Yea, I didn't think they were having an auction this year either, or that they were going to have a Collinsport Players Skit, but they're both in the line up, so apparently they are happening.

What Janet described is correct. They'd like the line to move faster than what it really does, but people like to stop and look at what they're going to bid on, of course. But it is a lot of fun and last year they had some really great stuff, so I hope they have awesome stuff again this year, too!

Thanks for all the responses to my meal questions. And I hope that we have a fridge in our room because if we do, I'll definitely head down to that small grocery store and pick up some stuff.

And a Starbucks in the hotel? Oh God. There goes all my 12-step programs right down the drain!

I just have a couple of questions about the fest this weekend, since I'm going:

I remember people saying that there were some good restaurants around the area in Tarrytown that would allow for us to eat outside of the hotel, and perhaps not pay the high prices for the hotel food. What restaurants are there and about how far away are they?

Also, since I'll be driving up, I'm hoping that there's a parking area at the hotel??

Thanks.

I, too, am leaving on Thursday with Mom, and my Uncle. It's about 5 hours or so for us, so we want to be able to take our time. We'll be there Thursday-Sun, so I hope I'll see some of you there!

And I'm trying to convince the mom to go up to Sleepy Hollow because I figure, as close as we are, and we have all day Sunday to get home, why not go up there for an hour or so? I just want to poke around a bit, take some snaps, and that's it.

I remember the biting cold last year inside the hotel. I found myself going OUTSIDE to warm up. lol. I didn't bring a jacket or a sweater or anything, so I was freezing most of the time.

I think it all kind of gets sketchy. Because personally, if I wrote something and created characters for that something, they would be MY creations, not anyone elses. Certainly the producers, actors, and many other people involved making whatever I had written into something on screen would be responsible for bringing those characters TO LIFE, nothing more.

In a lot of interviews surrounding the new Buffy Season 8 comics, Joss Whedon is asked if he'll cross over Angel and Spike to the S8 comics, as they were both on Angel the Series when it went off the air. And he always says that while HE OWNS the characters and can do WHATEVER HE WANTS with them, though he chooses not to because he likes what IDW, the publishers behind the current Angel comics, is doing with the characters, and he doesn't want to step on their toes.

Isn't that normal? I mean, I would think it is, because FOX produced Buffy the television show, and if you want to get something licensed with the Buffy name on it, you have to go through FOX and Joss, but generally if Joss approves it, FOX says nothing of it.

I guess it just comes down to small details.

I quite liked Alec Newman in the 04 pilot, but the one thing that I didn't like about him was the way he played the familiar scene where Barnabas calls Josette's name longingly like 4 times--the way he played it made it seems a little too cheesy.

And I could swear that a couple of the articles that I read that were posted in the other Depp movie topic said that Depp was going to star as Barnabas.

More than likely the Fest organizers have just decided to update the site, so that's why the picture was there at first, and then not there the next day. The only confirmed guests I know of are Jonathan Frid, Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Diana Millay, Marie Wallace, and Betsy Durkin Matthes.

First, welcome to the forum.

To answer your first question:

People dress differently for the banquet. Some go with casual dress--last year I wore kakhi's with a collared shirt and some nicer shoes. Some wear a button up shirt and a tie, with slacks and dress shoes, and still others go the entire suit and tie route. So, basically, anything from casual dress up is pretty much good, if you want to dress up. As for the rest of the fest, I just wore whatever I felt like--shorts and a t-shirt, etc. Pack a light jacket, because even though we're in a heat wave this summer, last year I found myself getting chilly a few times throughout the weekend.

And to answer your second one, I"m not sure how common it is for cast and crew to just show up. I mean, anyone is welcome, and they may be adding people to the guest list of stars all the way up to the week of the actual fest, so I'd just keep an eye out on the ShadowGram email updates, and if you don't hear anything at all, then look around for Denise at the fest, and, if you find her, get some alone time with her to talk!

Hope this helps. See ya there!

I, for one, quite enjoyed the 04 DS Pilot. The only thing it suffered under was the direction, as many involved with the project have pointed out. Having read, and owning, a copy of the script, that was completely solid, and much of what was on the screen followed what was in the script. Only thing that detracted heavily from it was the ending, but I thought it was a fair start for something that would get better. Because, let's face it, most show pilots suck compared to what comes later.

And if the WB Pilot had've been made this year, for this fall's line up, it probably would be picked up. It seems that just after the 04 pilot was made, like others have pointed out, is when the off-beat, supernatural, mysterious etc craze really started. I mean, we have Supernatural, Heroes, Bionic Woman (coming up), The Sarah Connor Chronicles (also upcoming), Pushing Daises (yet another upcoming), Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Moonlight ('nother upcoming), and who knows how many I've forgotten to list. Sadly, DS was before it's time, yet again.

I too have to give it up to these three men. I mean, these sets that they created are so real, that whenever I see a bad camera angle that reveals the lights above, or the end of a set (where we can see off the actual set and to the area surrounding it) I often look away because I don't want the world to be blown.

But then, often times my curiosity of wanting to know what it looked like OFF SET and around the studio get the better of me, so I will slow down my DVD player and go slowly through each frame to study what I can see. Oh well.

I have to agree with you on the TV Commercials and Promotional Spots, but I haven't watched the spanish version of episode 289. I'll have to give that a look. I did kind of like Inside the Shadows, though it recycled much of the information we've heard before.

On the Reunion disc, my favorites were the 69 JF interview on the Merv Griffin Show, and the 70 JB interview on the Mike Douglas show. I also enjoyed the bulk of the disc, which was the Reunion stuff, but I watched it before I had been to a fest myself, so that got me primed and ready for the real thing.

As for the Bloopers and Treasures DVD, I love the bloopers. Especially the one with Lara Parker playing the twins Alexis and Angelique in 1970PT. They show a run through of the lines as she's making sure she can see the teleprompter from where she stands, and then takes you through her playing each side of the scene--Alexis and then Angelique--and then it shows the finished product. It's a neat thing to see. Plus, Lara's line to someone off stage when they first start and she can't see the teleprompter is priceless! I laugh every time.

The "treasures" were less than amusing, as all they were was familiar DS songs and scores set against pictures and clips from when they were used in the show. I was hoping that they might have collected a few of the fan music videos that they show at the fest sometimes, and that are available on You Tube. B/c those ARE hilarious.

Yea, they information sheet probably tells you what to do when you get there, and probably explains again, for the thick-skulled ones out there that JF isn't signing anything other than this photo. He'll probably come around to each table, and if you'd like him to personalize it beyond his name already being signed, that's what the card will be used for, to tell him what to write on it.
