Thanks Criseyde -- a lot of the bigger DS sites, including mine, are hosted on paid servers, which come out of our pockets, so Amazon Associates is a real godsend.  It costs the purchaser nothing, and offers us a vital form of income to continue celebrating "Dark Shadows" with fans on the internet :)

And, of course, the DVDs are pretty amazing too... ;)

No, sorry Stokes isn't an option...  I guess my repetoire of naff DS jokes didn't stretch far enough ;)

The options are Angelique, Barnabas, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Julia, Quentin and Vicki.  So now you know...

BTW: your dvd vs vhs comparison is a bit misleading because there's usually some bluring when a vcr is in freeze-frame mode; so the difference probably isn't as dramatic as you have presented it.

It's not misleading -- if anything, it doesn't do the difference justice.  The DVD transfers are so much sharper and more tonal than the VHS pictures.  I wasn't expecting to be that wowed by the picture, but the DVD episodes are so pin-sharp and clear that it's just a pleasure to rewatch these episodes.  It's like viewing a different show to the broadcasts on Sci-Fi.

There aren't any Easter Eggs on the DVDs... sorry.

Too be honest, I'd rather they didn't try to cram any more material onto the discs than they're doing at the moment.  The odd commentary here and there would be nice, but otherwise I'd prefer the disc space to used to keep the episode quality nice and crisp :)

The menus are amazing, IMO -- they're just so nicely presented and creepy and the subtle animation and sound effects sets the whole package up so well :)

I guess that the photo images of Barnabas will be altered to reflect the content of each disc set, so I guess we'll start seeing some new characters on the menus soon -- there really is zip photographically from this era other than 20 billion shots of Jonathan pouting or fanging...

But either way, I'm thrilled with my set -- it really is like watching a new show at times :)

Wow!  I'm so pleased to see that people have enjoyed this feature so much.  Yesterday was the site's first birthday and I'm really pleased to say that it achieved its highest daily visitor count ever, outstripping the previous record by nearly 100!

As for me, apparently I'm...

Looking at the site stats, most people seem to be Quentin, with no one apparently sharing anything in common with poor Elizabeth... awwwww... ;)

According to Jim Pierson, the mystery food was polenta, the cornmeal stuff...  Which didn't make me like it any more -- ick... ;)

I think I was Quentin too...  glad you liked it :)

LOL @ timeshare comments...

Like pretty much everything connected to Roger Davis over the weekend, I think most people just gritted their teeth and tried to ignore it as politely as possible ;)

Well, hopefully I'm no shopping whore, but here goes...

Snazzy HODS mug, 2003 Calendar, Jekyll and Hyde Dan Curtis DVD and... erm... something like 50 photographs.

Yeah, actually... on second thoughts...

;)

I haven't got much to add to what everyone else has said, simply that it was generally a great convention, and that it was great seeing so many friends from the DS community there.

I've just added a gallery of pictures to me site at http://www.collinwood.net -- there should be a second batch of pictures going up later this week, fingers crossed.

Cheers

Just a quick note to say that I've updated my site with the cover graphic for the second DS DVD Box Set -- check it out http://www.collinwood.net and click "News"

I've also added 60 new summaries to the episode guide, covering the period up until the 1795 flashback.

Cheers
