I was just thinking about that, AD.  Although,
the "Is Alexis really Angelique?" question that drove the HODS-cast-is-absent initial PT 1970 storyline grew stale rather quickly.
I wonder what she has to gain by not taunting Barnabas?  Especially when she makes her Dream Curse debut as Angelique Classic.

I may have nicknamed her that ...  [ghost_grin]

Especially when one considers the abounding inconsistencies cropping up in later storylines, the fact that the writers remember and reuse the "Blair" surname two months after introducing it here in a throwaway moment impresses me muchly.

I was always amazed that, given the technical aspects of Our Favorite Show, the damned thing never fell off her head.  Even La Montgomery nearly lost it in my favorite episode of Bewitched, "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble," where Samantha smacks Serena in the gob with a pie, causing the wig to very obviously slide backward.

And even when a certain someone slaps another certain someone in a much deserved moment, the Horrible Untamed Raccoon Creature stays put.

Eh, she wants to play cat-and-mouse with him.  Or, to quote the forthcoming
Nicholas Blair, "You sure you don't still love him?"
Following up on my ideas about magical hair dye vs. an actual wig, does Cassandra use her powers to fool Julia with a magically disguised fake ankle sprain?

Oh Dom, I love you!

You know, I was thinking about this the other day, and I never thought Cassandra actually wore a wig (LP, yes; Cassandra, no).  I just assumed she used magic (cheaper than Ms. Clairol).  Then I re-evaluated after I read a summary of this episode somewhere online (can't remember where), and the summarizer described the episode's final scene as Cassandra pretending to adjust her WIG while using the portrait as a mirror.

... nope, I still don't think it's supposed to be a wig.
Ooooooh, I like that idea!  I used to tell myself that the Devil sent Ang back to 1840, just as he did Cassandra in 1968 after she was de-vampirized and was amusing herself screwing with Liz's head again, but this time after she actively helped Barnabas end the Leviathans.
Oh, you're certainly welcome.   [ghost_wink]
(For the record, I believe it goes something like this ...  Angelique Cassandra Valerie Miranda Bouchard Collins Collins DuVal DuBois Rumson Collins DuVal ... depending on the order of her timeline, I suppose ... sigh.)
I think you're probably right, Magnus.  I've been analyzing Angelique's timeline on the show for twenty years or so, and *most* of the time it makes sense.  I think she followed Vicki from 1795, which, (logically?) puts her on the scene (invisibly) right around the time Vicki gets back.
Plus Cassandra has a long, lovely monologue with Barnabas' portrait where she says, "I never would have known you were free from your chains if Victoria Winters had not come to the past."
I do so love the idea of a "time trail" though.   [ghost_smiley]

Ah, Cassandra -- my favorite character (or iteration, I suppose, of Angelique ... Cassangemirandavalerique DuVal Bouchard Collins Collins DuVal DuBois Rumson Collins.)  Isn't this wig APPALLING?!?  Like some kind of horrible untamed raccoon creature perched atop her head.  I actually asked Lara Parker about it at the 1998 Fest, but she seemed to have no memory of ever wearing a dark wig ...

Interesting that Angelique didn't get this pissy when Julia tried to cure Barnabas.

I can recall being EXTREMELY stressed out while watching the 1991 series finale -- I guess I knew intellectually that Vicki would probably survive and make it back to the present okay ... but there was that little niggling doubt ...

I find I don't begin to become truly -- TRULY -- irritated by Roger Davis until his portrayal of Jeff Clark.  After that, he's mostly a lost cause.   [easter_grin]

I always thought that Thayer David was the most versatile actor on DS (Nancy Barrett comes a close second).  Compare Matthew Morgan to Ben Stokes, two very similar looking characters whom the audience is utterly unable to confuse.
And sometimes I forget that it's Thayer under all that wooly Count Petofi jazz.   [easter_tongue]
I always cringe a little at Tony's "old man" remark (though it is rather amusing when one reflects on the way Carolyn fell under Barnabas' influence to begin with); after all, Barn looked so young in 1795!  We're never really told how old he is; I always figured, theoretically, late twenties (which is a stretch, I know, but for the purposes of the story, or at least the 1795 story, which rewrote a lot of canon that came before).

And I have some weird appreciation for Angelique's stand-in laughter, which is used once or twice in a rather inexplicable way:
for instance, during Cassandra's last appearance, Elizabeth hears the fake laughter before the lady herself emerges from the shadows of the trees.  Why not just have LP laugh?  Sigh and head shake.
