children & One Life to Live have no tapes from their early years as they were disposed of.  At some point, they were thrown out to make for space. General Hospital, I believe, has all their episodes as it was filmed in LA as opposed to New York like AMC & OLTL were.

I heard some other soaps (as well as news programs) would tape over existing episodes to save money.

Current Talk '08 II / Vampire Angelique's Reflection

How is it that Angelique can see herself in the mirror when other vampires couldn't?  Is it because the mirror is Nicholas' that he made it so?

I wondered why they had TD as Mordecai when at the same time Prof. Stokes already arrived in the past.

When Stokes first appeared in 1840, I also thought he would be Quentin & Desmond's lawyer.  Thayer David didn't have much to do in 1840 compared to 1796 & 1897.  He played THREE roles and must have appeared in less then 20 episodes the whole storyline.

There wasn't really any point to his Mordecai Grimes character either.

Magda encouraged Rachael due to Barnabas interfering, so that means event A did not happen originally.

I think it was Magda who gave Rachel the encouragement.  And I also think Rachel was quite capable of committing that piece of foolishness without being encouraged by anyone.

Didn't Barnabas inadvertently caused event A in that he caused Rachael to get curious about the tower room where Jenny was and that led to her escaping?

Current Talk '08 I / Using footage of Joan Bennetts films on DS
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:45:25 PM »
I am not sure if I posted this here or on another board, so if this is a repeat I apologize.

I got the idea from an episode of Falcon Crest where they used a scene of a film Jane Wyman made in the 40's (The Blue Veil) to explain how her characters husband arranged for the doctor to have the baby secretly adopted in Europe while she thought the baby died soon after she delivered.

I was thinking something like this could have been used as a flashback to Vicki's birth involving Liz, Paul, & her parents (not using the sound of the movie but a voiceover explaining the events).  Is there any film JB starred in that could correspond to some scenario involving Vicky's birth and the placing of her at the foudling home?

I have read other interviews where he complains about Malcolm Mamorstein.  He states he couldn't cue Grayson on MM's scripts and that he thought it was terrible to have Barnabas attacking cows.

Back in 1981, on General Hospital, Helena Cassidine (played by Elizabeth Taylor) aooeared in about three episodes and her presence was felt for a few years as she put a curse on Luke & Laura causing them a lot of heartache for a long time.

In the book Wizard of Oz, the Wizard is gone about a little more then half the way through and is never mentioned again.  Though his part is similar to the movie version.  The movie omitted the last 1/3 of the original story.

I always thought that Burke should have returned, now played by Timothy Gordon.

I would love to see how he would deal with Adam, Eve, Nicholas, Cassandra, & Jeff.  Would he go about having James Blair (no relation to Nicholas) investigate all of them?

DS needed a character rooted more in reality to offset all the supernatural occurences.

Its odd that everyone was suspicious of Laura from near the beginning, but soon as Barnabas arrived, they all seemed to lose their senses!

In the episode where Roger is seen driving his car out of Collinwood (when David tries to kill him), I believe he takes it from the back or side and then circles through the front and then out of the estate.  You can also see David watching from his room window.

The DS exterior/interior matchup has nothing on Happy Days, which I believe was the worst setup I ever saw.  The exterior is a colonial style house that is sqaure shaped with large columns by the front door.  The first 2 seasons got it right with the inside, but when they switched to a live audience, they made the back door by the garage right alongside the front door with a lviing room that had a multi-directional wall that would have made a very odd looking exterior!  They even showed on column at the front door despite the fact the kitchen was where the oppiosite column should be.

It probably was Sam Hall & Gordon Russell in early fall 1967 when they were outlining the 1795 storyline.  They needed a reason for Barnabas being a vampire, so they came up with a witch character to curse him.

well, she wasn't mean to Sheriff Patterson lol (looking back, he has to be the luckiest character in DS)
