I wasn't surprised to hear in the commentary afterward that people left the theater in droves during the original run.
I'm not surprised either, I'm glad they shortened it. The end was pretty weird. The man with no legs, reminded me of someone I knew who lost his legs in a motorcycle accident, he would run with his hands, fast too.

My daughter lucked out, they changed her back to school date from Aug. 26 to Sept. 17, so she's been with her dad all week. I've had a whole week to myself, a rare luxury.

Yes, like "The Shining" (1980). I wouldn't call it pathetic, but they did leave out some key things from the Stephen King novel.
