Not to be hogging the newbie spotlight, but I thank you all again for the welcomes, the curses and the help from the bottom of my DarkShadowy heart!  :D

Thanks, Annie, for the welcome, and Midnite, for the explanation, it did help. So glad to find a place where I can enjoy being cursed!

This newbie thanks you for the welcome, Josette.  :)

I'm still learning my way around the forums (not sure I completely understand the cure/curse thing). Very glad to be here and happy to see there are newer newbies than me!

May we all have an early warm spring! Nowhere near as chilly here in this Great Lakes/Midwest area as it in the Northeast. It was great having 50 degree weather around Christmas (for me, anyway) but as CastleBee says, this is the calm before the storm- usually late January around these parts. That's when the dreaded freezing rain was here for awhile last year. Ick!

Great site!  I enjoyed the reviews of "Suspiria" which I saw for the first time a couple weeks ago. Keep up the good work!

I saw that one, too, and have it on dvd as well. Always one of my favorite TZ episodes.

The Twilight Zone ep I was hoping they'd play so I could tape it is the one with Elizabeth Montgomery & Charles Bronson as post-WW3 survivors. I can't seem to find that on dvd.

Just starting watching set #6 last weekend. I have all the sets through #9. I got behind on viewing the eps during the holidays. I take it ep #558 is in set #9?

The upcoming Dark Shadows Set #10 is $41.99 at CD Universe, with $5.99 shipping (3-7 days). At amazon.com, the same set is $50.98 with free shipping available.

I would go with CD-U but I've found a cd I want at amazon that's $4 dollars cheaper than at CD Universe. Gotta love price comparison checking on the net.

My favorite set is the Collinwood drawing room, especially when Vicky is in it. I also like the Evans cottage. Sam Evans' studio and Maggie's room, although small, appeared nice & comfortable.

Music...I love Josette's Theme and Quentin's Theme. I don't know if it has a name, but I love that quick  melodramatic, cliff-hanging mini-theme that plays either at the end of the show or right before a commercial break. From my poor memory, it sounds something like  "duhn-duhn-DUHN!"

I'm looking forward to the new Dark Shadows. It doesn't matter to me if they attempt to remake the original show or if they create a whole new version and reinvent (some) characters and storylines. As long as they remain at least a little faithful to the most basic plotlines I'd watch it.  A good serious anime version of DS would be fine by me.  I'm pretty easy to please, Dark Shadows-wise.

I'm not sure I have a favorite SL. Some SL's did seem to go on too long (the Leviathan SL comes easily to mind) while some didn't last long enough for me (1795). I stayed with and enjoyed the show til the end. Most of my friends at the time had stopped watching DS in late '69.

Current Talk '04 I / Re:1795 101 discussion...

I've been watching the 1795 storyline eps on dvd for a couple weeks now. I wish they had stayed in that time period longer than they did though I guess they wanted to tell how Barnabas became a vampire and then move on.

Does Anthony George leave the series at this point? My memory of the show other than what I've seen on dvd is a bit fuzzy. Isn't Jeremiah supposed to be Elizabeth Collins Stoddard's great-grandfather? If that's true, where are his children? Or for that matter, how does the Collins family line continue if Barnabas, Jeremiah and Sarah all die? As much as I recall, Naomi & Joshua don't have any more children nor does Joshua's sister Abagail. In watching the 1795 eps, I had assumed that Jeremiah would live & remarry. I did like his character and was surprised they killed him off so soon.

To me it would have made sense if Barnabas had told somebody that Angelique was the witch. Tell anyone & everyone, from Nathan Forbes to Rev Trask. Having Barnabas remain silent on this wouldn't affect his eventual fate. She could put the curse on Barnabas at any time, whether in jail or before being hung at the gallows.  If Angelique Collins had been tried and punished for witchcraft, wouldn't that be noted in the Collins family history book that Vicky brought back in time with her? Maybe that was a paradox that had to be avoided.

I think the reason that neither Josette nor anyone else in her family suspected Angelique is that they didn't pay her much mind as she was just a servant. Why would a witch allow herself to be a mere servant, maybe that was reasoning. If it hadn't been for the Collins family history book, perhaps Josette would have  suspected Angelique, especially after Angelique lied to Josette & her aunt about Barnabas being out of town when he was upstairs in the Old House dying. I thought her aunt Natalie would have guessed something was very wrong about Angelique by then. Angelique seemed to have petty excuses for everything which everyone believed!
