Current Talk '02 I / Time and Space
« on: March 19, 2002, 10:27:19 AM »
Every day we get the narration about suspending "time and space."  Vicki, herself, used the phrase.  While not coming out and "telling all" as she did with Barnabas, she did use that time and space phrase with Nathan one day.

It's a very effective sounding phrase, but it's another one of those things that drives me crazy!  Space had nothing to do with it.  She's still in the same space - she's at Collinwood, just in a different time (although the initial occurrence did move her from the drawing room of Collinwood to outside the Old House!).

I love the way this episode provides an example of a good deed being rewarded.  It's always so nice after watching the "bad" Barnabas of 1966-7 to come back to 1795 and see how good he was.  And, in this case he was teaching Ben to read and write and that paid off here.  I've always loved this scene between them.

It's nice that you've notified their support, so that presumably it will be fixed.  However, I don't know that it needed to be disabled.  It apparently worked most of the time, and even when it didn't, it caught most of the items.

Hi MB!

It's happened again.  When I was here a while ago, the last post was from Ben - Barn and Ben:  a 1795 Highlight at 11:19 p.m. the 17th.

I came back a few minutes ago and checked the last 10 and the only post listed after that was from Midnite on Luciaphil's board at 12:07a.m. the 18th.

However, I checked the Current Discussion board and found some new items.  There was Bobubas at 12:04 a.m and Minja at 12:19 a.m. in the O.T. Message for Unregistered Membes and again Bobubas and Minja at 11:59 p.m. and 12:08 a.m. in the St. Patrick's Day thread.

Before starting to write this, I checked the top 10 again and found that the 2 Minja items had appeared, but the 2 Bobubas ones were still missing.

I believe Barnabas recognized Phyllis Wick when she appeared at the seance, which would certainly indicate that she was the one he knew originally.

And, I believe something will be learned when this is over that will indicate that Phyllis was charged as a witch instead of Vicki.

However, since she wouldn't have had all the strange things about her that made Vicki suspicious to some of them, I can't imagine why they latched on to her.  Perhaps just because she was new, or maybe Angelque did some things on the order of what she's doing to Vicki now, that made her seem a likely candidate.

As to the first wedding gown, I kept wondering where she got it.  It certainly seemed quite fancy for a maid.  I could see if, given the circumstances, Josette had been nice and given it to her, but there was no suggestion of anything like that.

Of course, Vicki running out like that has always infuriated me!  As you suggested, surely there must have been a back door.  But, even if there wasn't - it's a big house.  She knows Trask is down there in the front waiting for her.  Wouldn't she at least run to another part of the house looking for Barnabas or anything except the front door unless everything else was blazing!!!!

How about that?!!  Thanks, Midnite!!

I had never really noticed that part and had to try it before I even understood what you were describing!  And, I had  no idea that was a question mark!  I always thought it was just a little blue circle and wondered what it stood for.  After you mentioned it, I looked closely and managed to make out the question mark in it!!!

Sounds like a great idea! ;D  I've always enjoyed "Idle Thoughts" and a regular feature of it would be quite nice!!

There are 2 columns of icons next to each post.  The first shows the folder, with the key showing if there are a lot of posts in that thread.  But, then there's the second column.  Most just show a plain blue folder or piece of paper, or whatever it's supposed to be.  But, occasionally there's something else.  Sometimes there's the S for the spoiler warning.

Number one - other than Spoiler - what do any of the other items mean.  Number two - if one wants to do that, mark a spoiler for instance, how is it done? ?!?

Current Talk '02 I / Angelique

First, it always seems so sad when Naomi is helping her prepare for the wedding.  On the surface it appears as though it's just a case of Joshua disapproving because of her station in life.  She looks so beautiful as a bride.  There's Naomi being sweet and nice and helping her.  She immediately finds her a white dress, even gives her her own mother's jewelry and does everything she can to make it nice for both of them.  It seems like such a genuine and sweet story.  Except, one knows what really went on to put Angelique in this position and what she's really like.  It could all have been so nice, but . . . .

Meanwhile, I had to laugh when Ben rescues her from the grave and she vows to not do anything bad anymore!  And, immediately afterwards, there was Jeremiah's ghost laughing!

And, she proves it right away.  If only she had waited a while and "tried out" the marriage.  Barnabas, having married her, I'm sure would have tried to be a good husband.  She really loves him, or so she says.  I think it had a chance of working out.  But, right away she has to start getting jealous.  She actually has him.  I could see if she had really seen something to cause suspicion of him with Vicki, but as it is, I would think the excuse of "saving" her from Trask coming from both of them should have seemed true.  Given all she went through to get him, why couldn't she just wait and see instead of starting up to her old tricks immediately.

Thank you, MB!  My main concern is that after presumably reading everything, I check the last 10 just in case I skipped something or something was posted while I was reading other things.  I just figured if I know that 2 items were missing one time, perhaps others could be missing.  It certainly seems very weird!  I'm glad all of your checking shows it working right!!

As to Barnabas not confiding in his future wife about hiding Vicki, I think that was what he was about to do.  He came into her room and said he had something important to tell her, but then he noticed how strange she was acting and the conversation switched to her problems and not being married in that house.

Midnite, if there had been a bunch of other posts at that time and mine just weren't in the "top 10" anymore, I could understand that.  But 2 of my 4 posts and the 1 response to mine made up the 1st 3, and then 7 posts from earlier filled out the 10.  There should have been 4 from me plus that other one and then only 5 of the earlier ones left.

The posts did show in their proper thread, so they were obviously there.  But, somehow they didn't register for the 10 most recent.

Again, I'm not making an issue of my posts, but it's with my posts that I notice if something is wrong!

I made 2 replies in one thread (and someone else then replied after that).  I then started 2 new topics.  When I was finished with everything, I checked out the last 10 posts, to make sure that I had seen everything.  My 2 new topics and the other person's reply that followed mine were there, but my other two replies, which had occurred just before that, weren't there and the previous 7 (presumably) items filled up the top 10.
