Current Talk '03 II / Re:Gerard Question
« on: November 20, 2003, 08:16:49 AM »
Naturally, during 1995 and 1970 one has no idea of Judah Zachary - so one assumes that this Gerard is quite evil and powerful.  Upon actually getting to 1840, once Judah possesses him, it always seemed obvious to me that it was really Judah, in the persona of Gerard, who haunted Collinwood through the centuries.

The one thing about this trial - at least up to this point when Desmond is charged - is that both Dawson and Desmond are legitimate lawyers opposing each other.

As to Vlad's comment about Quentin's role being what a defendant's role should be - I think that was Julian's point - they created a plot where there wasn't much of anything for him to do.

This was mentioned on the CNN ticker today - saying that it asked for Social Security number and mother's maiden name!!  Even if one knowingly went to their site, let alone received a pop-up, I can't imagine giving out that sort of information!!!!

Barnabas triumphantly and "casually" indicating how "normal" it is to be around during daylight with that shocked look on Gerard's face has got to be one of the best moments of the whole show.

The only unfortunate thing is Gerard insisting that someone must have helped him to do this, followed by the seemingly casual entrance of Valerie, whom he knows is Miranda and so presumably has his answer.

Also - some unfortunate timing - given something that will soon happen.

I think the show would have been better if there had been no additional PT and they had gone back to the present and done something to resolve the characters there.  I have no idea if they had already introduced PT before they knew they were coming to an end.  If they had, then it DID seem necessary to resolve what they had started.

So, given that we had already been introduced to the PT story, I always found it rather fitting that they closed up 1840, had the brief finale in the present to show what had happened, then went back to finish the already begun story in PT.

And, they had that little "tagline" at the end which was rather nice.

That's the first I've ever seen any mention of "Our Five Daughters."  I loved that!  It was quite short lived and I was very disappointed when it went off and I wrote down a synopsis of the whole show!!  I still have vague recollections of some of the characters and a couple of situations.

Interesting comments, Jennifer.  The other day I heard that she recognized her parents, they've apparently found no brain damage, and I think I saw today that she's improving!  Amazing!!  I certainly hope she comes through it all right.
