This is just really tragic - makes me so sad.

Have no doubt that some dimwits will think this reflects badly on Dark Shadows fandom in general.  But the story will probably not get much play outside the NYC press.  And I think most who do hear about it will realize these people could have met anywhere.

The human loss is the tragedy, but the whole gun issue is the scariest part to me. Is it a good thing to make handguns so readily available?  And even though I'm sure the gun must've been in a bag he checked before his flight, the fact that you can even bring one with you on a plane AT ALL just beggars belief!

How interesting, Joeytrom.  I'm guessing that by young, the writers meant less than 250. ;)

The big mystery for me about DS is just how Bennett managed to win so regularly in the wardrobe sweepstakes.

Maybe because she was a movie star?  Granted, she hadn't been in any recent hits...

Off to watch last night's episode of Trading Spaces so I can see what chaos Angelique's sister under the skin (I speak here, of course, of Hildi Santo-Thomas) is going to wreak on a Texas schoolteacher's living room.

Oh, this is really TOO much!  Okay, my sides hurt from laughing now.  I'll never look at Trading Spaces the same way again!!!

How many of us routinely watch anything else on Sci Fi?...What about the miniseries "Taken?"  It gave Sci Fi the highest ratings of any cable channel, for the first time.  I'd be curious to know how many of US were watching that.  I certainly wasn't.  And I don't think that would come as any surprise to the number-crunchers at Sci Fi.

I watched Taken when it aired recently on SciFi, and enjoyed it for the most part...especially the first half.  Though it wasn't the best thing I ever saw, I think there was appeal to folks outside the 18-35 demographic (of which I am NOT a member, I might add).

Also am a big fan of the X-Files, so have lately been watching it on the channel as well. Have also been known to catch an ep of Twilight Zone and/or Star Trek.  And I totally miss Quantum Leap with yummy Scott Bakula.  Maybe they'll bring it back sometime.

I agree with you Raineypark, that SciFi probably doesn't care too much about pissing off DS fans, as evinced by the number of times they pre-empt the show. But obviously they must have SOME regard for the show, given the number of times they've aired it in the past few years.

But then again, they're also still airing Sightings...;)

The two aren't really comparable, IMHO.  I love them both, but for different reasons.  Barnabas (except for when he's bad) is like a benevolent uncle whom you'd turn to in scary or tough times.  He'd be a faithful friend and an interesting conversationalist - I could listen to that voice of his all day and night.

Quentin on the other hand, you cannot rely on for a thing - except to follow his own (usually prurient) interests.  He's totally gorgeous, but as we see him now on the show he's a selfish bad boy.  Granted, that can be attractive, but only for a limited run.

To sum it up - for a confidante or for someone to have my back in a supernatural throwdown, I choose Barnabas.  If it's a night of kinky passion, it's Quentin all the way!

Hey Carol,

Looking forward to reading your story, as I've never read a fanfic about Willie, and really love the character.

Good luck with the laser eye procedure, I'm sure you'll do just fine!!!  :)

Take care and happy holidays to all!!!

What fun websites!  Wish I had longer to look at all the great old pictures and interviews.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes Connie, you should definitely post more chapters!  I'm excited to see where this story will go, and intrigued by what's going on between the characters already.

It's an easy read, it seems to just flow right along.  What you've done in terms of description and characterization helps me to sort of see everything as it's happening. There are so many different paths this story could take - looking forward to the one you choose!

Keep up the good work! [thumb]

Anyway the reason I think Laura acted as she did when her portrait burned and what she meant by what she said is this. When her portrait burned she could feel the flames. It had "been so long" since she'd burned.

There are people who believe that having their picture taken steals parts of their soul. Perhaps these portraits do have a part of the person in them?

I think the latter part of this is definitely true for those who inhabit Collinwood - I wouldn't turn my back on anyone's portrait in that house! But as to the earlier part, it hadn't been very long since she'd burned.  Didn't Quentin say he'd seen her consumed by flames in Alexandria a year before?  Unless she needs to burn every month or so.

Maybe Laura just has hot pants. ;)
