Current Talk '02 II / Re: blue episode
« on: September 21, 2002, 11:15:02 AM »
i dont think any daytime soap was ever on film except i think sunset beach on nbc? never saw it but i think i remember a report on that on et at the time of its debut but i could be wrong. before tape, they were all done LIVE. im sure the economics had  lot to do with it. there was no editing and they were just to air once(LOL).

Current Talk '02 II / blue episode
« on: September 20, 2002, 08:52:44 PM »
todays episode with the sometimes BLUE shots was a result of a tube that went out in one of the cameras. no circuits back then. each main color had a tube. 1 for red, 1 for green, 1 for blue. it probably went out just before taping and there was no time to fix it.

i purchased the ds dvd #2 from tower video in west hollywood today. it cost about $54 with tax. i never pre order anything. if u live in a major city and dont mind paying a little extra, i suggest this is the way to go. interesting note: just about every dvd in the store was on sale EXCEPT the ds dvd! it was marked $59.95. i brought this to the attention of the clerk and he reduced the price to 49.99 on the spot and explained that he was just about to mark them on sale.

i learned a long time ago to never pre-order anything. i always wait till i know for a fact that it actually exists first. this seems to be especially true for ds related items.

yes it is sad. i love passions as much as dark shadows. watched it since day 1. anyway, it was not a complete suprise to me. i had a notion it was going to happen. u see, in october i attended the N.O.D.S. vista theatre celebration. a star from passions, jade harlow(jessica)was there too. earlier that day i went along with fellow friend DAVID NAHMOD to the passions studio to interview many cast members including josh for SCARY MONSTERS magazine. while there, jade harlow revealed to us that she is a huge fan of the horror genre. we told her to go to the vista theatre celebration that evening and she did! anyway, while talking to her outside the theatre the subject of josh came up and she revealed his condition and claimed that people with this condition do not usually make it to the age of 30!

it was promoted as the 1st MYSTERY soap opera. when it switched from cbs to abc, our local affiliate did not show it. instead a uhf station showed it the next morning, so i never watched it. at least two DS cast members were on the show. JOEL CROTHERS and ROBERT GERRINGER. USA network repeated the last 5 yrs of the show, back in the 80s. if it was owned by abc, it would probably be showing on soapnet but it was/is owned by p+g.

i can remember the days when u didnt need a remote control to program a vcr! but thats one of the reasons why the vcr is much cheaper these days. dont deprive urself of D.S. cause of a remote! get a universal remote from radio shack and ur set!

mine plays fine but when i purchased the special edition dvd, it would not play the nancy barrett segment on my zenith dvd player. zenith even gave me a brand new model for free and it still wont play it. this has been reported many times before so i wont go into it. ive had no problems playing the episodes on the first dvd collection.
