I think it's funny that here is Vickie, living in a mansion with several dozen unoccupied bedrooms, and she asks poor Maggie and Sam, living in that cramped little cottage, to put up this total stranger for her!

And talk about funny..I must admit I laughed out loud when I saw Dr. Lang getting ready to decapitate poor Jeff with a teeny tiny little scalpel!  How long do you think it would take for him to do the job with that (with no bucket or anything to catch the streams of blood that would surely result from such an operation.  Hasn't Lang ever heard of the jugular vein)?

And btw, did Julia ever fully explain her ruse of hiding her identity as a doctor to the Collins family?

I still don't get Lang's reluctance to accept the existence of witchcraft.  I mean how does he think Barnabas BECAME a vampire?  He seems so dismissive of Barnabas when Barnabas should know, if anyone does, the events leading up to his becoming a nocturnal bloodsucker.

I'm not a huge fan of the Leviathon story (though I don't dislike it to the extent that some do); however, I genuinely like the Carolyn/Jeb relationship because I think it is the one relationship in the history of DS that brings with it some genuine sexual tension.  They actually seem to be attracted to one another physically and not just romantically.

The scene between Roger and Elizabeth is so dynamic that it makes one sad to think the characters weren't used as much as they could - or should - have been.

I see your point, but vampires have always been associated with fantastical bogeymen down through the ages, so after discovering that one such bogeyman exists, it shoudn't be such a leap of faith to realize that another does as well.

I agree.  I love when Dr. Lang blurts out, "I'm a man of science," as justification for not believing in witchcraft and black magic.  This from a man who just "cured" a vampire and is getting ready to create a live human being out of sewn-together body parts!

It seems to take an awfully long time for the two of them to drive to the same spot, Eagle Hill Cemetary, that people seem to walk to in no time flat.   [ghost_wink]

Has poor Burke, still apparently missing in the Amazon jungle, been completely forgotten by everyone at this point?   Vicki not only never asks about him (like have they found the body) when she gets back, but is already ranting on about some other guy name Peter Bradford whom she now claims to love.   [ghost_shocked]

I think it's pretty amazing that this show, which was broadcast on aftenoonTV in the 1960's, was abe to get away with a pretty queasy suggestion of cousin-on-cousin incest.

Carolyn mentioned that she hadn't seen Tony for a week.  Yet, wasn't the whole family supposedly frozen in a state of suspended animaton for close to four months?  The writers even reference the correct date - April 3 - when commenting on Peter Bradford's execution.

One also has to realize that Barnabas has no emotional connection with anyone when he is released in 1967 (even though everyone he meets apparently looks exactly like someone from his earlier life).  Hence, his more "evil" nature in that year is more understandable.

These episodes show Louis Edmonds at his finest.  He brings such a gravitas and weight to his work here, making us really feel the emotional turmoil the character is undergoing.  It's 180 degrees from the effete snobbishness of Roger Collins.  Great acting.

Speaking of bloopers, Joan says she is going to David's room rather than Daniel's.

Once again that inconsitency regarding the effect of vampire bites rears its ugly head.  When Willie, Maggie and Julia were bitten, they seemed barely able to stand, so drained were they of all physical energy.  Yet, Millicent seems barely fazed by the whole thing - other than her insanity, which seemed to be creeping up on her anyways.  Carolyn seemed to be more in this mode too when she was bitten, come to think of it.  Maybe it was just something about Nancy Barrett's constitution that made that possible.   [snow_cheesy]

That Ben sure must have been some servant!  Imagine singlehandedly lugging a heavy coffin all the way up the stairs to the tower in the middle of the night without being noticed.

And what's with that light in the tower that every person at Collinwood seems to have seen the night before?  Joshua doesn't have much experience with keeping secrets apparently.

One quick question:  Why is it that people in vampire stories always seem to arrive at the coffin just as dusk is falling?

Barnabas seems to me to be taking quite a lot of chances living in the old house.  Certainly, someone is bound to see the candlelight coming from the windows eventually, and wouldn't Joshua make periodic visits to it, seeing as it is still an important piece of property on his estate?
