Hey, I just thought of something. Are the audio dramas going to be official? What I mean is, if something happens to a character in one of the stories, say for instance Quentin, does that mean that's now part of the DS story line?

Well, I want Barnabas to live forever, so I hope they keep him around!

Even if they get some other actor to act in the role of Barnabas, it will never be the same. I'm not saying the actor who might play him wouldn't be good, but nothing or no one can fill the shoes of Jonathan frid. IMHO, it just wouldn't be the same Barnabas without Jonathan frid!

I'm abit reluctant to read the audios if he isn't in them, but I know curiosity will eventually motivate me to read them.

Can someone who has already read them comment on them without spoilers?  ;D

I'm not trying to be rude, but was it really necessary for Lara Parker to mention JF missing his lines? It's not like she never forgot a line.

Ah well, perhaps she meant it in fun, but still...

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Midnite, for telling us about Jonathan's call!  :) I didn't think anyone was going to ever mention it.  you're the best!!

I think that is soooooo cool he called, he's so awesome!!!!!  8) :)

"Here I am," he said, "I am going to live forever" and the audience applauded wildly.

Oh wow! That just gives me chills hearing about it. How cool! He's so wonderful! He will live forever!!!  :)

Current Talk '06 I / Re: Parallel Time
« on: August 30, 2006, 03:36:07 PM »
At first I was very interested in the mysterious room of parallel time, and how people could watch their counterparts live different lives, but once Barnabas arrived in that actual time, it became quite boring.

Upon Alexis's arrival, I thought "Oh boy, it's Angelique up to one of her tricks again, pretending to have a twin sister for some possible vicious scheme."
But once Angelique came back and killed Alexis I felt bad for poor Alexis and that I had spent so much time thinking she was Angelique. How terrible was it of Angelique to kill her own sister!  :o
It became rather tiring to see that angry Quentin, and no other variation in his character. It was so different from the Quentin we are all used to. And Maggie, being treated so terribly by Quentin and Angelique, it's no wonder she left for a while.

I didn't really care for Willie and Carolyn as a couple, not really sure why, they just didn't seem to fit.
And for a long time Willie was holding barnabas captive, and after a few episodes without barnabas I started missing him.  :( I kept wondering when Barnabas would return.

Although one interesting point was how Willie forced Barnabas to tell his story, and Barnabas obliges. It was fascinating to see him under Willie's control.

Then enter Roxanne! Barnabas and Julia go to Stokes's house to get rid of the life force that is sustaining Angelique, but once Barnabas sees how beautiful she is he instantly decides not to kill her. There has to be some other way. So if she was just a plain girl, it would have been all right to get rid of her? Is that all that motivates Barnabas, is outer beauty?  >:(
Don't get me wrong, I love Barnabas, but sometimes he can be so annoying when he starts waxing poetic about the flawless beauty of a woman, as if that's the only important quality in women.

So he falls in instant love with her, notice that this happened with Quentin and Amanda in 1897 as well, after only knowing Roxanne for a very short time. How can he know he loves her. He knows nothing about her, but of course she's beautiful, so that's reason enough, right?  ::)

These characters didn't inspire any kind of caring, and I just wanted it to be over so we could return to the RT characters we do care about.

All in all I felt PT was very disappointing and a waste of time. They should have stayed in RT and done something more creative.

Dear Teresa:

I'm so very sorry to hear this very sad news. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your friend and her family at this extremely difficult time.

We're all here for you!

I'm sorry, but I just can't like Amanda. Part of it has to do with the fact that she showed up one day, an hour later, bam! she and Quentin were in love and were completely devoted to one another, and poor Beth seems to have been completely shoved to the back of Quentin's memory.

The other thing is there didn't seem to be much substance to her character.. She was just a surface kind of girl who I really couldn't form any sort of liking to.

I agree that Quentin probably didn't truly love Jenny, shame on him then for marrying her, but Beth I believe he really loved. Her death really struck him hard, that is until Amanda comes in to the picture, then she's all he can think about. IMHO, she appeared much too soon after Beth's death, and while we're still mourning the loss of Beth, a person we cared for and hoped would have a future with Quentin, we're expected to instantly adjust to a new character, who is now the new love of his life.  :o

These are simply my opinions though.  :)

Thanks so much for the report, Gothick!  :)

I'm in complete agreement with you, I can't see Dark Shadows without Julia Hoffman. After all, it was her nerves of steel that allowed her to confront Barnabas about being a vampire, and it was from this confrontation that their friendship began.

Through them we were able to experience many adventures.  Grayson Hall did an excellent job with the character, and it is her acting ability which makes us care so much for Julia.

IMHO, it is a testament to great acting when an actor or actress can create a character from the lines they are given, then invest a part of themselves in to that character, which together combine to form a person the audience can grow to care so much for.

Grayson did this beautifully, and it is thanks to her that we still continue to enjoy the strong willed, compassionate Julia Hoffman.

Maybe due to the fact that they sold them so quickly at the fest, MS might consider doing a series two. One can hope.

I didn't see much of the original Burke, he was replaced before I got a real chance to form a proper opinion on him, but from what I saw, I prefer the second burke. He was more gentle and kind, not so hard and cold. So I can see Vicki with the second Burke rather than with the original.

So now is everyone completely confused?  ;D

A nice lady from Utah bought it for $13,000!

Oh, wow!!  :o
well, I knew it would go for a lot so I'm not really surprised, shocked, but not surprised. At least it went for a good cause.  :)
