A few people hated McAfee and gave examples of it messing up their systems.  I've never had a problem with it and someone else indicated that he had had no problems.  I remember some others reporting bad things about Norton.

Then someone else mentioned one called Avast and said that AVG can be programmed to check for updates once a day, but Avast checks constantly when connected and has a friendly user interface.  Also, apparently AVG was undecided about remaining free (this was last May).  As you can see from the above, they do still have a free version.  The link for Avast is:  http://www.avast.com/

I had always heard that one shouldn't have more than one anti-virus program on the computer.  It's a shame you had to learn that the hard way.

You shouldn't have to pay for antivirus software.

 

That would be nice - but it's not true, Vlad.  I don't know how Dell does it, but Gateway provided 3 months of the Norton.  During that period one gets the free updates, but when it expires, you have to buy that program or another.

The McAfee I have now is a year's subscription during which time the updates are free, but one does have to purchase the subscription.

I like realizing stuff like this because now when I watch 1897 the next time, it will be like watching with a different set of eyes. I'll be thinking, "Hey, that Liz's and Roger's father." I should be embarrassed, but I'm a silver lining kind of guy.

I often like watching things a 2nd or 3rd time, particularly mysteries.  It's fun to see all the clues and developments once one knows what's really happening.  While there's nothing mysterious about this, it certainly provides a different perspective.  I always wonder when watching Jamison, trying to picture him as their father.  I always assumed their father would be rather stiff and unyielding, but watching the young Jamison, I can't picture him growing up like that.

The early (RT) Flora Collins was often humorous.  As the story progressed, she became caught up in the tragedies occurring, and became a more "normal" character, but in the first part of the story she was so much fun.  I'm sure there were a number of specifically humorous lines, but I can't recall anything at the moment.

P.S.  I mentioned once before that sometimes the figures don't move.  Right now, my one musician is playing, but all the things on both yours and mine are still (at least before I posted this - it's possible they'll be moving once I've posted this addition!).
