Current Talk '02 II / Re: Jenny
« on: November 07, 2002, 09:55:36 PM »
This is the first time I've viewed the 1897 storyline--I have a couple of questions. If Jenny is Magda's sister, why doesn't she have a gypsy accent like Magda? Also, about the Jane Eyre story influencing this storyline--if Jenny was married to Quentin why would she want to burn Edward (the Rochester character) in his bed and not Quentin--her husband? [huhb]

IIRC Carolyn saw her tombstone in her dream during the "Dream Curse" storyline.  Maybe they just recycled the tombstone thinking no one would notice or it was just an oversight.?!?

From the same time period (sixties)? I think Mia Farrow could have played Vicky--she played an ingenue on "Peyton Place."  I could imagine Geraldine Chaplin in the part--don't think she would have done a soap though. [coolb]

"Daughters of Darkness" starring John Karlen. It would have to be heavily edited to be on TV.[blshb] Very sexy.

I am neither a Jaclyn Smith  nor a Kate Jackson fan (sorry). Maybe it's because they were both on that insipid "Charlie's Angels". I don't think either of them are impressive actresses.  I liked Alexandra Moltke--I believe she gets short shrift from some. She may not have been in the same league as, say, Grayson Hall or Nancy Barrett who had great range, but she had a certain understated quality and class. Better writing for her character might have improved the perception of her as an actress. However, Jacklyn Smith would have been a better replacement than Betsy Durkin.[sun]

Daniel was Edith's father-in-law. We don't know  who his wife was.   Who were the children of Edith and her husband ? (the parents of Judith, Edward, Quentin, and Carl). The writers seem to have written around that generation. I think Joan Bennett ( in her late fifties) was too old to be Quentin and Carl's sister. Perhaps she didn't want to be cast in a mother role to these grown children? It is hard to keep the facts straight. ?!?

Poor Edward. On today's eps--10-28--  his frustrating efforts to pry the secret out of Grandmama--"Tell me the secret Grandmother.  The secret!" were in vain.  He couldn't learn the secret before [grim] came for Grandmama. Although Quentin may be on to it--he mentioned that someone else had been to visit Grandmama.

My guess is Terry Crawford. She is so tall and that looks like her chin. [angl]

Current Talk '02 II / Dark Shadows Masterpiece Theatre

The close-knit Collinses of 1897 spend a lot of time [argue]. I think the period costumes and sets rival anything seen on one of those family sagas on Masterpiece Theatre.  Only they have a vampire.[vampy] I could imagine someone like Alistair Cooke introducing each episode and describing the family intrigue. IMHO the acting is just as good. Loved Carl's haircut and jacket (very sixties).
