I didn't know any of those.  However, just the night before we happened to have TV Land on and they were showing the Chuckles episode and I was wondering who the priest was - thought he seemed familiar!!

Have you ever heard of Beehive?  That's what this is.  I have no idea what happens when I post in a different font like that.  I assume that if you have Beehive on your computer that you'll see it - as we did with your new ones.

I guess the forum fonts override mine.  Anyway, if you have Beehive - try something in it.

I have had some occasions when I converted a list of names and addresses from WordPerfect to Word and when I brought it up in Word, parts of it were in this Beehive.  At first I thought it was a bunch of nonsense, but if you look closely, the letters suddenly become apparent.  I think it's a riot.

Fortunately, I read everything before trying this!!  All right - it's fun for a bit - but it will certainly be a pain reading everything like this.  I suppose I could just delete the fonts again.

Calendar Events / Announcements '03 II / Vampire Killing Kit
« on: November 01, 2003, 09:53:41 AM »
CNN had a feature about an auction at Sotheby's of a vampire-killing kit.  Supposedly these were popular in the 17 and 1800s with people traveling to Eastern Europe - but one expert indicated that it might just have been a curiosity item that people brought back from there.  It contained a wooden stake and hammer, a pistol and 10 silver bullets that had crosses on them, a prayer book and a crucifix.  It was a walnut box with garlic powder.

The auction got up to $10,000 plus the $2,000 fee for the auction house - $12,000.  She stated that the purchaser was anonymous and indicated that you would want to be anonymous too, if you had just paid $12,000 for a vampire killing kit!  And ended with "there's a bloodsucker born every minute."

I saw another tidbit on CNN where they were debunking various myths - one of which was that if a cat jumps over a coffin before the burial, the deceased will become a vampire!!!  Maybe something like that could explain the "original" Roxanne, when Barnabas wasn't on the scene!!

And, I happened to catch a bit of Letterman where he had a bat expert on who was telling about how bats really live, etc. and had some bats with her.

Welcome, Jordi!!  That really is a shame for you to find the show just before it disappears.  As others have said, it could reappear at some point. SciFi took it off for a while a few years ago and then brought it back.

There is a video store near me that got the whole series of tapes (not the Classic ones - the beginning, but from the coming of Barnabas through the end).  Before SciFi I was able to rent the whole thing.  Maybe you'll be lucky and find a place like that.

Meanwhile, it's nice to have you with us.  :)

Black and white?  Or has it changed again since you wrote that?

I get a gray background with pink letters and the surrounding background is darker, more in the maroon family.

I like the pink!

Current Talk '03 II / Re:How Many Heads?

When Julia and Barnabas find the "dead" Judah Zachary, all that is really seen is the arm sticking out from under the rubble.  I always assumed that the head became severed again in that disaster and influenced Gerard to take it with him.

Our newspaper always has a list of well-known people's birthdays.  I was reading the paper while watching the show today and just as Kate was on talking to Quentin, I come across her birthday - 55!

I wanted to add my two-cents on the Julia/Barnabas relationship. I guess life doesn't always take you where you should be. The Julia/Barnabas thing was such a quirk. I feel that after Barnabas found out time travel was possible (when Vickie came back from 1795) the show should have focused on him desperately trying to get back as I feel Barnabas belonged in this own time.

I never thought of it before, but with you saying this, the logical thing to have happened would have been for Barnabas to have tried desperately to get back to BEFORE Martinique and to make sure he didn't have an affair with Angelique in the first place!!!
