Grandmama Edith is one female who can't be swayed by Quentin's charm.  He couldn't weasel the secret out of her.  I guess it was a blooper when she called him Edward instead of Quentin but many older people are forgetful--they will go through several names before they get it right.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: FAVORITE SCENE FEATURING DENNIS PATRICK
« on: October 18, 2002, 06:11:59 AM »
It's hard to pick just one scene because truly he was so good in every scene he was in.  I like the scenes he was in with Willie ( the one where Willie--after being bitten by Barnabas--is so weak that he falls and Jason tries to get him upstairs is one of my favorites).  He and John Karlen played well together and from Connie's photo's on another thread they obviously had great fun teasing one another at the fests.

I read this person's review on the Barnes and Noble website. I was very offended by the reference to the stars  and fans of DS as "tragic people with failed lives". If he wanted to make points about rude or unfriendly people at the fests he could have done that without insulting the stars and fans. As stated before by another poster the review had little to do with the 30th Anniversary video. It seems to me that this is someone who wants to make trouble and I too would steer clear of this person.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: BLACKWOOD'S BEST DRESSED LIST
« on: October 11, 2002, 04:40:07 AM »
Elizabeth--On the very first episode she looked so glamorous in that black dress and jewels. She had the best wardrobe in the show.8)

Roger--He looked great lounging around Collinwood in those elegant smoking jackets.[coolg]

Maggie--Occasionally, she wore mod sixties styles--the quilted skirt, the paisley mini-dress. Those styles were "in" then.[coolb]

Current Talk '02 II / Re: TRICK OR TREAT????
« on: October 09, 2002, 04:49:15 AM »
Old House-- Willie would answer the door.  He would be nice and give the kids candy.  The trick or treaters would be treated by the sight of Josette's ghost dancing around the pillars in front of the house.[ghost]

Big House--Mrs. Johnson would answer the door. She would be a sourpuss but would give the kids candy and shoo them away.  The trick or treaters could hear the sound of Quentin laughing as they leave.[evilb]

Blair House--Nicholas would answer the door. He would trick them by putting rocks in  their bags. [vryevl]

I imagine the ghost of Bill Malloy would be skulking around the woods around Collinwood to frighten the kids as they were trick or treating :o

The actress you mentioned who had an out-of-wedlock birth was Loretta Young.  Her daughter, Judy Lewis wrote a book about this called Open Secret. Back in the 1930's when this ocurred it would have ruined her career to have an out-of-wedlock child openly.

The portrait of Betty Hanscomb bears a resemblance to both Vicky and Elizabeth (especially because the  woman in the  portrait has her hair up just like Elizabeth did early in the series). However, I believe Vicky was the illegitimate child of Paul Stoddard and Betty Hanscomb as was outlined in the  original storyline "bible".

A close tie between Ben and Julia. Willie was under Barnabas's power much of the time so he had no choice. Julia's loyalty stems from her romantic designs on him.  Ben was treated much better than Willie by Barnabas--he showed Barnabas unselfish loyalty.

Early in the series Sam and Burke confront Roger about the car accident which killed a  man (sending Burke to prison). They get him to admit that he was driving the car that night and let an innocent man go to prison.  >:(
