Thank you Vlad and Midnite.  From what you said, I figured it was the other side, but I was hoping for an answer relating to the posted picture rather than the view seen in the opening.  (Of course, I could have gone back to the tape and checked out which view they show - I normally don't pay that much attention to it!!!).  It seemed to me that over time, we've seen different views, so while this one may have been the most common, I assumed the other side must have shown up at some point.

Anyway, I have the Millennium Almanac and then checked out your link to the other one.  Really nice!!  It's good that the tip of the tower shows up - as it helps to relate the other view to that one.  I think the portico was kind of throwing me off, too.  I was sure I had seen other views of the building at some point, and just couldn't relate to that.  It's particularly nice that the Millennium version has a much closer view of the "other side" with the more normal one immediately underneath so that one can study them together.

Thanks for the info!!

I can't see that identifying the object would spoil anything.  There would still be no way of anticipating its significance.  (Actually, at the moment, I can't place exactly how it's used.  I can visualize the scene, but not quite put the details together enough to really remember what happens).

Anyway, I don't know if there's a name for the object but, it's

I think I'll go with Riggs.  We hardly saw him, but heard a lot about him.  They seem to go to him for all sorts of sensitive stuff.  Right here at the end he has to help Ben with moving the coffin back.  And he's sent to get the silver bullets made.  They apparently trust him with everything, and there's no indication of him ever letting them down.

Meanwhile (I think I asked this once before and don't remember the response), where does everyone get the idea that Mrs. Johnson couldn't cook?  Everyone seems to incorporate that idea into stories in which she appears, but I don't recall any mention of it on the show.

Welcome Maria M!!  So glad you've joined in.

I kind of have mixed feelings about the return to 1968.  1795 is so good, and especially all that's been happening and the performances that we've been seeing in recent days.  I've just been "luxuriating" in it and it seems a shame for it to end.

I've told before that many years ago, one of our independent stations was showing it from the coming of Barnabas until way into 1795.  Then, they took it off.  They said it was the most requested show they had had, and so promised to bring it back soon.  Well, they never did.  I had always felt that they could have at least waited until the conclusion of 1795.

Well, when I did finally get to see that part, I discovered that there was a good bit more to happen in 1795 than I had anticipated, and that they weren't so close to the end afterall.

But then--remember the tense situation we left them in at the present day seance.  So, the instant this ends, there isn't a chance to feel even a moment's sense of completion, but we're immediately plunged into the follow-up and all is quite exciting for a while now.

No one seems to have mentioned the fact that Naomi actually saw what he was doing to Millicent.  As she first said to Joshua, "he's like an animal!"  It's not just that he's still alive and maybe has a chance, but she's had a quite graphic indication of what his life is.  And Joshua seems to have indicated that he wasn't successful in Boston.  Her reply indicates that she doesn't believe there's any hope for him.

And, as others have said, she does it before her meeting with him.

I think it was on another thread that someone asked if she might have been carrying the poison around, waiting for an opportunity to use it.  I think she just prepared it now when all this has happened.  The deliberate way she prepared the note for Joshua, then refrained from taking it until she could take care of Vicki, I'm sure she just prepared the poison shortly before this.

Birdie - I'm so glad all came out well for your daughter, but am so sorry to learn of your nephew.

Thank you, Midnite for all of the additional photos.  But, still, is there a way to place the main doors in context of the whole building?  For example, your first pictue (yesterday) shows a lot of it, including the tower, sort of in the middle.  But, on those long shots there's no way to see the close up parts, and I keep wondering where the doors would be!  That's one reason I suggested that maybe it's on the other side and can't be indicated in that view at all.

I always assumed that the Harridges lived somewhere else.  They were a separate family from the town whose daughters became involved with Collins men.  I'm sure they lived in the town and not on the Collins property.  I would guess that it would be the Evans cottage that they lived in.

About the old boards, it really is a shame that they delete them.  SciFi runs the site.  Supposedly they have them archived and it's supposed to be possible to request old ones, but a long time ago I think someone tried and it didn't work.  Recently they did a big overhaul and deleted a lot of old ones.  Given that we have 100 of the "regular" boards and I think it's up to 25 Creative and 18 Lighter Side (generally 100 topics to a board), you can imagine what it would be if they kept all of them.  But it really is a shame that so many things are gone.  Someone did save a lot of the stories on another site, but I forget where that is.  (I'm not a writer, so none of the stories are mine, but I've been a big fan of them.)

I've enjoyed Bakula as the captain, but I don't think they've developed the other characters enough.  In their other series they created a very varied and intriguing assortment of characters and set up all sorts of quirks and interrelationships amongst them and so on, and aside from how clever some of the story developments were, it was primarily those relationships that made the series click.  I keep hoping this one will eventually, but while I'm enjoying it, it just doesn't seem to be up to the level of the others yet.

Very funny, VAM!  I finally checked it out.  I knew it looked familiar, and then I remembered getting the link a while back on the WordPerfect forum I use.  So, I recalled what it would be before it happened.

Then, shortly afterwards I was reading Monday's New York Times and they have an article about this!  Having just seen it, I immediately recognized the picture.  They tell about how popular it's become, how it got started, etc.

One question, though.  I showed it to my aunt a short while ago and then checked it out myself again.  I'd swear that it originally asked what's wrong with the room, so that one knew what one was looking for.  Now, I get the picture only.  I had to tell my aunt to look for something wrong.

Sorry, Barnabas.  While you made a very nice post, I guess it didn't seem to require additional comments the way the other one did.

A lot of us "got started" at the SciFi board.  Eventually the "precursor" to this board at VantageNet was created, and the other board pretty much died.  Robin still posts Robservations there, and some of us comment.  Occasionally there are other posts.  There are separate Creative and Lighter Side boards for fiction which are still used, although not nearly as much as they were back then.  On the "regular" board, we are up to Board #100.  As the older boards "disappear" a lot of the wonderful stories are gone, too, but there are still some on the current creative boards.

http://bboard.scifi.com/bboard/  is the main bulletin board listing for all of the categories (classic scifi, current, etc.) and
http://bboard.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/1 is the Classic SciFi TV board which includes the various DS boards.

Way back, I used to regularly watch our "Chiller Theater" with all of the horror and scifi movies, but I don't see much of that stuff any more.  I'm very big on the whole Star Trek universe.  So far I'm not as thrilled with Enterprise as all of the previous series, but I still like it.

Thank you for the wonderful photos. Midnite! :)

I've always wanted to ask where the front door is.  Does it show up in your picture or is it on the other side of the building?

And, for that matter, I assume it's not the real front door we see everyday, since we constantly see them using it.  Is it a duplicate of the real one or just a nice door they created for the show?

I think MikeS is right.  Sometimes it takes a while to figure out just which was which. Will contain spoilers for the last two storylines:

In RT, Julia came into the past and Ben was living at Collinwood and found her and helped her.  Carrie was his granddaughter, and so lived there, too, and presumably continued to live there after his death.

In PT Carrie was psychic and some of the Collinses went to the cottage to try to get her help.  It apparently had also been the meeting place in their past of Amanda Collins and her lover (Forsythe?).
