The show has lost none of it's suspense or moody atmosphere for me.  The fact that Julia was had an unrequited love for Barnabas went completely over my head as a kid watching the first time around.  One thing has not changed--it's simply great storytelling. :)

Why were there blue candles in the Old House---I think this has more to do with the fact that the show was made in the sixties.  Bright, neon, psychdelic colors were in vogue then. IIRC lime green candles were used too.  Everything seemed  more intense then--even the colors. 8)

Since about 7-5 I have been getting the"DS Boards is currently offline " message.  I did think the board was  down.  Then last night I set my browser on Lycos and typed in Dark  Shadows  Forums  and was able to get back to the board.  ;D

One of my favorite bad horror movies is  a Mexican film called Brainiac.  It's one of those that's so bad it's good--as escapist entertainment.  It's a vampire movie--when the character turns into a vampire he looks like the Count on Sesame Street. ::)

I vividly remember seeing the chicken leg scene when I was a kid.  Hadn't seen it since though.  It must be the reason I don't remember being a Willie fan back then.  Willie is no [angl] but I wanted to smack him for being so mean to Adam [angrb].  But this is proof of JK's skill as an actor--he makes you feel these strong emotions. :)

I liked the show better when it was more of a spooky old house gothic drama.  [spidr]

Jason Maguire was one of my favorite characters(a non-supernatural villain).  [vryevl].  He and Willie were good together--there was great chemistry between them. 8)
